Merci encore, monsieur!

I'm glad you liked it. ๐Ÿ˜

The jam's theme is industry. And I hope you're right! But either way, at least the game has been updated a fair bit now. Making progress feels good even if the game never gets finished, and any experience I get from it will benefit my future projects as well.

It really does mean a lot, though! True, there's no doubt you've scrapped your fair share too, but the ones you're finishing are turning out good at least! I hope you're proud of your work so far.

True enough! ๐Ÿ˜

That's a great idea, Poulet! I'm probably too lazy to do it, though... Also I'm running out of time to work on a jam submission, so it might be best to focus on that project until it's done.

You've been very encouraging and I thank you for that! Game development is just tricky sometimes, ya know?

Thanks! ๐Ÿ’ช You'd be surprised. Not everyone likes pancakes. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

So true. It really should be the other way around, shouldn't it? Time is so silly. โฐ I should be able to make all my games in 10 minutes, but time doesn't like stretching that way. ๐Ÿ™„

Correct, Obscure does have co-op! For sure, I think the satisfaction of conquering a game like Kenshi is what draws me to it (doing that requires a lot of time and patience however)!

Fair enough! ๐Ÿ˜ I hope your sleep schedule stays intact, though! It'd be nice if I could keep mine on track more often... ๐Ÿ˜ซ Sometimes I get carried away with work and lose track of time like a silly goose.

That's a good idea! It's always nice when games have demos. True, it's like you're making a game, but without all the hard work. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I wanted to try Obscure since it's an older game and it plays similarly to Resident Evil. And Kenshi intrigues me so far, but it'll take some time to figure out what I'm doing, since it's pretty intricate (and yes, unforgiving). Also true! Interesting how that works, isn't it?

By the way, isn't it like 2:20AM for you right now? ๐Ÿค”

I know the feeling. ๐Ÿ˜… But it's important to pace yourself!

I saw Quest Master on Steam recently too! The Mario Maker aspect appeals to me, cuz I love games with level editors, so I might try it out at some point. This is the first time I've heard of Minami Lane, but you're right about its cuteness! Guess that's another game I gotta put on my wishlist...

Ehhh... I recently bought two games: Obscure and Kenshi. They both have potential for me, but I haven't taken the time to play them much yet. I would say that I'm too busy working on stuff to play them, but I play Luck Be A Landlord and Golf with Your Friends on my off time so... they just haven't grabbed me yet it seems.

Thanks a lot (and that's okay)! It's nice to have ya along for the ride, Poulet. ๐Ÿ˜œ

I'm really glad you like the art so far! Yes, I think her new look suits her much better, too. ๐Ÿ˜ Nonono that should be changed, but I appreciate the reminder! Most of the old dialogue will be rewritten/rerecorded in future updates.

Thought you'd recognise him! ๐Ÿ” You're welcome! Since you've been so supportive of me and this game, I figured you deserved a special cameo.

How has your break from development been going? Playing any cool games at the moment?

True! That's a good way of describing it. Maybe I'll add a moral system so that Santa will give you coal if you misbehave. ๐Ÿ˜„

Thank you, and I would like to experiment with that kind of battle system, yes. The turn-based style requires a lot of patience to get right (and is more common in RPG Maker games anyway), so it would be nice to come up with an alternative if I can.

Thank you very much, Poulet! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I'm happy to be working on it again, too!

I'm glad! Yes, that certainly is a big commitment! When I did Inktober, it was already a lot of work coming up with ideas for one month, never mind twelve! Hope she doesn't get completely sick of making voxel models by the end of it. ๐Ÿ˜…

Thanks! I kinda wanna update this one and add more to it eventually, since the current version is so short.

Nonono definitely not. Just a happy, wholesome, cannibalism-free game. ๐Ÿ’ฏ That little box would never... ever. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Yeah, exactly. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

That sounds fair and 100% true! So it's a deal. ๐Ÿค

Agreed! I will focus now and make these glorious games...

