Thank you for your comment! I’ll think about making the tutorial clearer to understand in future updates :D

I actually use a graphic tablet to draw - I try to make the art a little bit more pixelly by using a pixel brush for the in-game portraits/cutscenes.

Here's the combination lock just in case!

It’s based on the rocks outside, and while there is a hint, by now I see that I should probably have made it clearer.

Thank you for the comment!! Mjoll gives a hint about the code if you talk to him using the Q button while you’re outside the dungeon, although I should probably change it to make him say it inside… that’d make much more sense.

Here's the door code if you'd still like to see it!

The Insert key is the default key RPG Maker offers in this situation, so it’s not a bug, although I agree that it’s kinda weird.

Thank you for your comment, it means a lot to me :> The stairs not working was definitely an error - it has been fixed now. I'm glad you enjoyed the art book though!

Okay, so I tested this in English bc my German knowledge was definitely not enough for this TvT" I am usually not a fan of games with time limits - but this was surprisingly engaging, and I actually kept this on my phone to play whenever I have some free time~

Generally, I'm very fond of the concept - especially the campaign mode with the flower modifiers, it makes the game feel somewhat like a roguelike with randomized upgrades. By the way, the book is a great addition!! I loved unlocking all the various opponents and seeing which unique mechanics they had, and having all that in encyclopedia form certainly pleases my completionist brain.

The art and UI is also very thematically fitting - can't say the same for the audio unfortunately, since whenever I started a level the music would only play for a few seconds and then stop. I thought it'd loop, but it didn't. That didn't really detract from my enjoyment of the game, though!

The difficulty is a bit challenging, but not so much that it's impossible to beat - I guess you could make the beginner levels a bit easier, but that doesn't feel completely necessary to me. However, I agree with one of the previous comments: if it's currently not possible to change the way the combs are spawned, there should at the very least be a free reroll each fight, because a couple times I ended up with a board with literally zero vowels on it XD

Overall, great job on the game! I've had a lot of fun playing it and I'm really interested in seeing where it'll go in the future :>

I really enjoyed the opening sequence and the exploration! I feel like the minimalistic graphics and the controls are supposed to mimic how a robot like M.A.U.V.E would actually operate. I actually got kinda attached to the vehicle bc as it gained new parts it started looking like it had a head with a mouth, which was cute in some way xD

I do wish the scanner worked a bit better, as I assume it's supposed to alert you to the location of nearby parts but it didn't show anything after I unlocked the first component. Nonetheless, I had fun driving around the planet and seeing just how far I could go. Great job on this!!

Thank you!! RPG Maker doesn't natively support diagonal movement - it's possible to implement it with plugins but this is supposed to be a faux-retro game anyway so I didn't consider adding diagonal movement in the first place :>

This was entertaining, and really immersive! I liked the little news segment at the beginning - perhaps some more in-game information (such as event information) could be delivered through news? In general, I feel like the theme is a good fit for the genre, it allows it to be challenging while not requiring any extra micromanagement. I feel like there's a lot of potential to the game if it's fleshed out even more and updated with more variety/events/mechanics, etc., although even now it certainly deserves more attention!

Just a small note: the 'unlock second region' objective at the beginning is a bit weird. Not only does it feel like it appeared too early (four turns to unlock something which needs 10 research at a generation rate of 1 research per turn? maybe I'm misunderstanding something...), I actually got a success popup on this objective despite not having unlocked the second region at that point.

This is so relaxing! Like I'm watching some sort of interactive documentary from an alien planet :)

This was surprisingly fun! I enjoyed the mechanics, and I would totally play a full-length version with the little guy becoming the world's best chef (he is still just a little guy though.)

Extremely late reply but for anyone else who might be interested: A Dark Room is a relatively long incremental game with RPG elements that has some darker themes in it (as in, some of the player's choices have darker implications), although they're mostly conveyed through background text/snippets. It may not exactly feel the description but it's worth checking out if you enjoy the integration of narrative elements in idle games.

I knew what the general concept would be when I launched this (and, well, great message! I'm just not sure what to say on this topic that hasn't been said already), but I was pleasantly surprised to see the integration of the theme with game design/UI features.

(slight spoilers below for anyone who happens to scroll by before finishing)

Like, the more messed up the dogs get, other than the obvious effects, it also takes them longer to move around/breed. The UI changes were also fairly unexpected.

(spoilers end)

One issue I have to address is that dogs sometimes ignore the food completely (or at least it doesn't seem to be affecting them), even at the start of the game. Maybe I've been just using this feature wrong, but occasionally it just feels like an error.

Overall, a really well-made game! It's kinda hard to be like "wow great awesome" given the subject matter, but it's thought-provoking and excels at being unsettling while not slipping into total body horror. I'd say you nailed your university assignment, hope your professors agreed!

As a Picross lover, I really enjoyed this! Cute and relaxing, and props for letting the player hide the timer if they don't feel like rushing <3
I wonder how one even goes about implementing something like this in Ren'Py, though... it must've required a lot of work OTL
So thank you once again for making this!!

Thank you for the game! I really enjoyed this, it was simultaneously less gorey and more spooky than FeedVid Live, and finding the answers to the puzzles was very engaging.

Thank you for making this game! It was entertaining and also quite inspiring in terms of worldbuilding c:

I really enjoyed this! Having some more responses would be useful, since the characters don't seem to be able to understand many phrases other than those that are required to progress, but this was a charming game overall, both in concept and execution. I also found the art style very appealing despite its simplicity. Great job!

I used several of your asset packs in my free game! Thank you very much for these ^^
