Honestly i really like this

Oh yeah
the title is O\F. The optional theme of the jam is turning things on and off.  So "O" stands for "On", while "F" symbolizes "Off"... yeah, that's basically it. It's the only "conncetion" this game has to the optional theme.

I like this a lot!
Cute animations and spritework, not only considering the restrictions, but on it's own standards too.
You did a really good job of teaching a player the main mechanics thru gameplay, without slow tutorials. It's pretty fun and figuring all this stuff out was satisfying.
My only "complaint " is that I sometimes I wasn't sure where each arrow key would move me. But I think that's more a problem with myself.

Good job!

This is a really fun idea. The pixel art and music are pretty cute, the game has a really cozy personality, depsite the rough nokia 3310 restrictions.  However, I found the game to be a little bit frustrating in some places. Sometimes the character would stop proceeding, because of a wall that was just turned on behind him and there was a little bit of going back and forward.
It's a great idea, it just needs a little bit refining.

Hey, this is a really fun game

Your sprite work has a lot of personality, especialy considering the limitations. The controls are nice and responsive too. I don't think the inclusion of the sword is really that important, since most of the time you are mainly jumping, but that's a small nitpick.

I really like how you implemented the theme in this game. Platforms switching on and off to the rhytm of the music, as it gets faster and faster is a really cool idea.

However, I think that there is a problem with sound design. You see, I think that the music should have been the only thing that's playing. Not only do the sound effects make it harder to follow the rhytm, but it's also just against the rules of the jam. It is written: "one audio channel and one sound played at a time. " Your game however, has many sounds playing at the same time.

Stupid question,  but what if I use a copyrighted character in my game? You know, something like Mega Man for example? I've seen some Jojo fangame in past jams, so I would assume that those things are somewhat allowed? Idk

Oh, I actually didn't know that!

Thanks for help

that's not exactly what I meant

What I had in mind were individual sounds that nokia 3310 makes.

Something like this

I know that this is probably a stupid question, but does anybody know a good source for Nokia-style beeps and sounds?

I  think that the game is kinda clever, I like the idea of "talk" button not working at all.

Because when you first notice that it isn't working, you feel like something is wrong, like it's a bug or that you, the player, made some weird mistake.

But then you press it again and again, and again and still nothing happens, even though it should. And after a while, you realize that you aren't able to do anything and you feel like you are just stuck in this wasteland, unable to proceed, with those figures all around you, that you really want to get to know, but... you know that you can't.

Or at least, you can't in this game.

Also man, that music in the background, or whatever it is fits so well
Did you made it yourself? If not, what's the name of it?

I really enjoyed this piece of interactive media.
This game is incredibely charming. The music, the sound effects and the visuals just bring me joy.

You put a lot of heart and imagination  into your little creation and I absolutely love the results.
My favourite part about this game is the writing. It's purposufely bad, dumb, but i found it hilarious.

I'm not into RPGs that much, so the gameplay seemed like a standard oldschool rpg to me. I'm sure that if I was more invested into this genre, I would see the bigger picture.

Overall, great stuff!

Hey, thank you for writing all of that!
I definetely can understand why you didn't like the gameplay. I really wanted to make it bad, but I think, that I went too far in a few places. It can definetely come off as "Just bad", rather than "So bad, it's good".

About the modifier implementation... I didn't really know what the modifier was when I was making this game.  So there's no real implementation of it.
And don't worry, a LOT of people had trouble with the exact part you got stuck on. It is possible to beat tho, people that playtested it got thru.
Thanks for feedback and take care

(Also, sorry if my English sucks, I'm not a native speaker)

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Could you describe what exactly happened so we could help you with fixing your problem? Thank you mister and have a nice day.
