Thank you for the feedback. I left a lot of the original in, which meant it was still just as difficult, I think it could use a bit more work to make it easier to get into and ramp up. Thanks for playing.

Thanks for playing! Yeah the game takes a bit to get used to, it could use some more work to make it easier to get into.

Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

The saving the characters is carried from the original, I have an idea on how to improve it, but I didn't have time to implement it.

The rescuable character visibility is another one of those, I suppose I could have done "something" pretty quick, but I never got around to it, other things were ranked higher in importance to me... like spending two hours on the the intro arcade animations... lol

Thank you for the feedback and thanks for playing! The spider blocking the bullets is not a bug, but now I feel like it's bad. I have a fix for it, but will wait until after judging to upload it.

Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, that is definitely a bug, the bullet shouldn't be stopped by the spider.

I hope not. This is going to be a tough round, I don't think anyone should be confident of making it.

I love Deus Ex, never played Prey, but I'll put it in my queue.

Great take on Gain Grounds. Loved the collaboration between previous runs and others, with unlocking the gates to get new characters. Fantastic. Great all around, hit the criteria of the round and nailed everything. Great work!

I am a big fan of these games, you made it great and it is addicting. Feels like there should be a bit more, like upgrades to the player, upgrades to the towers, maybe a few different tower variations... but other than that, it's a great game.

(1 edit)

Turning Gain Grounds into a puzzle game was brilliant. This was fun and challenging. Everything was fantastic.

Only thing that bothered me was I couldn't take a look at the level without pulling a character out first.

Yeah, you keep your crew on the next run through. Can keep going round and round.

Absolutely loved everything about this game. The audio, art style, and gameplay all fit so well together as a theme. Really fun and even beautiful. Really well done.

Great take on the original mixed with your game. The action was fast and challenging and you included core elements from Gain Ground. Everything was top notch, well done!

Loved this game so much. Just the worm and its parts were great. Some audio would have made it even better.

Very faithful to the original but also felt a lot more relaxing and casual than the fast paced arcade game. Well done! Had everything needed for the round.

A very accurate and fun near completely accurate recreation of the original. Very fun and very well done. I think you nailed the round and judging criteria. Well done!

A great combination of your game from last round and Gain Grounds. I tried to get the left mouse click to work but gave up after dying too many times. I was able to use the right click and dash to sneak around and get to the end. Fun game.

A great game, loved the different abilities for the characters. Imo I'm loving the bow and arrow. You mixed in elements of Gain Ground into you game so well it feels natural. Excellent game, top marks. I loved it.

Would love to see more mob variety, and even extra skills for the different kinds of characters to work with progression, like unlocking doors for the rogue, burning down wooden walls for the wizard, and pushing big blocks with the warrior. Not those exactly, just things that came to my brain while playing.

Though the levels you made with what you have were fantastic and worked very well to demonstrate the game play. Can't stress enough how great your game is.

Great game. Only thing I have notes on is that there isn't much at all from the Gain Grounds game. I think in 30 hours you got a lot in here and the music was top notch. Going to be singing that song for a while.

Oh. Noticed you never used the special button during your playthrough. It's Enter on the KB or the Right Face Button on the controller. That's how the ball works, and the specials for the other characters if you can rescue them. And like the original, if you kill all the mobs before rescuing the character, it doesn't count as a rescue, you have to walk them to the exit before killing all the mobs.

Thank you! And thanks for playing!

The girl's pet is the same as before, can crunch through boxes and run over any terrain, but the utility was lightened since I reduced the range on the ball so it wasn't as useful. The diagonal shooting was too closely matched to the original and I didn't get around to making it easier on the player. I feel like this would be a great twin stick shooter game.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you so much! And thanks for playing! I feel like this is an even tighter round than last time, so many great games, it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if you or pretty much everyone else got placed higher than me. I'd just be sad I didn't to continue.

Thanks for playing and thanks for the feedback. Yeah, scoring was started but not finished, I didn't get around adding in the time bonus. Had a ton of things left to do on this one.

A great side scroller version of Gain Grounds. Loved the different abilities and finding all the characters on the level. The art and music fit well with the game play. No notes, loved it.

A great version of the original game. Well done! Everything during my playthrough was well polished, loved the sound, and the Gain Ground elements.

Thanks for playing! The difficulty is a little off, I didn't spend much time on it and ran out of time to get into it. I think that's a good score for your first playthrough.

Thanks for playing! Yeah, grenades are OP.

Thank you so much, and thanks for playing! The difficulty was something I was worried about since I can't tell how hard it is after playing it so many times. I'm sorry I ran out of time to get that sorted.

After playing the original and my game several hundred times, it gets difficult to gauge the difficulty. And I ran out of time to adjust things.

Sorry it was too difficult, thanks for playing.

I really liked the vibe and feel of the game. I liked all the characters and getting used to their abilities. Well done.

This is a fun take on Gain Ground, the game is fun and challenging and is a great mix between Dung Battles and the original.

Everything was well done, great work!

This was a fun fungi game. Really enjoyed it. I think you got a lot of the core mechanics of Gain Ground, it as polished, and had good audio, and UI. Well done!

Really great take on the original. Loved the atmosphere and the locating of the others.

The gameplay felt a little light, but the experience was tight and well done.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about it, but went ahead with it. If I move it along, I might add a timer after all the mobs are killed to give the player a chance to kill all the mobs and still rescue the other character.

Thank you. The original was tough too, it was hard to strike a good balance with the amount of time I had. Thanks for playing.

Very fun and excellent game. Loved the switching between the characters.

As far as the judging criteria I think you hit all of them very well.

The limitations of the characters added to the fun and challenge.

Very well done, loved everything in this. Reminded me a lot of Lost Vikings with the three different characters to play.

No notes on meeting the judging criteria, well done!

Only thing I'd add on the side is maybe a checkpoint halfway through a level so you don't always have to start from the very beginning of the level hen you die.

Tough game, had to take it slow to get through it. It was fun.

You got the core elements of the game in there, it was polished, the music and sfx were great, and the UI was great. All around great work.

Thanks for playing and thank you!

That's not a bug, that's how the original works, you have to walk them to the exit to rescue them. As a bonus, if you continue, you can start the second quest with whoever you had left at the end.
