Played this longer than I thought I would when I picked it up late at night ^_^ felt the atmosphere immediately, very spooky. Had a twinge in the back of my neck I haven't had since playing Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion so a bit nostalgic.

Died on my first run to the first boss, cheeky bastard... got to 19 on my second. Took me til about floor 10 for things to click and to understand the timing of enemy attacks for the most part.

Some minor nitpicks:

  • Bosses are kinda awkward to fight with their size, felt like I had to stand inside one to hit it with melee. Might've been a broken weapon, but I don't think it was (can't honestly remember, I started fighting them with ranged weapons after).
  • Stepping on the last little chunk of gore for cannibalism can be a little awkward
  • Im not sure what the slime powerup actually did, although I didn't stare at my slime to figure it out (i assume he attacks)
  • I feel like the wooden buckets should float in the water level :3
  • a hotkey for moving something to the crafting slot might be nice if there isn't one (didn't check, sorry)

Didn't see anything I'd call a bug though.

I like the UI.

Very fun, would've played more but need to sleep. Best of luck to ya!

Glad you liked it! The timing of enemy attacks will become much easier to judge once i implement real animations.

  • Bosses' sizes are actually relevant to melee combat, as is the arena's size for ranged, but that's what high-range weapons like spears, harberds and quarterstaves are for!
  • Cannibalism's bites are chance-based, so all you have to do is stand somewhat close to the gib.
  • Slime-friend follows you around (as best he can), and attacks enemies with an acid touch. He's quite powerful if you can lead him around.
  • Good suggestion, noted.
  • There is, I just didn't say it anywhere. It's the middle mouse button.

Thanks for the review!
