Hi there!

I've just released a new prototype called Box Box, where you match the colour on the ground with the colour on the Box as you flip, slide and rotate through 15 challenging levels. Featuring a pulsing soundtrack, spiffy level transitions and head scratching puzzles, I hope you enjoy Box Box!

Thanks for the feedback! We are currently working on a big update and that is one of the changes we are adding, the ability to skip cards/treasure rewards.

Congrats! I didn't expect someone to write up a guide, let alone so quickly :P

Hey everyone!

I have just released We The People on Itch! The game was originally created for the recent GM48 game jam, where the challenge is to create a game in 48 hours around a theme, this theme being "non-violence". I have made a couple of minor changes since then and have uploaded the game here for you all to hopefully enjoy! Let me know what you think!

(1 edit)

Thanks! Yeah I can tone it down, it does get pretty heavy towards the end, I'll see what I can do. EDIT: I have reduced the number of pop-ups and protesters that appear on the screen, hopefully it runs a bit better for you now!

Thanks a lot! I'm pleasantly surprised it was able to work on mobile, and that is an impressive streak.

Wor6le is a game I made in 24 hours for a challenge, and boy is the game challenging :P. Instead of 5 letter words and 6 guesses, wor6le has 6 letter words and 5 guesses, making it much harder than regular wordle. Play in the browser for free and feel the frustration and elation.

Hi MasterPug, I would appreciate it if you checked out the demo for our roguelike deckbuilding game Aventia

The demo includes a campaign and gauntlet mode, 4 classes, 200+ cards and plenty of items and powers to discover.

Hey there Romza, thanks for this opportunity.

Aventia is a roguelike deckbuilding game featuring a campaign mode, gauntlet mode, 4 classes and plenty of cards, enemies and items. We released our major demo a month or so ago and are busy working towards release.

Its amazing that you took the time to write such detailed feedback, thank you very much! TO quickly address some of your points:

  • The campaign difficulty/balance (especially last half) is still being tweaked. You were correct with your idea that the checkpoints in the campaign are sparse so you don't get 'stuck' by your choices (although you can always start a new campaign run if you need to)
  • Similar with class/card balance, still being tweaked and thanks for your suggestions on that
  • I agree with the hero powers, will look into ways for them to be more noticeable on the screen
  • "Three times during my overall playing of this demo, I accidentally chose a card because I was clicking the centre of the screen when they appeared" Do you mean when selecting a card after winning a battle? Were you clicking in the middle of the screen early or something like that?
  • We will be updating the playable character art soon, I agree some of them don't quite fit
  • Thanks for reporting those bugs, will get cracking on them

Ooops, thanks for reporting that, I'll get to it.

Thanks for the report, and glad you are enjoying it! I actually have a 2560x1440 monitor and haven't noticed it bleeding past the edges, although I haven't tested much in windowed mode admittedly so I will have another look at that. I think your bug report has narrowed down where the hang was occuring so I'll get to fixing that. I haven't experienced that personally in my testing. The campaign will definitely be rebalanced a bit shortly, expect a new build with bug fixes and balance updates in a couple of weeks.

I enjoyed this demo! I think the movement speed might be a little slow and the controls responsiveness seemed a tad slow to me in a hectic fight, but mostly felt good to control. Being able to bind controls to the mouse would be neat. Art is good, especially like the parallax backgrounds. Definitely seems like an interesting world, got me intrigued for more. Keep up the good work!

Aventia is a deckbuilding game where fast paced card combat meets a story driven campaign. Enjoy mastering 4 playable classes, 200+ cards and 40+ artifacts as you fight your way through campaign and gauntlet modes.

Absolute legend for such detailed feedback! Good catch with the cursor and windowed mode, will look into fixing that. SFX and BGM volume seperately, on the to-do list. Same with those avatars. I agree health potions can heal more than they currently do, and the difficult balance between levels of the campaign is still being fine-tuned. Great to hear you enjoyed the game!

Thank you very much for your suggestions and support! We are definitely including a story mode and challenge mode in the full game, we are also contemplating an endless mode where the difficulty continually ramps up until you are defeated. No plans for multiplayer unfortunately, that is beyond our scope but definitely something to keep in mind for future projects. A level editor/sandbox does sound fun but isn't that high on our priority list, we'll see if we can work it in.

