Thankyou for spending the time to write up all this feedback! It must have taken so long to not only write but also organize your thoughts :3 I appreciate it! I totally understand where you are coming from and I feel similarly about a lot of your points.
I agree that the game is a bit short, originally when I made it it was intended to be a part of a game jam.... but I took too long and missed the deadline LOL. So that's why it feels a bit abrupt, I agree that it would have been better if I had more padding in there. I intentionally wrote it leaving out a lot of background information (like info abt the naha and aliens), I think for some people this was frustrating as a lot of people like the deep dive into world building. I didn't want to dive too deeply into those points because I was worried it would take away from the point of the game itself when the game was already going to be short, unless I wanted to take year to making it I needed to be really choosey on what I showed. I also liked the shadowy nature of these things, that although there is a lot MC understands, there is far more mechanisms out there that is beyond their knowledge or understanding, just like Ray himself in a way.
The reason that the MC acts more civilian is an implication that although MC was a villain a lot of their life was under Double's wing, he protected MC from a lot of the 'real' bloodshed (aside from his own violence that becomes more out of control), something he himself is frustrated by.
MC does not have kids, when the protection of their family was mentioned it was parents/siblings. I probably should have specified that more I didnt even realize it could be interpreted that way with kids but feels like such a duh moment now! And yes Double would absolutellllly use it against MC.
Your feedback on writing is definitely noted and some of these things I have noticed abt my writing since making this game :) hopefully my next game will be better in that regard 💕
Thankyou again for the feedback!
Hello! I would love a feature for itch.io that allows people to block game devs that would then hide that dev's games from showing up.
Filter options only can work so far, casting a particularly wide net. I think overall it would be good to give more agency to the users of the website to tailor their experience in a bit more refined way, which generally includes an effective and easy to use block feature to cull out more specific games and games from specific devs that they would like to not see.
Super fun game! So much content it's actually insane, the story was so lovely and the end part reminded me of Martyrs in a way (loved it)! There are so many endings it feels like every choice really matters, even the ones that are a bit less apparent on the surface.
Pygfo is SO highly polished, the UI is so lovingly crafted ad yummy looking I want to eat it (particularly charmed by the skeleton menu and the notif popups of what the doc thinks of you).
It's very apparent that soo much love and care went into Pygfo. It's such an impressive game. I'm going to be thinking about it for the next few days at least! Thank you for making it!
Hello! Thank you for enjoying my game :)
Releasing on Steam in the future is something I would like to do but I do not have any direct plans for, as I am dedicating all of my free time to developing 'Favor' currently.
____________
Regarding the choice you mentioned below, here is my logic:
"What about him?" - is a direct question, indicating curiosity, interest, and willingness to learn what is likely a 'bad side' of Binary star.
"...really?" indicates a pause before the question, with my intention being that the player is either doubting what is being said, not wanting to believe it, or possibly just dismayed towards what is being said.
To me, this pause indicates the player character having more attachment to Ray rather than the former "What about him?" which is seeking out specifics without any pause or doubt.
I understand this was a little vague and my intentions may not have shown through, but I don't personally always like to make choices straightforward. To me, I feel that the best choice-based vns force the player to take into consideration their situation, the LI's personality, and the tone of what is being said.
Granted, I am not a pro at this as a dev yet, but I would like to continue to improve :)
