Hola! Thanks for your reply!

You can write to me at combatdicesteam.bs@gmail.com

My contacts in my profile https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/

Hello.

Size. The game field is currently 840x484. Background objects can be smaller. They can be larger if we are talking about movement animations. Then only part of the huge space object in the background will be visible.

Format - png. It will either be one static image. Or a spritesheet with animation frames.

The game is currently planned to have 25 levels. I would like to have different backgrounds at different levels. But this is too much work for an indie solo developer. Therefore, I use as many backgrounds in the game as you give me.

Details:

  1. Definitely, the backgrounds should be single-bit. That is, either color or no color. Please watch the gameplay video or run the demo. See? Dark blue space and slightly lighter planets, a space station, and so on.
  2. Definitely, the backgrounds should be space-themed. Even if some object is not directly related to space, it should be stylized as such. For example, if we want to make an ancient Greek temple with columns and statues of gods, it should be on a platform with engines, under an atmospheric dome and with antennas. Or something like that.
  3. It is best to make small background objects with minimal animations. Size 128x128 or 256x256. And about 8 frames. I came to this during the development process. It is easiest to procedurally generate backgrounds for levels from such objects.

What do you say? Are you still interested?

I’d be grateful if you could give me a couple of dynamic chiptune 8-bit tracks for my retro arcade about space shootouts. It would be absolutely fabulous if they were in FamiStudio without third-party plugins :-)

Environment effects have been added to the game. Enemies with new mechanics have also been tested - generating zones that affect other ships.

All devlogs are on the game page. MUST visit it https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/galactic-showdown.

Still looking for brave test aces!

I continue to complete the challenge - a full game in 30 devlogs. Already 21! All devlogs are on the game page. BE SURE to visit it https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/galactic-showdown.

Environmental effects have been added to the game. For example, on some levels there will be a cosmic wind that affects the trajectory of the player’s ship. Perhaps later a similar effect will be added that affects opponents.

And also opponents with new mechanics have been tested - I generate zones that affect other ships. For now, these are space spiders that create a web. If the player gets into the web, then his movement speed is greatly slowed down. This creates dangerous situations when the player cannot normally dodge paths and rams. The web can (and should) be destroyed with your shots. A little later I will try to make the web burst if you use turbo. And also, of course, there is not enough animation of the bursting web. In general, the mechanics are interesting. After all, you can add generation of areas with different effects: acceleration of allies, immortality of allies, acid clouds, invisibility dome, etc.

Don’t forget to play the free demo and add the game to your wishlist! It will also be cool to hear your feedback on the game. In solo-hobby-indie, this is the most important resource for development.

If you are interested, I can offer to create one-bit backgrounds for my arcade game https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/galactic-showdown.

Hi.

I’m sorry. I want to understand how much the exhibitions held in jams help in promoting the project. I won’t do it anymore )

New abilities added! Still looking for brave test aces!

I continue to complete the challenge - a full game in 30 devlogs. Already 19!

Two new ship abilities have been added to the game.

“Maneuver” allows you to quickly turn the ship. A super useful ability. Allows you to quickly turn around and attack pursuers. It is also a good way to avoid collisions.

“Turbo” is not a new ship ability. It is used for kamikaze. But it was adapted for the player’s ship. Allows you to quickly escape pursuit. Or, conversely, instantly reduce the distance between the player and the enemy. It can be useful if the enemy, for example, is preparing to become intangible or armored.

Don’t forget to download the demo and leave your feedback if you find the game interesting.

A new version of the game is getting ready to be released. Your feedback is still needed. Please rate the gameplay in this video!

You can take part in my hobby project Galactic Showdown. This is a retro arcade inspired by Asteroids (1979) with original mechanics. The graphic style is minimalistic. Usually I use 32x32 sprites. And a palette of two colors with 3 shades for each.

I would be glad if you offered your ideas for enemy spaceships and decorations for the playing field. With the most minimal animations or none at all. I am working on the early access of the game and would like to add a set of levels in an unusual style. So far I have in mind:

  • Sea decorations. This will represent the battle around Neptune. Opponents similar to aquatic dwellers. Barriers in the form of bubbles or space algae.
  • Hell, inferno. This will represent the battle in the orbit of Mars. Demonic opponents and flaming skulls instead of asteroids.
  • Something about the desert. Poorly thought out. But maybe you have some ideas?

