Hi there! Unfortunately I am not "officially" offering a steam key with itch.io purchase.
That said, please check your email address you used to purchase with on itch.io.
Thanks for your support! :)

Hi - thanks for the offer and sorry for the delay in response. As you can probably tell I have been quite busy with other projects!
If time allows I will get in touch.

Hi! Thanks for your interest. Whilst in principle Unity does export to macOS unfortunately at the moment I do not have hardware to develop / test. Maybe at some point in the future.

Thanks! :)

Hyper-5 V8 update
https://hyper-5.itch.io/hyper-5

Hi all! V8 is a “maintenance” style update. The big change “under the hood” is a migration of the game to a more recent version of Unity. This allows better optimisation of the game which should now be more CPU efficient. I have also taken the opportunity to make a few gameplay tweaks based on player feedback, and to fix some minor bugs.

Quality-of-life / Gameplay improvements:

- Downgrading weapons now recovers all spent UP (previously only 66%)

- Reduced firepower of Sawtooth-P in Level 2 ravine section

- Added additional checkpoint to assist progress in Level 5

Bug fixes:

- Fixed Level 3 boss cutscene on repeated play

- Halo-Bomb mini-missile deployment fixed in Time Trial missions

- Fixed minor menu UI rendering issue on level select images

As always, many thanks to everyone for your support, and especially to those who left reviews and feedback!

Jamie, Developer of Hyper-5

Congrats! Looks like great progress

Most important thing is to have fun whilst your making it. Good luck with your project 👍

cool project! :)

“THIS IS CALLSIGN HYPER-5!”

Hyper-5 released today and is now available to buy on steam and itch. The game is a cinematic shmup inspired by classics from the “golden era” of the 90’s. Responding to a distress beacon, deep space scout ship Hyper-5 is drawn into a terrifying battle with an unknown enemy. Will Hyper-5 survive its encounter on planet 4GDT?

Both platforms have available a free demo download and the full game includes a high-quality audio soundtrack to enjoy as well.

I would like to thank all the asset makers, alpha testers, reviewers, streamers, curators, the wider shmup and indie gamedev communities around the world, and of course my loving family for their help and support throughout the development of my game.

Jamie, developer of Hyper-5

FYI next release will have an option to lock menus in place :)

Great work :)

hey! thanks for trying the demo and your feedback I appreciate it. Maybe I'll add an option to lock the menu's in place. I agree in a perfect world the voiceover could be improved but you can toggle it off if you get fed up with it :)

Hi All!

I am really pleased to announce the release of the V5 Demo of my indie shmup Hyper-5.  There are several improvements based on player feedback to date:

  • Faster ship movement speed
  •  Selectable font
  • High visibility display mode (with terrain collision radar)
  • Support for mouse button input
  • AMD Fidelity FX
  • Support for less powerful GPUs

Please try out the demo on itch.io here:

cool! great to see "how it is done" :)

Looks cool!!

Hey! Thanks for getting in touch. Your SoundCloud is cool. I pretty much have all the music sorted now but I'll certainly keep you in mind for the future ☺️

Hi All! Many thanks to everyone who downloaded the V2 demo of Hyper-5. It has been really interesting to compare the playing experience of shmup fans with less experienced players. I have a few new features for V3 demo to share:

  • 1)Player tips: When you die and / or finish a level, the game now shows some contextual tips to assist playing.
  • 2)Terrain visibility: I have added some details which should make it more obvious where the ground is. Don’t crash into it! 😊
  • 3)Armoury UI tweaks: Improvements to streamline and clarify the UI
  • 4)Route holograms: Some of the levels feature branching paths, I have added in “route hologram markers” to assist visualisation.

I am probably a month or so away from being able to send off the last two levels to the Awesome Alpha Testing Squadron which is exciting! Level 5 is longer than the other levels and set on a strange, toxified island full of giant insects and ancient alien machinery:

Thanks and do please try out the V3 demo:

Great! Hope you enjoy the new PC :)

Looks cool! Good luck with your development project :)

Looks cool!

Hi All!

Many thanks to everyone who downloaded the first demo of Hyper-5. I have released a V2 demo with several new features based on feedback, including  Configurable “Play Styles”, Arcade Mode, in-game Weapon Power Boosts and more!

Hyper-5 is a cinematic shmup inspired by classics from the “golden era” of the 90’s, find out more and download the free demo here:

Here's an image showing some of the action I have planned for Level 4 of the full game (WIP!):

Sounds good! Congrats :)

Great! Glad to hear you got it running OK and really pleased you are enjoying it. Thanks for your support :)

Hi! Thanks for your feedback and sorry about the requirements; the game does have some quite GPU expensive effects. If there is enough demand I might try to add a "lower quality" mode when time allows. Have you tried running at a lower resolution e.g 640 x 480 this might help a bit?

Awesome! Many thanks for making the video really appreciate it :)
