Smart. That's what many other games need, before fancy graphics and effects.

> would work and look really good on a mobile device

It does. Thank you.

Pleasantly surprised by an innovative idea. Good job.

Per instructions:

"The game ends when a player's battery reaches a set charge (25 units by default). If that player started the game, the opponent takes one  more turn."

Both players get to make the same number of moves. Whoever goes second, goes last. You started the game, so Robot finished it.

You can click on the Robot icon at the start of the game to make it go first.

Thank you for reporting the bug. It's been now fixed.

making it impossible to play anything useful. I feel like it's rendering the game unplayable.

I respectfully disagree. Let's say the previous word is FROG, and O is now blacklisted. You still can play, say, GIG, or ERR, or FUR, and earn a point. Even if you enter IF and earn 0 points, you leave your opponent with very few options and potentially force them to create an opportunity for your next move. Playing very short words has its advantages.

Blacklisting is an important feature in this game. It helps avoid repetitive and predictable scenarios. Without it,  ATTRACT would be always followed by CATARACT, ENDLESS by SENSELESS, etc. You would just learn and memorize the best next step in every scenario. Blacklisting random letters prevents that from happening and actually makes the game playable.

In any case, both players are in the same situation. On average, your chances of winning or losing are not affected by blacklisting.

I have published an update, although I haven't been able to reproduce the problem. Which platform are you using? I've tested on Android, iOS, and a PC.

Thank you, I appreciate the input.

In addition to the reasons mentioned, the challenge of mentally figuring out the placement of the tiles should be viewed as "brain training" of sorts. After a little while it comes naturally. Honestly, I wouldn't want to change the mechanics even if I could.

Cheers.

Thanks for the feedback.

It's a time-based game on levels above the first one.  Dragging takes time. Single click/tap is the fastest way to make a move.

The cleared squares are faded away gradually, which is the clue. There was a bug in that behavior in the initial release, it has been now fixed.

In any case, thank you for playing.

Thank you.
