I caught the salmon upgrade, and the bonefish. Unfortunately wasn't able to catch the mysterious worm fish. 😔 Good game though! It's very chill and cute, and honestly I want to play it at 4 AM while I talk to my friends tired out of my mind.

Man, this went full halloween right away, this is great! This has such a fun halloween chaos vibe, it's such a fun piece to listen to. It also has very I think "family friendly" vibes, with how you use the samples and instruments. I think that parts of this song would go well in a game like Overcooked. Wonderful work, I'm really glad you submitted it!

Thank you very much! Actually, I was in choir since middle school but I wasn't a very good student so I didn't learn much through it. 😅 No lie I didn't even understand what like a major chord was or how to make it. I have been studying music theory in my free time for the past year or so though through youtube videos. I think it has helped a lot.

Thank you for the advice, something that has been really hard for me is deciding when the amount of instruments is not enough / too much. I will definitely be looking to see how I can add more instruments to help the song.

Thank you very much! I am getting the vibe that I nailed the theme for this, which is awesome. 🥳

Honestly I was having trouble writing the percussion so I'm glad it helps in some way. Usually it's the first thing I make, but this time I started by writing the melody. Essentially went: Lead Melody → Drums → Bass Guitar → Melody Support → Samples. I am definitely going to look into the idea of counterpoints, I really appreciate this pointer! Honestly I think I can do a lot more with the supporting guitar, and it would be cool to see that.

And no problem, I had a lot fun listening to everyone's songs! I took notes for each song I listened to, and I feel like I learned a lot from the process. I hope my thoughts and critique are useful for everyone.

Thank you very much! Your comment on the flow of the song is very interesting and honestly it makes me want to use a sample game to get more familiar with how this song's flow would actually work in context. I also really appreciate your advice with holding over the long notes. I have started seeing them as a possibility to carry over certain things within one part, but it's a really exciting idea to try and use that to combine whole parts.

LMAO thank you, yeah listening back to it does sound pretty weird. I'm glad it gave you chaotic vibes!

I'm really glad you commented on the panning, I thought that was a fun idea to add in and worked well with the chiller part. I think it gave some more change to a pretty samey area. I can definitely look more into it though! Thank you for the comments, will be looking at these again in the future.

Thank you very much, hope to see you again in a future jam!

If you told me this was in Dark Souls I would believe you (I've watched a lot of people play it but I haven't myself).

Oh what I meant is, the middle→end is my favorite part. I don't mean to shorten that part, I mean to cut it out of the rest of the song and paste it into something shorter essentially. It's all great, but I think that part is most to the point for this jam.

Thank you briisu! I will definitely be looking into working on a bigger break section! Honestly that is my favorite part of the song so.

Oh wow you know I never had thought of how reverb can affect mixing! That's wild.  Thanks for the advice with the EQ, I just recently learned about that kinda stuff and I'm sure it will be super useful.

Thank you for the kind words! Chaotic is exactly what I was going for with this one, so I'm glad you got that feel even if it's not totally your preference.

No problem, I'm glad to give you some useful feedback! It helps both of us out, I think. And take your time, I got plenty of comments and plenty to think about.

That's a good point about the shifting to be honest. Most of the time when I make music it's made so that it can be rearranged horizontally according to the situation, so it's really interesting to hear this comment. And to be honest, it seems like a lot of people are gravitating towards that chiller part, so I wonder what that means I can do with it. Thank you for your comment!

Oh yes, dynamic changes, something I ended up almost completely ignoring during this project! X-x I think there is definitely a lot that can be improved with dynamics, and probably one of the first things I would take a look at going forward. I really appreciate your comments on the rhythm, also. I started by making the melody before the drums, and I find that I have trouble making it in that order, so any comments that help with that are great.

I'm glad that you like the samples, I really enjoy adding in samples so I'm super happy to see how much love that's getting! 💖

I will also check out doing some arpeggiation for the chill crow part, maybe it will make it sound a bit more interesting.

Thank you very much! To be honest that is my favorite part too and I kinda want to take a look at that and use that as a key for improving the rest of the song. It was the simplest part but it turned out great. Sometimes less is more, I guess?

Oh wow, thank you so much especially for that last comment! I really want my music to be memorable in a positive way, so I'm really happy it has that effect. I think it's funny that you are imagining something bouncy and stretchy, I can totally see that.

Yooo the crows are really popular, I really am happy with that. I was a bit nervous about how people would take them, but I love using samples.

Thank you so much!

Thank you very much! The motivating comment is very interesting, I hadn't really considered that before to be honest. And thank you for the suggestions for the transitions, I'll try to see what I can do to make them fit better. I'm very glad you enjoy the crows, they seem to be very popular which is very encouraging.

So listening back to it I was able to confirm what I was thinking. Long story short, it's two things. 1 ) It feels more chill particularly when you reflect on some other songs that appear in the jam, such as parts of Contrite and Drummer Knight. 2 ) Some of the leading instruments feel really soft/gentle like what we hear starting at 1:45.

But there are intense supporting instruments and we got some awesome percussion going on.  One thing's for sure, there is plenty of excitement! I really love what you are doing here.

Also, wanted to add that this kind of gives me "Overcooked" vibes if you've ever played that game before.

Scary clowns totally work! A lot of Americans see clowns as creepy, if not outright scary. And they certainly are chaotic, which matches the Halloween vibe perfect. I gotta go to work, but after I get off I'll give the song another listen to try and explain what I was thinking.

