It's pretty simple, but plays well, addictive and pretty solid, so it's all subjective.

It plays so well, that it deserves 1250 dollars? Nah.

That's not the right wording.
If the participants voted that way, then maybe.

It could be rigged, and most likely is. The game sticks out like a sore thumb, and it isn't even close to the quality of Arcane Tactics. Also, participants votes do not always reflect the quality of a game, as everyone has different opinions and experiences. It gets even worse when there are no precautions against spamming 1 star votes on other games with different accounts.

Exactly, but either we use community votes and accept above, or we need a jury, which can also have its flaws.
Or you know another solutions?

Let judges choose from the top 10 or 20 (depending on the size of the game jam) and decide the winners of prizes after the results are finalized to ensure games being left out due to unfair tactics. Its not perfect, but its better than what most game jams do, and definitely better than what BIGA did.

It's an option, but this should be in rules before jam started, as some of the winners can be disappointed.
Usually good to have few places by community votes and few nominations from judges.

from what it sounds like in the discord, the results might not be final anyway. but i feel like im getting hate just because you didnt like my game. it isnt up to me where my game gets placed, what am i supposed to do about it

You literally just explained the point of a game jam, you don't know where you're going to be placed. And that's where rigging comes in, which I'm gathering is what you did to change your fate. I don't know though. Correct me I'm wrong.

surely the results are just up to the judges though, they can do what they want and don't have to respect the community vote? i dont understand what you think i can do to influence that, are you saying that the whole thing is rigged?

You've stated that you voted, I'm not sure what you mean that the results are just up to the judges. In fact, BIGA clearly stated in the description of the game jam that it's up to your peers to determine which games will make the cut.
