I liked the sound effects on the game and the minimalistic art style looked good, however, the gameplay quickly gets repetitive due to the fact there is pretty much no difficulty curve (At least not that I was able to notice) additionally there really wasn't a lot of motivation to keep playing as there is no score or anything to track how long you have played leading the player to quickly lose motivation (especially combined with the difficulty curve issue)
Would you mind playing my submission for the next stream, I feel like it has good content material https://itch.io/jam/geojam-2022/rate/1591765
Please rate my game, I would really apreciate it https://itch.io/jam/geojam-2022/rate/1591765
If you guys could rate my game I would appreciate it, thank you! https://itch.io/jam/geojam-2022/rate/1591765
Not a good game.
The difficulty is kind of off as if you choose Saviours the game is way too easy and if you choose Destroyers the game is way too hard but in a bad way which brings me to my next point.
Enemies, In saviour mode the enemies aren't much of a hassle but when you are playing in Destroyer the enemies feel straight up unfair, since the player can neither dash nor speed up there is almost no way to dodge the enemy bullets especially because of their speed, so the only way to kill enemies is to go far enough away that their bullet despawns but yours doesn't allow you to cheese them, and kill them.
Gameplay
The gameplay is fairly boring as its never challenging enough in saviour mode that you run the risk of death and in destroyer mode its almost impossible to actually make decent progress without cheesing the enemies like I stated, and even if the game's difficulty was balanced it would still be fairly boring as there is only one enemy type with the only variation being size. 1/5 stars
Design
The level is very straightforward and doesn't feature any landmarks its pretty much just a path to earth made up of white blocks, additionally, the enemies are very poorly designed as there is pretty much no way to kite them, your best bet is to take cover behind a corner as obstacles and other objects are pretty much non-existent apart from the earth itself and as I previously said corners. 1/5 Stars
Music
The music sound like its made to be as annoying as possible, it essentially a lot of high pitched chirp like sounds, kind of sounds like you just clicked on random squares in bosca ceoil and called it a day, however, you do have a shooting sound which helps redeem the music category a little bit. 2/5
Theme
Pretty much as bland and as non-creative as you can get, the idea of good vs evil is for one very cliche and not very creative, additionally, the theming doesn't really change up the gameplay as choosing if you are good or evil just changes how hard the game is and whether you shoot at earth or not.
2/5 stars
Geometricness
The only thing you did get decently right was geometricness, this is a very straightforwards category, since everything is fairly geometric you get 5/5 stars.
Overall rating: 2/5 Stars
Wouldnt recommend playing unless you absolutely had to or ran out of other games to play.
Absolute Masterpiece. If this doesn't make it in the top 3 I don't know what will, the gameplay is nice though the glide feels a little bit too overpowered as with enough momentum you can fly through all of the last levels without much challenge, however where this game stands out is the music, my gosh is the music amazing, I absolutely enjoyed the music along with the geometric graphics, overall this was a nice polished experience.
I was expecting to play a bad platformer, however, the movement is actually fairly good and once I found out you can rotate the map it was actually fairly fun, however, I got an error once I finished level 2 that soft locked me, and the level rotation was kind of awkward to control at times, but apart from that its a good game
Yea getting stuck in that level sucks, especially considering that is the final level (so you completely miss out on the ending) but believe me you arent the only one, eventually ill release a patched version of this game with a restart button on every level so this doesent happen (It will be released independently not for the jam as thats against the rules) but eitherways am glad you had a good time, enjoy your day and thanks for the feedback
Why would I add a save system, litterally no one else is complaining about it, also why would I "fix" my death animation I mean sure its a bit annoying you get to keep moving but other than that its mostly a visual bug, also the pause and reset buttons do work, its just that for some reason in the later levels they arent there and I cant edit the game anymore now
Hello thanks for your feedback however
I was going to implement a save and load system however for the time it would take to do so I prefered implementing a speedrun mode, as after all you can beat the game in less than 15 minutes.
The player doesent disappear when it falls on the spikes because I wanted the player to be able to get hit multiple times after death, as an example on level 3 if you dont time your banana gravity switch right you will hit 3 cannon balls making the players death more gruesome, if he disappeared in the first one it would remove some of the effect
As for the pause and restart button I ran the game multiple times after this comment in multiple different resolutions and couldnt replicate your bug, because for me at least every level still has their pause and restart button, maybe resetting the game could help, anyways thank you for your feedback.
Thanks! I would of personally added a timer and maybe custom deliveries + respawning pizza and customers, maybe money? but as it is for a course with multiple projects I cant afford to stay behind in order to improve this game, that said I will probably come back to all the games I will be uploading in the future and remaster them, the next game am working on seems a bit more polished and in general more fun to play so stay tuned!
