Really fun idea. It's very hard to keep tiles clean, so over time the civilization just kept growing with me not being able to hold it back anymore. I didn't quite understand whether the goal was to survive as long as possible or to actually win (maybe I'm just not good at it, but winning seemed almost impossible)

Loved your game.
Fun gameplay with little quirks (like holding reload and shoot for a minigun). Both bossfights were well executed. I think the game wasn't intended to crash after the second boss, but since it was the end, I don't mind.
I was surprised by how well the health pickups were spaced. Just far enough appart to be nessecary to get, but not too far, so you have a margain of error with your shots.
Thanks for the feedback.
I was aware of the scoring problem, but sadly neglected it, because I played the game so much, and new all the plants by heart, so I was able to consistently get scores of over 5.5k, without losing points by having plants die. I'll probably keep updating the game and trying out better scoring systems, but I'll definitely wait until the jam is over.
The plant with the uneven spacing was made this way, because the space I had for the next plant to be displayed was too small to display a full sized 5x5 area, and when I downscaled the sprite of the plant, it looked awful. I was playing around with it for a while, but eventually settled on this one. Maybe I'll change it again later on, when I rework the score system and the UI in general.
The game looks and feels great, but it's a little easy for my taste.
I ended up playing through the game three times, once sacraficing health twice, once sacraficing all my health, and once without sacraficing. I only got hit once, in the last wave of my no-sacrafice run.
I still really liked the game, especially the art.

I'll get to rating yours rightaway. Thanks in advance for the fair rating.
The art is amazing, sounds are simple, but fun.
Gameplay was more complex than I thought at first, but the gist is, that you end up burning/destroying one card almost every round, and you have to figure out which is best to burn/destroy. There was only one round, where I ended up not burning a card, so maybe add some way to redraw cards, or make burning/destroying less viable.
It was still fun to play, and I enjoyed it.
Title says it all. r4r, but please be honest and fair with your ratings.
I'd love some feedback as well, so I can improve for future games.

From a looks- standpoint, this is definitely a win. The game looks very "artsy" and has a deamy- vibe to it.
Gameplay is nothing outstanding, but works well with the style of the game, and it's surprisingly hard.
There were some minor bugs, like being unable to walk up slopes without jumping, and clipping into the side of blocks, but that is expected with a jam game.
Overall, I'd say it's a decent game.
I played and rated your game. It's really good. Here's mine if you want to play it: https://itch.io/jam/blackthornprod-game-jam-3/rate/899881
