Wow. First of all thanks for this detailed review! I appreciate that you spent time on that since it's actually really helpful!
I agree that I ended up making most HP bars really high, it was an attempt to make the player consider getting a couple of allies to help him with the destruction, but now i see that since the infected workers decide by themself who to attack they end up giving you away instead of helping...
If i would go for a full release I think the right thing to do will be to give the player more control over the actions of infected workers.
