After looking at the instructions and fiddling with the controls a bit, I got the hang of this cooking game and really enjoy it!  The game loop of gathering resources -> craft things -> unlock better tools / recipes -> gather more resources -> craft more things has always been super addicting for me, and this game has it down.  (Games with crafting mechanics have a place in my heart, haha.)

I also like the flavor of the game. The recipe book (with instructions from two clearly different authors) was a nice touch.  Instructions to "eat with piety" and similar remarks made me chuckle.

My only main complaint is that the controls felt a bit clunky, which slowed down the gameplay for me. For example, I think you could have gotten away with using the same button for entering and exiting a scene, instead of 2 separate buttons.  Same with picking up and dropping in ingredients with the scoop / flagon - it would be great if this could both be triggered by left-click.

Overall, I had fun with this game.  I think it has a lot of potential!  It just needs a little more polish and more streamlined controls, and I would be completely down to play it for hours.

Glad you enjoyed it.  Yeah I've had many a game where the resource re-investment loop hooked me too.

Yeah the controls ended up a bit awkward in places.  A lot of the core of the game was inventory management.  I was going for the feel of baking/cooking while following a recipe i.e  measuring ingredients, reacting to feedback as it cooks.  I think it would have benefited from more tools, so there could just be a 1-cup measuring cup that picks up and drops with left or right click if you prefer that, or something else with different control features.  The flagon and scoop ended up more like a chemistry pipette in that you'd pickup 4 cups, drop 2 hear and drop 2 there.  Maybe a shift-click with the empty hand to type in a count for people that prefer that.

I can see how the E to enter Q to leave is awkward if you're used to E to toggle.  I was thinking you could get a faster rhythm going as you get familiar but sticking with the conventions probably makes more sense.

Yeah I think there's potential for a larger game, not sure if I'll be interested in revisiting at some point.  A lot of feature creep was cut.  Ovens, purchased equipment, different prep types, egg cracking technique, more creative recipes, non-mashing forage mechanics, etc.
