I'll be using the Python3 libtcod tutorial tuned with enhancements learned from other tutorials (mainly Trystan's AsciiPanel and Rust RLTK tutorial).

I don't like this tutorial a lot, but as me and my children will be making their own 7DRL, I built a "standard" engine and then each one of us will "customize" as our needs. It seems cheating and an easy task, but for the 7DRL I'll be working as a project manager with my son and daughter, building my game, helping them to build theirs, and also with regular job... It can be fun! :D

P.S.: Actually we are designing our games: getting ideas, themes, choosing enemies... But all over paper, no coding is allowed! And when the 7DRL starts, straight to implement and test the games :)

Hello,

Some time ago I customized the Python3 libtcod tutorial, so my son and daughter can play with it and build their own roguelikes. Today I told them about the 7DRL , encouraged to join the jam, and at the moment they liked this idea.

As they're underage, I prefer to no create itch.io accounts for them. Can, if they finish their games, publish it using my account, or should I create new accounts for them and join the 7DRL Challenge?

Thank you! :)

Hello,

I have the same problem: I've found a big bug (the game crashes when you finish the last level). Can I update the executable, or should I wait when the ratings finishes?

Usage: left and right keys to move pad, space (button A) to start the game, throw the ball and fire.

No, I haven't any problem submitting my game... well, yes: I still haven't any game at all! :)

My question was if we have to do anything before submitting the game, something like publishing information about the game, or a daily log about how the creation goes, etc. But, as I understand, it's just send the game, isn't it?

Hello,

Just one question: how a Jam works? After joining the Jam I start working the day the Jam starts, without saying anything, and when the game is finished I publish it, or I should be informing what I'm doing, game's name, etc?

I'm sorry, it's my first Jam... :P

Hello,

I'll be using GameMaker Studio, FamiTracker and Bfxr (if I learn how to make some nice music), and for graphics PiskelApp or GraphicsGale.

But we can use the full NES color palette at the same time, or should we limit to 3 colors per sprite, and using only 4 palettes of 4 colors at once (so, only 16 colors at screen)?

Anyway, I'm not a great pixel artist, so I'll restrict myself to 16 (or less!) colors, and 8x8 sprites ;)

Thank you! :)

Hi!

This is my first JAM, and I want to create a new game, but I have some questions:

- Can I choose any game theme to create? Anything, like a Super Mario Bros, a shoot-em-up or a puzzle game, or there will be instructions about what kind of game should we write?
- Anyone can reccomend me some website or application to create NES-like music and SFX? I suppose that I can use "modern" music and microphone-recorded SFX, but real NES used "electronic" music and simple SFX.

Thank you for your help! :)
