Greetings, everyone. My name is DoubleH and I'm a visual novel developer and writer. I am looking for artist to help me make a short, commercial visual novel.

I've been working on small projects for a few years, as well as my main project, but because I want to tip my toes onto the market with a full-fledged game. For that reason, I intend to start a new game from scratch, no concept is still created. At the moment, I want to meet visual artists willing to collaborate with, share ideas, hopefully brainstorm together a concept and then work in the game proper. If you're an artist, it's not a problem at all if you're not experienced in game concept desing, at bare minimum I want to get to know your style so I can tailor the design of the game around it.

This is a rev-share project. The revenue will be shared evenly amongst all team members once the game is released. I can't promise a huge revenue since this is my first commercial game, but I'm willing to provide a healthy learning enviroment and my developer experience to share. I'm aiming at this project to be finished in 3 months top, so that development doesn't drag.

Wow! First of all, I want to thank you for taking the time for writing such a detailed analysis of my game. It's rare that I find someone willing to put their thoughts, much less putting in the effort of writing a "review" if you want to call it that way.

I found your take very interesting, I'll admit, I had underestimated/forgotten how topical my game was. You're definetly right that the theme of futility was a huge thing, how sometimes doing the right thing isn't enough. If you want to know, I wrote this game in the middle of my brief art school experience where I witnessed people there there were either lost, or unhappy, or stright up miserable. I felt quite powerless because on the one side I was probably the least talented person there, almost certainly the most naïve. I wanted to do something with myself, something with the others, but I came to the conclusion there was just no point in me being there. The story itself though is directly based on an experience with an online friend.

I'm glad you relate to this mild rage on the system, people putting labels and not quite understanding one another. It's another issue I care about because it's amazing that despite the fact we've come so far as a society, people still gain such little understanding of one another. You can like try, to befriend a person for years, thinking they're great even if they ignore you and it's only years later when you realize what a jerk they were. Same happens to people you don't know very well, or even at all. You think you know them, you feel certain you know them, but they're not. That's kind of the whole deal with the protagonist being promiscuous. Sex is such a far out idea nowadays, it's hard not to be uncomfortable even hearing about it, which is the case for Faith. Which is why listening to anybody can be so beneficial; you can learn things about others you couldn't even imagine on your own.

Anyways, thank you again for you liking my game! I hope you got a quick from my little "behind the scenes", ha, ha. Keep checking games from jams, you can experience a lot from amateur projects and it means a lot for the makers for you to play them as well :)

As for me, I only recently found out I'm biromantic. I didn't know it was a thing, I'm a guy and I knew I've only been attracted to girls, but I took notice that I'm capable of romantic feelings for both guys and girls. It's not a *super* mind blowing revelation, it's not like it changes much about me, haha, but it's neat to discover all those silly cravings you had for guys for several years were *something* after all. It's not like I would date a guy, after all, but it makes me happy because it makes me realize I can write girls pining for guys, or even guys pining for guys knowing what I'm doing. Haha.

Anyways, all that is unrelated because I'm writing a girlxgirl game this year anyways XD A few weeks ago I started watching The Owl House and Lumity has taken over my soul. Ahaha. I don't know why, but for whatever reason girl on girl romance makes me feel happy and warm inside. I just think girls are very neat :T

Ha, ha, ha. That's perfectly fine :) That's what's great about visual novels, you make your own decisions!

It's a cool game! I liked the general aesthetic and the fact that you wanted to play a little homage to classic dungeon crawlers (I also like the fact that your weapon is a giant pickle). 

The mummy enemies were really hard to beat, their movement was too fast and unpredictable. The blob enemies were a good staple, because they were easy to figure out and beat. The little exploration element is also nice, seeing a preview of a future area from a small area. Really nice game! Good work.

It's a nice game. I agree with the other commenters, the controls make it a little hard to handle. I see that you were focused on making a narrative game. 

I would reccomend for next time that if you want to make a narrative-heavy game that you center your efforts on it. Making a platformer is a hard thing on its own, I would also reccomend that for a jam you took one or two mechanics instead of adding so many elements: enemies, spikes, springboards, wall jumping. It sets up a lot of work for you and makes it really hard. It's always good to try though and I'm sure you learned a lot from making this game

I didn't make it past level 4, so I can't really make a comment on the story. From what I've seen though, it's nice, I liked the animation, it was really creepy. I wish you good luck on your next game!

Great visual presentation and athmosphere. It's a really fun concept, I really like games with animals made recently, reminds me of Donut County.

I find the levels a bit confusing, I can't exactly tell what the solution is, there's a bit of trial and error. I also don't know what the squeaky bones do. I think it would be beneficial if next time you tested the game as soon as possible, but I understand if you didn't have the time. Good job, though!

Oh, totally! I'd be down for that. Still, for a game like this, a platformer, I'd recommend you looked for the help of friends live or people who can stream, so you can see them play it in real time. It'll probably give you much more useful feedback than someone who can only give notes. I can look up how to stream tho, must not be too hard.

Neat game! I really liked the aesthetic and the concept. I've always wanted to play as specter knight! Ha, ha. Using the potions was a bit difficult. Also, I couldn't figure out how to progress at the blue cave.

Nice work, but I suggest next time that you look for a playtester right from the getgo.