I do have a lot of ideas, but it can be a bit chaotic to make games with no plan... it has it's pros and cons, ya know? Making notes and doodles is perfectly valid, too! As long as you get a desirable result in the end, right? I'm trying to work on my storytelling abilities, cuz most of my games so far have very little of that, but a lot of my favourite games have awesome stories and characters, which makes me focus more on dialogue and plot (even if it's goofy dialogue and plot ๐Ÿ˜).

Hmm... I think the sarcasm is all a trick! It's reverse psychology or something for sure! ๐Ÿ˜–

Crap... these ideas are getting too good... but I can't be making a pancake farming sim right now! I've got too many other ideas to make first! ๐Ÿ˜“ Oh well! Maybe it's a good thing, since I don't wanna compete with your farming game anyway. We can let Gardiny have it's time for now.

Thanks for making it!

The music you picked was really nice, the graphics are adorable, and I like all the UI stuff you put in (making a button for screenshots was a great idea btw)!

Also on a side note, I kinda broke it the first time I played, cuz I was messing with the resolution and scrolling through them caused the UI to go off screen and I had to redownload the game... but that's my bad! ๐Ÿ˜…

Thank you very much (and yes it counts)!

Making this game was therapeutic at the time, but thankfully I feel much better these days! ๐Ÿฅณ

GG! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

The "story" will probably be something like what I did in Box in an RPG, so more silly than serious. True, you'd think we would have talked about that before! ๐Ÿคจ Either way it's a good question! In my case, I usually get an idea for a game and start working on it directly in the engine that I feel suits the project best. I've written down notes for some games, but mostly I just dive into development right away and figure it out as I go. And you? What's your approach?

Well alright... I won't discourage you from following your destiny then. ๐Ÿ˜Š Lemme know whatcha think of them! If you say so, but I've got my eye on ya... ๐Ÿ‘€

I think I will! Yes, I'll sprinkle everything with syrup to make sure the crops are as delicious as possible. ๐Ÿ˜‹ Actually, maybe I should make a game where you plant pancake seeds and grow pancakes! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I know right? They kinda remind me of legos! Yeah, I'm glad you agree! And even if I can't get anyone else, I'll probably do the voice lines myself in that case. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Still gotta make the game first, so I won't worry about any of that now.

I donno if you have to play ALL of them... some of my games are kinda dumb. ๐Ÿคช But if you do play all of them, I'm thankful for that. And your feedback is always appreciated, too.

Maybe I'll consider that idea for a future project... ๐Ÿค” No arguments there! Justin's doing great things with the engine, and I love it's versatility, too. You're welcome! Hopefully I don't inflate your ego too much... ๐Ÿ˜…

By the way, I'm gonna play Gardiny later today! It already looks really cute from the screenshots, and I gotta take notes from you on style and presentation, cuz that's something you do really well. โœจ๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธโœจ

That's fantastic! I love learning how to use new software too, and I'm sure you'll do a great job as always. ๐Ÿ’ฏ And thanks, I'm looking forward to working with RPG in a Box again!

Oh and I noticed Sarah's still making her daily assets, too! Hard to believe she's already up to 140 of them! ๐Ÿคฏ How's she liking the process so far?

For sure! Especially for a 3D engine. Well... I may do some voice acting myself, but I hope to get others involved as well (a certain YouTuber in particular comes to mind ๐Ÿ˜‰). Very true, which is why I want to add voice lines that much more!

Yes... be VERY afraid! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Yep, I made all the graphics myself. And thank you! I was happy with how they turned out, too. I appreciate that and I hope you have fun playing it.

Okay okay. A spooky farming game actually sounds kinda cool now that I think about it, though... ๐Ÿค” You're on a roll with RPG in a Box games and I like what you've made so far! I'd definitely be interested in seeing what you make with the others engines, though (after your break, of course).

I'm sure you will! You have nothing to worry about anyway, cuz you're making really good games. ๐Ÿ’ฏ Keep it up!

Thank you very much, Justin!