Unfortunately, I can’t hire you for a paid rate. But maybe you’ll take part in the project, because you can make interesting sprites? :-)

New update 0.3.0 released. Free demo available on the game page https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/galactic-showdown. Please share your feedback!

I’ll be glad to participate with my game https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/galactic-showdown

This is an arcade retro shoot’em up, inspired by Asteroids, Galaga, Carmageddon and other retro games that have sunk into the depths of the era. Free demo is available on the game page. I’ll be glad to new players and feedback to make the game better, more interesting, more fun!

Galactic Showdown

Get ready for Galactic Showdown v0.2.0.14!

We’re deep into development, and we need YOUR help to blast this update into orbit!

Calling all hardcore gamers!

We’re looking for 10 fearless pilots to conquer all 5 demo levels and share their feedback. This version is still in heavy development, so expect some serious imbalances!

Join the fight and help us shape the future of Galactic Showdown!

Let us know if you’re up for the challenge.

New demo-version 0.2.0.14 is out. There are now passive pilot skills.

I recently released a demo version of a funny retro arcade game about space shootouts. There is not enough text right now to directly involve a translator.

But at the moment I am working on a simple plot in the form of a set of character lines. I would be glad if you could help me with the translation. I don’t think that French support would be excessive.

Galactic Showdown. If you find the project interesting, please let me know.

I recently released a demo of a funny retro arcade game about space shootouts. I’m currently working on a simple but funny story about a simple guy at the helm of a ship and an evil galactic tyrant.

I would love to have a writer help me try to add a short-form story to the game. I’d love to hear your ideas!

Galactic Showdown. If you find the project interesting, please let me know.

You offer exactly what I’m looking for! Not long ago I released a demo version of my space retro arcade game. And it is critically important for me now to conduct playtests and find out the players’ opinions about the game.

Galactic Showdown.

Feel free to leave suggestions, bug reports and ideas on the game page or in the devlogs. If you wish, we can contact you via Discord.

ROADMAP

I challenged myself to bring the game to Early Access in 30 daily devlog videos. The 11th devlog is already published. Be sure to subscribe to our account and add the game to your collection to follow the development progress. Of course, it is not possible to work on the game productively every day. But I’m trying really hard to keep up this pace.

The game’s roadmap is therefore very simple:

  • October - demo version. The demo will contain rough graphics, a minimal gameplay loop. The demo will not save game progress.
  • November - early access. This version will contain all game mechanics, but a limited set of levels.
  • End of the year. Full version of the game.
  • Then support the game as much as the players’ interest is high :-)

Hi all.

I’m working almost solo on a simple retro arcade game. I’d be glad if you could help me promote the game. Your attention is the only fuel that keeps development moving.

The challenge is to release the game in 30 daily devlogs. Already 8. There will be a demo soon on the game page https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/galactic-showdown

Anyway, in the near future I’ll try to make an arc moving in front of the ship in a V shape. And a fire emission from behind the ship, burning enemies and giving a boost. Both options. Just one will be a weapon, and the other will be an ability. I hope you like it. And playtests will show how good these mechanics are and how they should be changed.

I’d be glad if you share more ideas! Any. Not necessarily about a flamethrower and a laser.

So if you want an effect in front of the ship, it would appear, stay a short amount of time, and dissappear. It’s advantage would be spread/area coverage, it’s disadvantage range. Basically it is a melee attack.

The more comments I read about space flamethrowers, the more I understand what players would expect. Thank you for your activity.

A flamethrower in games in the popular understanding is really something for close combat and mass destruction.

tnx!

Don’t forget to add the game to your collection! It may not be an EVE Online killer, but it’s a pretty fun game :-P

I agree that a space flamethrower in reality is stupid. But for arcade games, it’s not the realism that’s important, it’s the way it plays.

Actually, you gave a good idea to use the term not “not a flamethrower”, but “energy flow”. But I still don’t understand how this accounts for the concept of a single player bullet on the screen. Am I right in thinking that you can make a V-shaped plasma flow that only shoots a short distance?

Well, yes, exactly! How come I didn’t think of turning to the classics? I know Contra and Metal Slug very well. I’m fixated on my game.

Thank you very much for the tip!

Hello folks.

