It'll get posted on http://ames.team - I think they're still getting things set up there, but that's where it'll be :)

Great question!

Yes.
For the game competition they've recently revised the rules as follows:

====
Rules Addendum II: Non-Team Asset Work Contrubution

If other students who are not directly on the team want to contribute an asset, but do not want to contribute on the team itself..

  • Out of team assets from students are allowed as long as the total non-direct team member additions to the project are less than 10% of the total project itself. This includes all aspects of the game, and everyone who has worked on it must be credited, along with their contribution.

=====

And we're honoring that rules change in the film/animation competition  as well (IIRC rules haven't been formally updated yet, but consider this formal notification).

Just want to re-emphasize the need to cite/credit (which you definitely said as well, but in case other people are reading this too!). External music/etc *WITHOUT* citation is potentially grounds for disqualification.

Yes and yes, assuming that all work is team-created.

Music may be sourced as long as you are able to legally use it (so royalty-free would work) *AND* provided that you cite it.
HOWEVER: Sourced music makes you ineligible for things like the outstanding achievement in audio award since it wasn't team-created.

There's not a "default" answer to that because it IS in the grey area - Please post a link to the package (asset store url) and I'll flag it so Nellie and the rules team can determine whether or not to approve it :)

Thanks!

So the answer isn't a clear yes/no with the information provided. The rules folks (led by Nellie) would need a specific package you'd like to download, and if it's asset store (rather than built-in) you'd need to include a link to the store entry. Reply to this message and I'll follow up (my account created the original AMES itch account, so questions route to my email instead of hers unfortunately) and flag her to look at it :)

Yup. Mixamo is on the preapprovals list :)

Specifically (your question was clear but I'm answering for people who might be reading this too..): Animations *ONLY*. Mixamo models are *not* preapproved.

If you've never used it before: I recommend you upload your model to mixamo, use their rigging system to rig it, then download animations specifically designed around your model. If you *just* download generic animations they tend to break. If you're trying to use the same animation with more than one model you should upload/rig each model and re-download the animations specifically for that model. It *should* work if you apply the animation to multiple models, but it never seems to...
