Notes from gameplay:
- Lovely pixel art for main menu background
- Peaceful music
- I like the scroll to see different menu options
- Volume slider is interesting, never seen that shape before but it captures my attention
- Loading animation is pretty
- Nice job with a tutorial!
- Doesn't appear to be audio in the tutorial
- Tutorial says W and D for movement, but it seems to be A and D
- Talking to the creature from the first tomb opens a text box on top of tutorial text
- 2nd tomb spawns a creature above, looks to be glitching out in movement, running back and forth very quickly in place
- Apostrophes appear to be stripped out from tutorial text
- Would be nice to have a health bar for targets I'm fighting
- Can't seem to make dash work, using left control with a/d doesn't seem to do anything. Edit: it's shift, not control
- Sprite animations are clean, I like the little bounce and rippling cloak. The cloud behind movement is a nice touch
- Some parallax to the background layers where they move at different speeds would really enhance the visuals. As-is, they are solid and cohesive!
- The speed of movement makes it a bit tricky to do some of the platform jumps, I keep jumping too far or falling off
- Level 1 music track #2 is very spooky! Love it!
- Nice death screen. "Worry thought" should be "worried thought"
- Are the levels randomized? Playing again and this level looks different from the first two I played
- The dash adds some complex platforming options, like jump + dash. Very nice!
- Doesn't seem to be an incentive to use E on tombstones - so far, I've only seen monsters spawn and a repeated hint about a tree. Killing the monsters doesn't seem to reward anything
- You can interact with a level exit using E after dead if you die at the exit lol
Overall, I thought this was nicely done! The controls were a bit tricky because of how twitchy they feel, but I think you did a great job of creating a solid platformer with core mechanics which build on each other. More skills, such as a ranged attack, could be nice additions. I enjoyed the music and thought the art was cohesive - the sprites, items, background and color palette all worked nicely together.