NEW DEMO HAS BEEN RELEASED!

After months of hard work we are finally ready to share our new demo. New features include the first part of our campaign, gauntlet mode with 2 different biomes, 4 classes, over 200 cards and 40 artifacts.

Over the last month in particular, most of my work has been bug fixing and visual polish trying to get the demo ready. This involved redesigning the cards slightly and centering the text, which greatly improves their appeal IMO. Along with double checking that all the mechanics were working properly, I had to redo the tutorial due to all the changes breaking the old one. Additionally, completing the campaign level design and story dialogue took quite a bit of work.

We also revamped the gauntlet mode of the game, adding a map just like in the campaign and adding a new second biome, a snowy map filled with fearsome Drothmund warriors. This was a relatively smooth change to implement thankfully due to building on the framework of the campaign mode. Along with that I added a dozen new artifacts, artifact rarity and a new potion room. This of course adjusted the difficulty of the game, so rebalancing enemies and cards took a few days to make sure the game wasn't too easy or difficult.

Overall I am happy with the current state of the game and the demo, and looking forward to continue working on it in 2022. Also, did I mention that the steam page is coming soon? Keep an eye out on that.

If you would like to check out the game, visit https://aventia-entertainment.itch.io/aventia, give it a download, a rating and a follow. Enjoy!

A MASSIVE UPDATE AND NEW PUBLIC DEMO IS ON ITS WAY!

Aventia is an upcoming game featuring card slinging combat with a rogue-like twist. Fast paced card combat meets strategic deck building and intriguing item choices. Approachable for newcomers with depth for veterans, there will be two main game modes: Campaign and Gauntlet. The Campaign will be story driven missions for each of the 5 classes, where you battle your way across the continent to uncover a deadly plot to invade all of Aventia. In Gauntlet mode, each run you pick a class, with access to over 50 unique cards, and try to fight your way to the final boss. If you die, you start back at the beginning with the knowledge and experience you have gained. Will you figure out the secrets of Aventia?

In recent months we have been hard at work adding content, refining mechanics and squashing bugs and are excited to be releasing a new Aventia demo within the next few weeks! This demo has huge updates from the previous versions, and we can't wait to hear what you think about the game. The new demo will include:

  • A challenging and story driven Campaign adventure!

  • A brand new playable class, the Vanguard!

  • New cards for all existing classes in Gauntlet mode!

  • Card upgrading, shops, items and more!

  • UI improvements, graphics improvements, balance improvements and bug fixes!

The demo which is currently up is a bit out of date, but should still give you an idea of the gameplay if you can't wait until the new update comes out :). We appreciate any and all feedback, and I hope to post updates every fortnight or so with some more particular detail.

Thanks for the kind words! I think there is an artifact that lets you keep your shield across multiple turns if that is what you meant, but I think that is locked to one of the unreleased classes (coming soon!). Dodge can definitely be a bit OP if you get a lot of cards with it so we'll be looking at the rarity of those cards to ensure you don't see them too often :). Hopefully soon we will release an updated version with 1 of the remaining 2 classes, the first part of the Campaign mode and a ton of QOL improvements, hope to hear your thoughts on that when it comes out :).

Hmmm when exactly does it happen? Is it when you try to disarm an enemy? Or when you use Disorient and make an enemy attack another target? Did an enemy die because of poison at the start of its turn? Or something else?

EDIT: I have pushed an update which should solve the problem (or at least prevent the crashes!). You should still have a valid save file from the start of the battle where you crashed. If you do, if you could load into it and try and recreate the issue and see if anything happens that would be greatly appreciated, as I still haven't been able to reproduce the bug myself.

Thanks,  turns out we had misnamed one of the cards Shadow Stock instead of Shadow Shock! The bug has been fixed in the latest version along with couple of other minor fixes.

Glad you are enjoying the game! Sorry about that bug, would you mind telling me what class you were playing when it occured? That would help narrow it down.

If you experience any bugs or crashes, please let us know here so we can fix them as quickly as we can.

Thanks Tom, it is possible that we can do a MacOS build, however none of us own a mac computer so it will be a bit challenging. Definitely something we will look into though!
