holy shit this goes crazy! i know im biased because chiptune stuff is special to me, but this is just so full and vibrant and you even took the time to make a neat album cover and backstory. looks like i wasnt the only listener who thought of shovel knight too.
i especially like all the little gliss effects, trills, and runs; they add so much character to chiptune pieces. that short ascending->descending riff in the intro was also a great way to lead into the melody. awesome job! :)))
I would play a game based on this soundtrack alone. I love the chiptune style, starting off strong from the beginning. Actually awesome.
Everything about this is amazing! This is such well constructed track and perfectly fits into a Halloween vibe.
I'm also in awe of how you made this all in tracker software with only four channels instead of a typical DAW. That takes a lot of skill and it definitely paid off bc, I agree with Blue Lava, if someone told me this was a real track from a Game Boy game I would believe them. The pitch-bending is also a nice touch👌.
I also love the cover art! It gives the entire entry a sense that it is from a real game.
Amazing work!
This is very well constructed and catchy! Reminds me of Shovel Knight.
I am always super impressed by composers like you who are able to make such a big and impressive sound from classic chip-tune instruments with the gameboy/NES limitations of only 4 channels. Major props to you! If you told me this was from a top-selling Nintendo game from the 1980’s/1990’s, I would totally believe you, then I would probably go try to find the rest of the soundtrack! Great work and thank you for sharing!
This was fantastic and would carry any game that fit's your description. The sounds are all picked out very well, I love when that baseline before the loop doubles to change the sound a bit. Great use of pitch bending as well, and the arpeggio style of NES and GB is also just perfect. This is hard to master and even harder when the track is so densely packed with content. I also liked your use of panning, sometimes putting single notes from a line on the other channel to create movement. You could say I'm rather moved by this, no pun intended. Made me really happy.
This is a straight up banger, you gave me high expectations with your song description and you did not dissappoint. You are a master of that low-fi percussion vibe, and I want to see this in a game.
This was really short and sweet, and though I wish there was more, I really appreciate that you took the time to focus on a small chunk to make it sound really well polished and composed!
