And I thought my creative process got weird....
Seriously though, that's a neat trick! I'll have to remember that one if I ever attempt making another platformer (although knowing me I'd probably use an anime theme song or something)

I like it! There's not much to it, but it's cute and simple, and I can definitely see the potential in it. It was a little confusing at times, even with the manual (though that was a huge help), and I agree with Will about the garden minigame, but you should definitely be proud of what you created. Good job!
I really like it! It's adorable and fun. Simple, but very effective. I really like the art style, too. I played a little bit into the second generation and could definitely see myself coming back to this later. I think there's a lot of potential to expand on this, if you choose to, but even as is it's very charming and fun! Good job!
This was very fun and addictive! I like it a lot. The art and animations were really cute and fun. I'll likely play more of this in the future. I did have some issues with the UI when I tried setting it to full screen, and I had to zoom out my browser in order to fit the whole game on screen at once otherwise, but other than that, this was really good. Nice work!
I loved it! I hope you keep working on this after the jam, because I would definitely play an expanded version, and I think this game has a lot of potential. I did discover a weird bug where I went to sleep and my pet was suddenly KOed and had all of their stats dropped to zero (sleeping again didn't fix it), but other than that I had a great time!
This was a lot of fun! I was honestly really impressed with it. I did discover that the pause menu doesn't work when it's full screened in my browser (as the escape key instead exits full screen), and it would be nice to be able to see how much spells cost before I attempt to cast them, but otherwise this was great! I definitely think I'll be playing more of this after the jam :)
Thank you so much! I'm not sure yet if I'm going to expand on this, but if not I definitely will be templating a new game off of it, and expanding on what I did with Booger Bunnies, so I hope you'll check out whatever comes next :)
Also, I would say booger bunnies are basically just bunny-shaped slimes :P
I like it a lot! The keyboard controls did feel a little awkward in some ways (it felt like I should just be able to walk through doors instead of having to press E being the main thing) but otherwise it was really fun. It feels like you have a solid core gameplay loop and if you decided to expand on this, I would definitely play more!
I like it, and it seems like something my almost-five-year-old nephew would really enjoy, too! I got a chuckle out of the game calling me out on my decision to name my pet "Beef." Well done :)
If you decide to expand on this at all, I'd love to see it include more ways to interact with your pet (petting them and playing with them come to mind) but otherwise this is really good!
I learned way too much today about my own mouse-button-mashing skills.
But seriously, I really like it! I reached level 25 before forcing myself to take a break so I can check out some of the other jam submissions (and so I wouldn't break my arm trying to click as fast as possible). I could definitely see myself playing more of this in the near future or maybe later today. Great job!
Thanks for the compliments and feedback! It's funny you mentioned Heartbeast's videos, because I actually watched a lot of his stuff when I was first learning GameMaker Studio. Unfortunately, I wanted to figure out as much of this game as possible on my own at this point, so I only referenced tutorials I'd seen before for occasional stuff. I also never attempted a platformer before this, so needless to say it was a bit of a learning experience in that regard particularly :P
Sorry about the installer. The only options I was given were for that or a .zip file, and for some reason it wasn't letting me upload the whole .zip file. I likely could have figured it out, given more time, but I was close to the deadline at that point. I plan to use a .zip file next time, though!
I'm also sorry to hear you had so much frustration and difficulty with the game. I did a lot of testing to make sure it wasn't too hard, so I'll admit I'm a little surprised. I'll try to fix the jumping in the post-jam patch update, but I can't make any promises for practical reasons, unfortunately.
There actually is a sound effect when the boss takes damage. Maybe it was drowned out a bit by the background music or bat swing sound. Again, I'll see what I can do about this in the update.
I am glad to hear you liked the game overall! Rest assured any feedback I'm not able to use when patching this game will be kept in mind for the next one. Thanks again!
Thanks for all the great feedback! Sorry about the installer. The only options I was getting were for a .zip file or an installer, and for some reason it wasn't letting me upload the whole .zip file. Next time I'll try to see if I can get that working, since (in theory) I won't be so pressed for time to get my game next game posted.
I've been getting a lot more clarification on that issue with the jump lately. I'll see what I can do about patching it, but I can't make any promises at this point, given that it might require redoing a lot of work.
The boss has a very short window of opportunity where you can hit him. It's subtle, but you can see a visual cue when he stomps down if you look closely. I'm beginning to think I made it too subtle, though (it was hard coming up with something I was happy with that worked with the limited color palette). I'll see if I can improve this in the patch, too.
I'm glad to hear you liked the game overall! Not sure what you mean about a 15 melon gate since there were only two in the game, but otherwise thanks again for the feedback and the kind words!
Thanks for the kind words! I'll see what I can do about tweaking the jumping a bit after the voting period ends. I realized it was a little floaty, but at the time I thought it fit the easier platforming I was going for. In hindsight I guess I overdid it a bit.
That's strange about the enemy colliders. That's never happened to me in any of the tests I've done, and I can't think of any reason that would happen....Can you think of anything else specific you were doing when this happened?
