- Spent hours creating a 3D/2D character with animations
- Had to mix 3D tutorials with 2D
- Created the 3D animations with sprites by making each frame a material
- tested walk cycles with black dots and will finish the sprites probably later today
- Need to fix endless jump...
- I was worried about the resolution with the sprites but it seems to look fine
- Today's work was a lot of the same of the same stuff from yesterday.
- I was having trouble with the resolution yesterday but I finally got the computer to listen(the answer to my problem was way too simple for how much time I spent...).
- It is now able to be run in a stunning 256 x 192 resolution.
- I've finished the important parts of the camera and movement but I'll probably come back and tweak some bits and pieces tomorrow.
- The camera is now permanently a 2.5 D camera style to utilize the 3D but also focus on 2D type movement.
- Movement is fast but I'm having trouble with gravity.
- I started working in graphicsgale to develop the temporary sprites to test movement on but I'm having trouble with the transparency.
Today's work focused on camera control. I've decided to make movement a main focus of the game so a smooth moving camera is a must. I went through many different ideas for the camera but still haven't decided on a specific one. I think I'm probably going to stick with a locked camera but a camera that controls the monkey's direction may be more enjoyable but I'm not completely sure yet.
I've made some shape's to simulate the player and the stage.
I'm planning on working on the 2D model for the monkey later today.
Basically just worked on the game idea today. The game is going to be a 3D isometric puzzle platformer where you play as a 2D sprite of a monkey in a 3D environment. The game is going to be developed in Unity and unique models will be created in Blender.