Please help me come up with an interesting way to implement a flamethrower in a retro arcade game about spaceships and asteroids, where:

  • The player can only have one bullet. A flamethrower is like a stream, and not something individual, like a rocket or a shell.
  • The player’s ship has no brakes. Flamethrower weapons most often work at short distances. And the spaceship moves quickly. How can I not make a simple ram instead of throwing fire.

Please share your ideas. Even the craziest ones! This is brainstorming!

I’m working on a simple game Galactic Showdown (https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/galactic-showdown). The flamethrower was voted for by players. Despite the fact that the game is simple, I would like to make something interesting, not stupid.

You can check out the gameplay in the daily video devlogs to better understand the game cycle. Link to youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@CombatDicesTeam

Hi and wellcome to itch.io! Do you stream demos of simple, fun indie games?

Hello folks! I am almost a solo game developer. I make games purely on a hobby basis. Sometimes friend of mine (non-digital artist) joins me to share my madness and try new artistic techniques.

Our games

In order not to burn out and have a rest, I have now taken on a challenge from myself - to bring the game to a public release in 30 daily devlogs. Of course, I can’t do this every day, but I try. Now it’s already the sixth. Which means I’ve already passed 20 percent of the way. You can make a preliminary cut of the result using the principle of Occam’s razor. It seems that the main game loop is not bad and brings fun and immersion. You can follow the progress on the YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@CombatDicesTeam

Good, positive and successful coding to everyone!

Galactic Showdown - action retro-game

Hello folks!

I am almost a solo developer. Sometimes a friend of mine (not a digital artist) joins in to share my madness. We work purely on a hobby basis for fun and relaxation. We have two unfinished games (from the published ones).

https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/myth-landers https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/galactic-showdown

And here are the stats

  • 28 Downloads

  • 1 Subscriber (who are you, hero?!)

Now, to shake myself up and not burn out, I started a challenge for myself - to do something exciting in 30 daily devlogs. Of course, I can’t do it every day, but I’m trying. You can follow my progress on the YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@CombatDicesTeam

I wonder how you get tens of thousands of views and downloads? Please share your wisdom.

Thank you for playing our game and leaving feedback! We are constantly improving the demo and have no plans to leave the current version as is. In addition to developing the main version, several game mechanics will also be introduced into the demo and, of course, all the bugs and inconveniences that we can find with your help will be eliminated.

Thank you!

How do you like the demo? What do you recommend to improve? Did you have any difficulties in the game?

We have released several updates. In the updates we corrected some of the comments received from players. Do you think the game has gotten better?

You can download the demo version from the game page https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/myth-landers. As always, we will be very glad if you share your thoughts on what you liked and, most importantly, what you didn’t like about the game. Also, don’t forget to add the game to your collections so you don’t miss the release of new cool updates.

Here we would like to hear your ideas for game characters, mythological monsters and small text events in the style of rpg dialogues. In general, any ideas relevant to the game :-)

Maybe you think it would be interesting to fight a monster that deals damage at the end of the turn to the entire vanguard of heroes if the monster did not move. Or maybe a situation from some work of fiction would look good in the game? Please feel free to share your thoughts with us, we are open to discussion.

Hello game and adventure fans!

We are working on a turn-based RPG in a mythological and futuristic setting. Our game is called Myth Landers. Link to free demo vertion https://combat-dices-team.itch.io/myth-landers.

The main features of the game that we would like to implement are:

  1. Turn-based battles, similar to puzzles and board games. This means no things like mindless clicking, large and fractional values, and uncontrollable randomness. Ultimately, in most cases, the player’s planning and skill should be more effective than the player characters’ stats.
  2. As replayable as possible with a relatively linear plot. This is a procedural generation of events that can occur in locations. Various combinations of heroes and their opponents. Random modification of enemy stats. And easy resource grinding.
  3. Simple, but not primitive visuals, similar to games on old consoles, like the Sega Mega Drive II.
  4. A combination of the mythology of 4 cultures and high technology of the distant future.

Please rate the minimal demo of our game and share with us what you DISLIKED most about the demo. This will greatly help us focus on fixing the real problems in the game and make it possible to have a more interesting gaming experience.

Thanks for your time! You can also leave feedback on our Discord server dedicated to the game https://discord.gg/Wzk2SgnNr9. And please don’t forget to add the game to your collection so you don’t miss news and updates with fixes to your comments.
