Oh that's a kind of puzzle I haven't seen before. It was hard to get the hang of the rules.
Also, I like the illustrations but they get too much in the way of the gameplay. The WALL and the opened tiles don't contrast enough with eachother, in other words it's hard to tell them apart from a glance.
I've featured this game in my showcase, though at the time of editing I didn't read the comments below so I didn't know what Nurikabe is. So you can ignore my question in aforementioned video:

A tile uncovering game with Nue and Sanae.
Never played a game quite like this before, and despite being terrible at it, I still really like the concept. The tutorial was straightforward, but it took a bit of failing to figure out exactly how it worked, so after a little bit, uncovering tiles was a lot more satisfying. The art is good (I especially liked the Nue/Sanae combination and puns), the UI is clear, and the music fits well, so this is a solid puzzle game overall.
Never played Nurikabe before, it was kinda confusing at first, but now I think I like it xD, kinda confused me because I was sure this was minesweeper at first.
Kinda memorized the patterns more than "solving" them, but still, was quite the challenge, when I figured out how to solve it, i didn't had enough with the 3 stages, its quite addicting.
Also, this reminded me of those old flash games, quite the feels.
To be honest, I thought I was playing something akin to Minesweeper cause I've never played Nurikabe before.
Furious at first, but little by little the game started to click for me and I started to really love the game. At the end of it got a chance to experience something new and look forward to playing again. I even beat the game 3 times of all difficulties cause I just wanted to play more.
Good stuff and great way to introduce Nurikabe!
Nurikabe is one of my favorite kinds of puzzle so I'm super glad other people enjoy it too. Thanks for playing!
I've never played Nurikabe before, so this was a fun and fresh experience. I think I understood how it works and how to approach the problem. It reminds me a bit of sudoku, in terms of the kind of mental gymnastics you have to perform to exclude certain possibilities. The art is cute. The UFO aesthetics added to my enjoyment and made me think of Beventlaed since my brain is condition that way.
The music is nice and fitting for a game that requires some mental calculations.
The Linux version appears to be an OS X version.
Yes, it's kind of like a minesweeper/sudoku hybrid with a silly name. What's not to like? Thanks for the review! And for pointing out the mislabeled build (I saw a penguin and I thought "that's the Mac icon!", doh)
Neat puzzle execution with cute art to back it up! The music and ufo pops feel nice. :)
I went into this assuming there could be hidden islands, which makes things a little less determinate lol.
It's easy for me to accidentally double click, and my mouse sometimes double clicks for me, so that was frustrating.
Thanks for playing! Yes, I wanted to work on the controls a bit more but I ran out of time. Real Nurikabe is not so brutal, thankfully.
My brain isn't equipped to deal with puzzles like this so I end up brute-forcing them. Was still cool to see though for sure
Will be honest, it would be much easier to see what is what if instead of Nue and Sanae there were some islands and walls/rivers, on Difficulty 3 it becomes hard to see. Still, liked it, and combination of Sanae/Nue during gameplay is somewhat blursed.
Predetermined puzzles let player to brute-force, but that should be fine with Jam game.
I had elaborate plans for a full puzzle generation algorithm but... yeah, I think that would have only been appreciated by me. Thanks for playing!
Fellow Godot person wooo
I've never done a Nurikabe puzzle before and I can confirm now I am very bad at them.
Small note: playing on a MacBook Pro, I think the resolution is kind of messed up (see picture). I have issues with my games where I have to turn off Allow HiDpi to make it look good on Mac. Of course this has downsides with rendering though. Hopefully later I will try this on my Windows machine to see how it looks.
Hooray, Godot unity! Godot... Unity... Hooray!
I noticed that bug happens on a scaled screen or when you zoom the browser Window. I'm sure there must be a way to fix it but I'm new to the engine
Well, I've put up a Mac build now, so that at least should work fine.
had no idea how it worked at the start and bruteforced it but by the third puzzle it was a clean clear
puzzles are good
interesting puzzle, but the art under the tiles makes visualizing the whole picture considerable harder....
I needed to put the Touhou somewhere. I may have chosen poorly. Thanks for playing!
It took me a while to figure out what the puzzle is about. I thought it was minesweeper at first. Interesting concept for a puzzle game. Sometimes I confuse the empty space with the wall.
this game is pretty good quite a masterpiece but after trying to beat the difficulty 1 level for 26 hours straight without blinking my brain popped just like one of the tiles and a little ufo came out of it pretty good artwork though
Thank you. Perhaps we are all the Nuekabe.
truly the message of the game
