Based on the games you've made so far, I kinda figured you'd probably lean more toward the cryptic/ambiguous side of storytelling. Yeah, good stories with no dialogue are really cool. In fact, that makes me wanna make a game without dialogue now... 🤔 No dialogue would actually be a cool theme for a jam, too! 😮 Don't ya think?

I typically like a good balance between explanation and interpretation within creative works. Things that rely exclusively on interpretation can give me a headache, but when everything is explained I feel patronised and left out of the experience altogether.

Two of the games will be kinda low effort (and hopefully entertaining), but I'm most excited for the third one, which might be my favourite thing I've made in RPG in a Box so far! 🙌 Yes, one of them is Ash's jam, then there's the SUMMER SPLASH GAME JAM 24 and Flasholotl's "Unoriginal" game jam - 2024 (then possibly the Spooktober 6th Annual Visual Novel Jam next month).

That should be interesting! I'll happily check out your Godot experiments whenever you release them. Boooooo! I demand a Poulet jam submission! You don't always have to submit a finished game, you know. Ash encourages everyone to submit things, even if they're just demos or proof of concepts. Obviously I'm not gonna twist your arm about it if you'd rather not participate, but as a fellow believer in the philosophy of 'better to submit something than nothing at all', I feel compelled to make a small attempt to convince you.

Can I do a remake of The Witch's House or would that be considered too violent for this jam?

If blood and gore is the main issue, then I can exclude that altogether without losing much of the game's integrity, provided that the death animations can still exist in some form. Also if dark themes are a problem, I could probably come up with some workarounds for that, too.

I REALLY wanna remake this game, so I'd even be willing to create a completely family-friendly version if I have to. 😅

Yes, I used to spend a lot of time taking care of my Tamagotchi (and cleaning up its poop 💩💩💩💩💩). If imagining was all I needed to do, I'd make so many more games! And yes, they'd be more chaotic for sure. 😁
