The fun part of a theme based jam is to see how far people can go with their interpretations of the theme, so go wild! Horror derived from a very minimalist aesthetic and subtle elements is a very well known trope of the genre that can bring quite cool games!

Well, now you'll have to trade channels with Jade's, because otherwise I would be wrong and that would be very rude!

(You're right tho, I mistook the keynote for the theme reveal!)

1st who I know the theam of the jam, which YouTube channel comes live on 5th may

While there will probably be an official link at some point before the start, past editions' theme reveal was streamed on Adrian's channel, so it's a good bet that this year's will be too

2nd one I make a proper app game Or upload the game on waebsites help me

You make your Godot game, and then you export it for HTML5 and upload it to Itch.io. You can find some tutorials on how to do so in Youtube, both for Godot 3:

And for Godot 4:

So, question for people with past experiences with this jam! What would you say it's an appropriate game length? The fact that the point of metroidvanias is to reward exploration and backtracking asks for a bit of a long game, but I'm also aware that it's very very unusual for jam games to be played for longer than 10-15 minutes, so...

Related question: would sound effects generated with BFXR and similar software count as "created during the jam"?

Thank you! I did have ideas for more difficult rooms that I had to discard because of the lack of time but I will certainly implement them on future updates.

Thank you! I ran out of time to add obstacles (or any meaningful difficulty progression) but it is definitely coming on the updated version.

Thank you! I'm sincerely surprised and honored by the great response the game is having, so I'm totally revisiting it in a more polished way soon!

Thank you! I spent way too long into making sure the boxes animations were nice enough, but I'm very pleased with the result.

That is a very fair point, I hadn't considered alternate keyboard layouts! If I ever make an updated version I'll be sure to add an option to change keybindings. Thank you!

Thank you! Yep, the movement works as intended, as it was supposed to be a bit of an extra challenge when moving around harder rooms... except I ran out of time to make harder rooms.

Thank you! My plans for harder room layouts and obstacles had to fall out along the way because of poor time skills, but I do agree they are a much needed addition.

Thank you! If I  had  had more time I would've looked for a decent sound pack and randomized the sounds, but I had like six minutes left so I just pressed buttons on Bfxr a lot of times until I had something acceptable. Sound design is definitely something I will work on when thinking about possible future updates.

Thank you! The sound was thrown last minute on a panic and the final results are mixed, but I'm satisfied enough with the results!

Thank you! Part of the reason behind the 4-directions movement was to give it a bit of a retro charm, like the good ol' "move on a grid and push  squares" games, but also so I didn't had to spend time rotating the sprite and making it look pretty!

I do agree, my one main regret is that it is way too easy! Let it shall be an example for all on the importance of  having time for playtesting. Thank you!

A lot has been said about Mario's heroic tales but today's the day we talk about his side job organizing Peach's storage room.

Thank you!

Thank you! I do agree tbh, I added the sounds as a last minute addition so the game wouldn't be totally silent and I didn't had time to properly test them, if I ever make a complete version I will totally either change or remove the footsteps.

Thank you! I would like to release a more "complete" version of this at some point, and I do have ideas for more complex layouts, moving pits, and damaged boxes you need to discard no matter the color, and some quality of life improvements, but when time short and scary things get simple!

Thank you! I wanted to add more difficulty modes with different elements but I ran out of time

A very impressive little puzzle game I really enjoyed! The aesthetic and the music are pleasant and chill and it gets very fun to play. Liked it!

A cool idea, it was fun to play once I understood the mechanics! I would suggest mentioning on the description that you're supposed to move the platforms, as I spent my first few tries button mashing trying to move the box itself before I realized I could click and drag the platforms.

Very simple, but what it does it does well! There's a slight bug though, in that there seems a chance for a box to spawn already on the right bin, as the first time I ran the game it skipped to level 2.

The game itself it's very fun and I really enjoyed playing it, but I must focus on the most important part: those sound effects are GLORIOUS.

I had some trouble dragging some objects as they refused to move, but I really like the idea here, it gives me Resident Evil inventory flashbacks! Very nicely done!

Maybe a bit too hard for me because I have the reaction time of a rock, but it's fun enough and I do appreciate the fact that every object has its own lane so you can differentiate them even without color clues. Well done!

I like this one! The gameplay is fast and fun and the saw animation is just hilarious. Good job!

My respects for doing a very decent puzzle game on such a short time, it's very fun to play!

It's a shame it's outside of the time frame for being considered for winning, because I love those comfy games and this one feels very nice and polished. Nice job!

The idea is nice, but sometimes two pipes (or even all three of them) output boxes at the same time and most of the time they will be on the wrong order so even if you catch one box you will lose one/two lives from the others, I'd suggest making it so every pipe has a different timer so you have time to move the boxes and try and catch all three of them. Nice idea tho!
