Announcing: Rogue Citadel! A Roguelike Deckbuilder where you are literally a rogue.

Rogue. Knave. Unscrupulous Charlatan. Purveyor of Skullduggery. Fight through the horde. Collect loot. Upgrade your skills and abilities. Destroy the Citadel.

Based on Slay the Spire clone tutorial series by GodotGameLab, which includes assets such as Kenney's tiny dungeon asset pack. Also used AI generated art.

Did not finish enough to consider it complete.

I love the literal interpretation of the theme!

Thanks for the feedback! I need to add some kind of particle hint effect.

Thanks for the feedback! It may be too subtle, but the key is in the truck.

Thanks for the feedback! That jumpscare was where I ran out of time.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll have to see what I can do to optimize it more.

Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately I ran out of time before adding the flashlight. That jumpscare was where I stopped so I made it lethal, the killbox activates at the end if the animation.

Thanks! The assets I used came with 4K textures so it wouldn't even run on here until I shrank them down to 1K.

For the controls, I haven't had any issues. Once the frame has focus it's just WASD to move, left/right click to attack. What browser do you use? Maybe I can find a workaround if some aren't compatible. It's also possible you may have gotten stuck in the floor.

For the gear, I haven't implemented that yet, it's a pretty early prototype adapted from a game jam game. I should probably mention that in the description.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for all the feedback! I fixed many of the bugs! Also, to confirm, there is no music or sound: I ran out of time. Funny that you mention that the death mechanics work the moment they died. Before release I had a bug where you could keep hitting them before they get destroyed and it would keep spawning new instances of the next wave. I played it to the end and I had something like 50 orange skeletons in the final room:

Fixed:

  • Enemy death animation
  • Mouse sensitivity being too low
  • Player hit animation not firing (still no actual damage)

Still working on:

  • Enemies sliding all over the place when player runs into them
  • Enemies spinning around randomly when stationary

I added it and reuploaded.

I did it! I made a game! It was a wild ride, had to do an all-nighter to iron out the last (well, last breaking) bugs, get it compiled, and get the source ready. I will probably make some better screenshots/gifs after I get some sleep.

You are a skeleton and you just escaped from the dungeon. You must exact your revenge on your fellow bony brothers and claim the throne of bone!

What it has: Melee combat with swords, waves of enemies, multiple types of skeletons with different hitpoints, doors opening up to reveal the next area, minibosses, a big bad boss.

What it does not have: Death, sound, any indicators of mob hp, a UI

There are also many bugs: death animations got messed up, AI nav gets wonky, you can use enemies like a speed ramp, etc.

You can even filter by cc0 so you don't have to credit.

This is my first game jam! Wasn't sure if I was going to join or not, but I slapped something together using mostly free asset store assets and I'm happy with it so far. Very early WIP, I'm hoping to add skeleton enemies to fight and make the furniture destructible. Tentative title: Skeletons on Skeletons
