In order to get to the treasure chest, you have to use the guy that runs into the water as a platform, he can be dead or alive whilst falling and then afterwards you can walk through the one way door on the island to get back to the ship. I realised that the rope is quite troublesome for quite a lot of people and shall definitely have to focus on making that better as it's the core mechanic.
