Yknow it's funny, there were a few moments at the beginning of the jam where we considered making a dating game too😂
I think the idea was more that you'd have to try and seduce the die in order to get favorable rolls somehow. That certainly would've been interesting, but instead we made a rhythm game. I only have a handful of regrets this time 😅
Anyway, this game is immediately charming. The art is fun and has a good vibe all around.
Interesting how intentionally unlikeable some of the characters are to give you a chance to use the rude dice, or at least I hope that was the intent 😅
The dice creating a mad lib style dating sim is a nice goofy idea, the only thing is i feel like it always should ensure to roll a dice for each required word type so you don't end up with grammatically incorrect sentences. Just imo I guess but mad libs are funnier when they're grammatically correct.
Still got a good few laughs out of me especially with cancelling people online and drinking alcohol while stealing underwear.
Unfortunately I think the game bugged out at the end? I selected the dog to pair with and it just immediately went to credits but if i clicked i heard the dialogue sounds in the background. I was looking forward to hearing about my new life with dogg

Thank you so much for playing and giving feedback <3 You DID make the most kick-ass rhythm game though, so don't worry! During development we thought grammatically incorrect sentences usually provided funnier results - but we'll see if we might adjust it like you suggested in an updated version. We do have a system that gives a bonus if you make a grammatically correct sentence, so we do take it into account at least.
About the dog ending I actually have no idea what could've caused that! I can't even repro it myself 😰 I hope you know Nanako was happy to leave Pairgatory with you!
That's interesting, I'm wondering if there should've been some feedback for the grammatic bonus.
To be fair sometimes bad grammar is funny and I don't think they should be removed entirely, but a good portion of the time it felt impossible to make a sentence that made sense and the options werent ideal. I know thats like kind of the point but it hurts the obsessive compulsive part of my brain slightly. Maybe being able to re-roll the dice would've been good? I was also a bit unsure what the additional dice were doing, I assume it's just a larger pool overall, but might be good if you could roll every dice you collected one time, would make it feel more involved and rewarding to collect them.
Of all the jam games I played, I think this was the most charming though, so again very well done.
And Nanako still warms my heart even if they were overshadowed by the credits lmao.
Also I'm glad you liked the dicey rhythm game 😁
I think it turned out fairly solid (albeit difficulty was always going to be impossible to manage for a jam) Though I must admit in hindsight I kind of feel dissatisfied with it, I think just because it is just that, a rhythm game. I basically spent the entire jam programming super fiddly audio nonsense and never had time to make anything super fun with it. And inherently rhythm games are hard to make unique or interesting already. So It kinda feels like I didn't get to shine much this go of it. A far cry from the freerunningparkouranimescorpionbossbattle we did last jam together, eheh 😅
In the end the visuals and music take the show since theyre the only thing that can make a rhythm game stand out.