Really well made, honestly! You took a very basic concept and made it into a very functional game. I wish you could turn the board diagonally, because sometimes there's blind spots, but I assume it's a limitation.

The level creator works pretty well, I like how you used the textures in order to apply them to any object, including the marble. It's a very smart move. I wish that you could undo actions, zoom in and out, that would make it much easier. Adding some music, any at all would also be great.

Definetly a great effort! It's rare that I see games this ambitious and well put together in this jam. Looking forward for your next one!

So, here we are, at the end of another jam. I'll begin by saying I began this jam with very little expectations. I'm a writer and a developer, most of my recent game making ventures have been rather frustrating, so I started this one very casually.  For those who don't know, my jam entry, Egress is a dystpopian visual novel about dating and choices: [Link]

I was initially taken aback by my teammate, Minbiscuits, who from the start showed signs of being a very dedicated player. He not only began drawing many concept sketches right away, he did things of his own initiative, which proved essential later on.  As it always happens, several members of my team dropped from the start. The person who was meant to be our background artist did nothing and said nothing, and the person who was meant to be our programmer was active to pretend he was going to work, but also did nothing. Used to this, I cobbled together the first demo, and Mint, the sprite artist coded the rest, proving to be much faster and well suited than I was.

I'm usually very organized when it comes to game dev, this year as I mentioned I took a more relaxed approach, taking things as they came. I made no schedule, I wrote only a very rough outline and I did not forsee whether we could complete the game or not (which addmittedly would've helped). This created its own set of problems, but I will admit, having a casual work style really helps with ideas. It's good to just kick back some times, experiment and let yourself be dragged by the circumstances. It's definetly a good experience to have once in a while.

I'm pretty proud of how the story turned out. My writing style is usually very lighthearted, my choice of setting usually very down to earth. I mostly write silly slice of life stories with some deeper meaning, but it was very refreshing to try and tell myself that I can write serious works too. Writing the worlbuilding was pretty fun, I came up with a lot of social phenomemons regarding androids and AI, as well as little customs associated with the setting. For insatnce, people in Egress have become so non-threatning, they literally never swear. Our protagonist, Ethan throws in a lot of "Oh my gosh!"s at the end of the game, which sounds pretty funny, but it's also a tragic consequence of censorship. I was super proud of the twist, I've heard from a few people they liked it and that means a lot to me. I don't always get the chance of getting feedback for my writing, or any response at all, so every time it's immensly pleasing.

Overall, I'd say it was a pretty successful jam. This is certainly my longest and most polished game (once we upload the rest of the music, which is a thing that will definetly happen, for reals), which couldn't have been possible if I didn't have the luck to meet my teammates. It's always a gamble, jams. You want to meet new people, make new contacts, but doing so you always expose yourself to disappointment and failure. I wish I had friends to work with, but until then I don't mind working with every passerby that decides to give me a chance. All things considered, I think I'm finally getting to that point of lettting go and accepting every mistake and flawed released within my games. I'm far from prefect, but I'm definetly looking forward to the day I publish a game I'm a 100% proud of.

Until then, I'm gonna play some entries and take some much needed rest. See you in the next mission!

Game Title/URL: Egress

Pitch/Information: A sci fi visual novel about dating a girl in a dystopian society.  Featuring some phylosophic themes, questions, choices and humor, I hope. Explore the bleak society of Egress, where most manual labor has been adopted by androids and its inhabitants stay on a state of almost stasis.

I'd like feedback on: I'd be interested mostly on critique on the story, but anything is welcome, production, visual style, etc. I'd like to know if the points I wanted to make came accross and if the story was interesting enough to push the player until the end.

Wow! Really good presentation and interface! I was amazed by how good this game looks, it's almost professional. The story was also really good, I loved the quirky humor (Ey Yo Jolene!), the characters were very amusing.

This is silly, but I *really* liked the placeholder for the second part of the game, ha, ha. I will treasure this version always.

THIS GAME IS AMAZING. Your writing is brilliant, I could've never come up with something so cute and funny! For being the most boiled down story, I've never been so invested in something before.

This was a very nice game. I appreciate the sensibilities you took when you wrote and I think it is a very good exploration of loneliness, like you said. As someone who struggles with the same problem as well, let me tell you, I relate.

Also, don't be too afraid of conent warnings. Holding snow in your hands is not a *graphic* depitiction of self-harm, if it's simbolic. I know what you really mean and it's clear what you really mean, and it's perfectly okay with me.

I like it! As a huge fan of detective fiction, I relate to the idea of a one struggling to even comprehend his own case. I'd say the concept worked really well. Glad to see good ideas coming out of this jam.

Hello everyone. I'm a hobbyst developer and I'm working on a mystery visual novel, on the vein of the Ace Attorney series. All the writing, sprites and backgrounds are done but I need some help to finish the game. Namely:

 - A programmer to help with the coding and building a few features. I started the game on Renpy and learnt the most basic functions, but I need someone to do what I can't figure out and make those features. If the programmer doesn't like the engine, I am open if they want to start from scratch on a different one.

 - Artists for cutscenes, front cover artwork, user interface and props. Sprites and Backgrounds are already accounted for. I do not look for samples of incredibly professional art, but polished enough to match the rest of the game. I am open for a different visual style for this artwork, if the artist has a good idea.