How's development going with RPG in a Box? Those posts you've been making about v2.0 on the forum are looking awesome so far! I'm liking all the new quality of life features you're working on! ๐Ÿ˜

Yep, the engine will be Smile Game Builder. Glad to hear you'd be interested in more of FLA! I have an idea to make it much spookier too... As for SPECTRA, I wanna do more with it's gameplay and graphics, but I'm still proud of the demo.

That sounds much friendlier than your last game! You sure it's not secretly a horror game, too? Ah yes, gotta make sure you get those screenshots, or lazy bums like me will ignore the game completely! I used to be stressed about publishing too, but by this point I've gotten used to it. My games don't get enough traffic for me to feel overwhelmed by comments or anything either. Are you using RPG in a Box again or something else?

Good to hear! And yes, I understand that. Especially when you put as much effort as you do into your games.

So far so good... I think I've decided on making a simple dungeon crawler, but with custom art and voice acting. Other than that, the existing projects that I want to finish making are SPECTRA, and Feels Like Anxiety.

Am I allowed any hints about your new project?

Thank you, Poulet!

How have you been doing lately? Any new games in the works?

Thank you for playing all the way through! ๐Ÿฅณ

It's nice to hear what you liked about the games, and I'm glad you had fun playing them, Poulet. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

For now that's the only ending. I would've liked to add more, but I just wanted to have fun making a low-effort game for a change, since I'm supposed to be taking it easy right now... I can't help myself, though! Even when I'm burnt out I still wanna make games! ๐Ÿ˜…

Thanks for letting me know!

I'll try to fix that bug in the next update.

I really like DDLC (it's free on Steam if you wanna play it). The extra content in the plus version was great too. Yeah, I love the music in all 3 of the POP games (Sands of Time, Warrior Within and Two Thrones). Florence is a short and sweet game. It's worth a play, and as you can tell from the music it's worth a listen too. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Sorry I've slowed down with my responses... Just really strung out is all.

Thanks, Beaker. ๐Ÿ™‚ Appreciate that.

Glad you liked her videos! She was one of the first ASMRtists I ever watched, so she's special to me for that.

Thanks for sharing all this great music! Most of these I've never heard before, but they're really good. As for my picks, I'd say one of my favourites in recent years would be the OST to Doki Doki Literature Club Plus. Then there's the Prince of Persia soundtrack, and there's a game called Florence that has really nice music as well.

Much like favourite games, I could go on and on. As you said, good game soundtracks add so much to the experience.

My games aren't very popular (and neither am I), so I think the only person waiting will be you, Poulet. ๐Ÿ˜

But thank you for the sentiment.

Yes yes, totally. I've only heard that happens to OTHER devs. Not us, no no.

I gave up on the horror game. Feels like I'm stretching myself too thin, so I'm gonna focus on the two projects currently in development and nothing else (well, maybe one other thing but it'll be easier to make). Me? Put pressure on myself? I never do that... ๐Ÿ˜… Thank you for offering! I'll consider that too.

In the meantime, since you've shared your fondness for Nintendo games, I'd be interested to know if there are any soundtracks from those games you like in particular. Personally I've enjoyed many of the Super Mario games' soundtracks (which I've heard mostly from watching gameplay on YouTube).

It tends to feel that way most of the time these days, yeah. Making games is very satisfying (when it goes well that is ๐Ÿ˜…).

That's awesome to hear! Keep it up, Poulet. ๐Ÿ’ช I got a start on a jam project recently, and today I'm gonna work more on either the monthly dungeon or fantasy heroes. Not sure whether or not to work on the horror game anymore... If I do, I'm gonna simplify it so I can finish it quicker and get back to the bigger projects. Might have to avoid future jams for the most part this year, since I don't have as much time as I thought.

Thanks! I'll consider doing that. ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks very much for the feedback! ๐Ÿ™Œ

I'll try to return to this project when I have more time, cuz I still like it too.

I'm sure he's got time for that. He's Superman after all. ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Yes, we're unstoppable! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช

Nah, I donno who that is... He's probably too indie for me.

