How does your entry adhere to the theme "virtual pet"?
The "Virtual Pet" is an Office, in which the player tries to maintain their Productivity, and Morale in order to make money. The player can then use the money to gain more employees or spend it on ways to keep Productivity and Morale up like buying lunch or upgrading equipment.
It follows the "In The Zone" theme because when your employees are at a high Morale, they are at their peak performance or "In the Zone"

Really solid submission and an interesting take on the theme!
Music / Art we're really on point and figuring out how to play was easy enough.
Definitely didn't feel like it was possible to "lose" money, although that's not technically a bad thing, I wished there was a screen that would show everything so that I could get a high level view of all the departments, besides that super solid!
I made my accounting department to actually have loads of money on their desks and carry the whole company. It felt like kudos and PC upgrades are insane early game, I just spammed it off cooldown. And then once you get a bit of money, micro-management and bonuses increase productivity like crazy. Basically, by spamming the buttons in one department you can scale very quickly, and there is no punishment for it, even if other deps have 0% morale. Maybe it could be balanced a bit more early game (increase cd or decrease % boost) so that it won't be that easy to reach this point of infinite money. When I have one department with 5k$ income, I don't really care when the printer breaks :) At that point, I did not feel challenged anymore, got my 1 mil though and sold the company to Facebook...profit.
Very nice game, it sucked me in... until I figured out that by pressing all the buttons off the cooldown I always gain from it without losing anything. I liked some small but important details like different lines when you upgrade the PCs and the Phoenix guy always breaking stuff :) Good job!
"got my 1 mil though and sold the company to Facebook...profit" Hah! That's hilarious.
Tuning is for sure one of the things I want to work on after the Jam is completed. I agree that part of the reason Kudos and PC upgrades are so powerful, is they have no cost with a small cooldown - One of the things I may look into is adding a price that scales to progress of the game. Maybe have it be a percentage of money or size of the business, that way it remains relevant throughout the game but does not become so powerful early on. Kind of like how hiring an employee works currently.
I liked some small but important details like different lines when you upgrade the PCs and the Phoenix guy always breaking stuff :) Good job! Thank you for the feedback and suggestions :D.
This was very fun and addictive! I like it a lot. The art and animations were really cute and fun. I'll likely play more of this in the future. I did have some issues with the UI when I tried setting it to full screen, and I had to zoom out my browser in order to fit the whole game on screen at once otherwise, but other than that, this was really good. Nice work!
Same, had to zoom out the browser because the game is "tall", and in fullscreen I can only see the bottom buttons.
"I did have some issues with the UI when I tried setting it to full screen".
Ohh, interesting. I will have to look into this, Thinking about it - I'm not sure if I tested the game using full screen. Thanks! Unity had some issues with sprites clipping on certain resolutions, and I settled on forcing a 600x900 resolution at the end to stop the clipping. I will for sure do some work on making the UI more expandable to varying screen sizes now that the time constraints of the Jam are done.
Thank you so much :D, I am glad you enjoyed it.
I like that this is about a group, and not an individual pet!
Thank you! It was a ton of fun trying to think outside the box of what a Virtual Pet could be while keeping it within the rules of the Jam. Really happy with the results, and glad you enjoyed it :D
Neat use of the team! I included it in my Virtual Pet Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to check it out. :)
Ohh, so cool! Thanks so much for including the game in your series :D.
this game is atmospheric, I like it.
Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed it :D. It was a lot of fun trying to capture the Inner Office feel while keeping the game light and enjoyable.
This is neat! I found that I ended up just clicking everything as soon as it had cooled down and this made the game super easy! Once you tweak the balance and perhaps introduce more risk it would get more challenging. I like that you can click on individuals too and get a bit more info about them - this could be used to add in some cool incremental story telling like office drama or some other mystery :D
I really like the idea of possibly bringing in some storytelling elements through the employee interaction, adding some background and progression. Thanks so much for playing :D
Great concept, feels it could be the start of a great mobile game!
Thanks! I had started the UI design with Mobile in mind. If I can get scaling to work better, I may use this as an experiment for porting over to an Android app.
