Very interesting interpretation of the theme. I feel like you had the seed of an idea but didn't know where to take it. The gameplay itself is only a couple of minutes, with the rest of the game being long, languid cutscenes, including a long cutscene of (spoilers) the ship sinking slowly into the water. The cinematics could have used a more directorial eye for interesting shots or plot.

Yes, you're right, I didn't know what the 'game' was going to be until it was half way done.
The cutscenes are ment to be long and calming, but the lack of interactions don't help putting it all together.
The next time I would definitely make core mechanics for the game, since it will help the player feel involved in the story.