I feel that, I had to rewrite a comment or two myself. 😅

Thank about the crows, I really like sampling so I'm glad you say it adds a lot of the vibe!

The guitar was kinda a hard choice not gonna lie, but when I wrote something for it, I knew.

I will definitely look into blending the parts more, particularly the "into chill" section you mentioned because that is actually the part I was thinking of when I wrote that comment. Honestly I think there needs to be a bit more time in between, and also the transition part needs to be rewritten.

Thank you very much for listening!

Thank you! Putting in samples is one of my favorite things to do when I'm making music, so I'm glad that you like it. And I'm glad that you agree it's chaotic, that was the main goal. I'll keep working on it, and either way I'll take a look at each section to see how they fit together.

I think this turned out better than I was hoping with how busy I've been.

I would say my favorite parts of the song are going to be the instruments I used as well as the more subtle sound effects I paired them with.

One big criticism I would have with my song right now, is that the parts feel a bit sporadic. They don't all naturally flow into eachother. I tried to fix that with fills, but it was really a patchwork job. One thing I noticed is that I really like how the chill break sounds, so it might be worth looking into why I like that part and applying that to the rest of the song without making it all the same.

Finally, one thing I succeeded in I think was making it sound "chaotic" which was my biggest goal for this. I don't really have much of a music background, so I was glad that I was able to get an effect I wanted despite not being super knowledgable.

Thanks for listening!

This has really nice boss battle vibes! I really love how you are using the bass as such a prominent instrument hear, love to hear it. I would say however, I'm not getting particularly Halloween or Spooky scary vibes. Either way, this turned out really well, I like it.

You know this one has a quality and vibe to it that I don't think I've seen in any of the other submissions maybe beyond one. I really like where you took this project, and it turned out great.

Also killer guitar, I love it.

The name honestly is very fitting to the song. I really love your choice of instruments, it sounds so beautiful, and very fitting. This is great, amazing work!

Okay the instruments in this one, just amazing. I can definitely hear a lot of Halloweeny themes in here which honestly make it just perfect for this jam. This is another song where there's just too many positive things to say, I can't think of any constructive criticism! Great job with this one, and I really look forward to any future jams we both participate in.

This is really good! What I absolutely LOVE about this song is the use of directional sound to create this feeling of the music wrapping around me. I could really feel every little pluck and pull you put into the song in my right ear. Beyond that, the composition is great and very fun to listen to.

I wouldn't say this is super boss battle vibes, but it definitely fits the bill with Halloween, and I wouldn't bat an eye if it was in a boss battle.

Also I am pretty sure this song is having peaking issues. It feels like at some points certain instruments get crackly or sound like some part of their sound is dissappearing. If you could take a look at that, it'd be great!

Awesome job with this one, keep it up!

One thing that is wild about this song is that I never really knew what to expect. I kept on getting surprised by what's coming next, even though I can't really explain why. I really like the sound, it's very tense! It really builds up a lot of dread and fear as it goes along.

Though to be honest, when I see the Pumpkin King I think less of the tension of dread and fear, and more something like an intense kind of horror.

Great job here, this is pretty solid!

I really love the orchestral sound to this piece, it has a very strong atmosphere to it (as it should)! Overall I would say this is very solid, it has nice instrumentation and fits the boss battle theme well.

Reading your description though, I am not sure it really captures the specific vibes of what you are going for. When I listen to the song, I don't really get a sense that the character is being attacked by a disturbing creature. I feel like if you want more of that, maybe you want to go more chromatic? I'm not really sure.

Either way, great job, keep it up!

NVidia Geforce RTX?

This is very Halloween and I love it👻. One thing that really sticks out in this song is how well you use ambience and sound effects to set the mood. With all the witch laughs, monster groans, and bellowing waves, this feels like an epic Halloween song! Absolutely great job, I could take some notes from your stuff.

You know for only having one day to do this, it turned out pretty well! It fits the boss battle theme super clearly, and the instrumentation sounds great. The transition from the beginning into a faster, more guitar-led part is very natural and everything just works, you know? I wouldn't say this song is super Halloweeny but without a doubt it fits.

Great job, hope to see you again! Thank you for completing something despite being so busy with life. I feel you there.

This song is really wacky! Honestly the name is very fitting. I don't think I am getting very strong boss battle vibes from it, but it definitely does have a super chaotic sound to it.

I think one thing that might help this song is giving it a bit more of a coherent structure. I like the chaos you are adding into it, but I think at points it gets a bit confusing and I'm not entirely sure what's going on. In particular, I would think about the rhythm as well as how the notes fit in with the rest of the section.

I'm nowhere near a professional, but I hope that these ideas help.

Keep it up, I hope to see yall in future jams!

Oh wow I love the popping in this song, it's great! The organs and the strings I think really carry the piece, and I love the very high synth addition to it.  One thing I especially appreciate about this song, and one thing I kinda forgot to add to my own, was repeating the same part but with different instruments. Honestly it's something that can make an mile out of an inch.

One thing I really love about this song is how it moves. It really feels like you're constantly taking us to new places, without it being too chaotic and disorganized. It's very to the point and I really like that. I could definitely imagine this being an intense but drawn out battle with a boss, especially in some sort of techno-horror RPG kinda setting. Great job!