I should've known you'd go on about Nintendo games again! ๐Ÿ˜ I don't blame you though, since those games do look like a lot of fun. I also played Harry Potter and Tomb Raider, but I never had a Playstation, so they were the PC versions. Yeah, it's hard to remember all the old games for sure... But now we're making our own games, and that's really cool!

Speaking of which, did you make any progress on yours?

Hmm... Maybe I should just ask Superman to carry me instead. That would be way better (as long as he doesn't drop me ๐Ÿ˜จ).

Yes! Stay focussed, Poulet! You can do it! ๐Ÿ˜ฃ I've been kinda stumped lately, but I finally got some stuff done today which was nice.

I thought it was pretty fun when I was younger, but I haven't played it in years. It was a collection of multiplayer minigames, so a party game of sorts, yes.

Damn, that's a lotta money! Which reminds me that prices for new games are another reason why I'm less excited for them now. ๐Ÿ˜“ Free games on itch.io are much nicer to my wallet. I'll take a look at DQ11 on Steam then!

Well, if APT is Poulet approved, then I definitely gotta look at that one too!

Oh crap, I just realised I forgot to answer your previous question about other games I liked as a kid. There was LEGO Racers, Prince of Persia, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Doom II, and countless others. I played soooo many games growing up that I could probably go on forever. Did you have any other games you used to play (besides the MMOs)?

Well, that technique might look dorky, but the savings on airplane tickets make it all worthwhile.

I knoooooow! Maybe they'd allow a 'vote all' option in that case...

It's all good, ya don't have to apologise! ๐Ÿ˜„

For sure, that kind of gameplay is good for that. I think that's why I enjoyed your Nil Bogg game so much. True, but I don't know if I have the time to be playing MMOs with the projects I currently have on the go right now... I'll think about it, though.

Yeah, that one intrigues me too, but I will probably wait for a sale on that one. As for Dragon Quest, I have not! Are there any games from that series you'd recommend?

I think the only Rayman game I've played is Raving Rabbids. ๐Ÿ˜† Do you know that one? APT has been on my radar for a while... Think I should give it a try? Stray does look cute and cats are one of my favourite animals. ๐Ÿ˜ธ

If you figure out how, please teach me too!

Yeah, the solution was so obvious! That's true, but I imagine all their political strategies will be quite similar. The real challenge will be picking the cutest one, I think.

True! And the method works well enough for making music as a hobby at least. I do, but I don't feel comfortable saying the name publicly.

It makes sense that the biggest McDonald's in the world would still have an arcade.

Damn, kinda wish I'd known about FlyFF when I was younger. I probably would've liked it. But then again, I played a lot of games at that time, so maybe it's a good thing I didn't have another MMO to play. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

One of these days I'll play a Final Fantasy game... Eventually. Maybe it'll be the final game I ever play.

Do you have a favourite French video game?

๐Ÿ˜ฒ I think that makes you Superman.

Enjoy it while it lasts! Soon my clones will own everything and there will be no need for money as the world will be funded by pancakes exclusively!

It might be easier if I learned music theory and stuff like that, but as I've stated before I'm kinda lazy, so instead I just throw random notes all over the place until it sounds decent. ๐Ÿ˜… Yes, drums can be very pricey (but also awesome). I was watching A Hard Day's Night one day when I was 11 and thought Ringo looked really cool! Then I started taking lessons shortly after and absolutely loved it! I even played in a band for a few years too. Good times.

Indeed... ๐Ÿ˜ˆ Nyehehehehehe

I knooooooow. I should send a stern letter to Mr. McDonald demanding that he bring those arcades back! Alright, I'll have to play INSIDE then!

Pretty much! Star Wars was my life at that time. Ugh, I know what that's like! I used to play new games on our home computers and struggle through a ton of lag! Awww. ๐Ÿ˜Š Thank you again for playing ASoL!

I know of WoW, but I can't remember if I've ever heard of FlyFF... It actually looks a little bit like a 3D version of Maplestory. What kind of stuff can you do in that game? Ah, Final Fantasy is another franchise I've yet to play, but I've heard many good things about it. Was FF14 the first online experience or had they already done that in a previous entry?
