Fun as hell!
The audio could use some songs as well as more effects, although the shotgun firing, especially with the explosion upgrade, sounds very cool! Some variation in the shot sounds would be helpful in long runs. Hitting a ghost made a sharp sound that didn't seem to fit too.
Visually I guess I'd only argue that shotgun bullets were a bit strange, but that's mostly nitpicking. The ghosts were nice and the girl was super cute, especially in the title/thumbnail art!
The game felt kinda tough to me if you don't get the upgrades as quick as possible. The ghost drops could last a bit longer, it makes runs too hard if you fail to grab 'em as early as you can. Some upgrades are very overpowered, I enjoyed having faster fire rate and exploding bullets! I also got auto firing, which was more of a quality of life and made me feel like playing Vampire Survivors (love that game!). Once I hit max level there seemed to be no point in continuing, since there was no score or time counter.
If I understood correctly, the upgrades are supposed to be defined randomly at the start of the run, but then you are stuck with those 3 ones until the end?
Regarding some of the upgrades:
- the knockback upgrade wasn't very clear, the ghosts didn't seem to be pushed back upon hit, it seemed like the girl was pushed back. Was it supposed to be more of a movement boost?
- does the +1 health one just adds a heart? It seems like one of the weakest upgrades.
One thing I'd like would be to be able to shoot automatically by holding the left mouse button, but that's just me.
All in all, this was a cool top-down shooter! I could see it growing and having more content, the basics are pretty much all there! Well done!
