My main takeaway is that u don't need to focus too much on graphics or audio or whatever. don't have your game look like crap, but make it fun. try to be different. in a game jam with a million on/off platformers, be the 2d/3d adventure. and also don't go too hard on urself or push urself too hard, just have fun with it and enjoy the great community
I think the some of the 2 most popular ones were already mentioned, "logic bulbs adventure" and extensiON, and I think extensiON has a chance at winning
Theres also the game (color...swap?switch?) that has the most ratings by far, because they asked every single person to rate their game. don't know how good the ratings will be, it seemed good but simple and got boring a but fast. well see lol
Just a tip: u should make it the same button for toggling it on/off
This helps player ease of use and it will also get rid of your problem where u keep spawning new platforms every time we left click, making it laggy
easily done with a boolean called smth like musicOn, that u toggle every time they click. and use that to switch the platforms
if u like the controls how they are, u can add booleans checking if they already clicked that button, and only let them make new platforms if they haven't, thus stopping them from overloading the game with infinite platforms
Ok for everyone wondering:
Shoot down to boost upwards(dont jump it makes the boost less)
Collect fire stuffs to stop the light from going out
Kill enemies so they dont kill u(might add to your score? didnt check)
Really fun game, id make it a bit easier but i got a bit addicted lol, its a great idea i love it. Gl on the jam!
