GBA Jam 2024 community · Created a new topic Fixing bugs?

Hi! I know the judging period is still ongoing but our game has already been rated by one person so we were wondering if it we were allowed to upload a simple bug fix to our game? If not I understand but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Thanks a lot!

Hi y'all. If you played our prototype please don't hold anything back on any constructive criticism you have or any ideas you have about what we can do to make it fun. That's really the reason why we submitted it so we'd really appreciate anything don't worry about sugarcoating your critiques.

Cool VN! I got the ending where you made the gift and the one where you fail to make the gift. I suspect there might be another ending that has to do with the girl you meet in the flower field, but I couldn't get it, I might try again later. I like how the game is ominous and cute at the same time. Good work!

Cute! The camera made me a little motion-sick so maybe a solution other than parenting the camera to the player would help? Otherwise, it's a cute sledding game with charming models and levels! Nice job!

Nice 3d model! I'd love to see it in a game!

I love the use of sounds! It's a bit confusing when there are multiple items that make sound in the same package since only one sound plays when you shake it but other than that it's a pretty intuitive system! If you expand this in the future, I'd love to see more and more challenges thrown in as you go further down the line. This was a really sweet and charming game for the holidays!

Really nice! The controls are tight, the graphics are great, and the concept of giving away abilities is a great way to interpret the theme and add replayability. I would love to see more variety in things you have to give up if you continue this in the future. Another thing that I think might add to this is you had an ongoing score that adds up on every consecutive run that increases when you defeat an enemy or end with extra time to increase the tension. This is a really polished game and I could see it being a full release eventually so I'm excited to see if you take it further.

This is really fun! I love me some bullet hell!  The controls were very straightforward, and the gameplay felt nice and responsive! If you ever expand on this, I would love to see more enemies that directly respond to the player or more complex bullet patterns.

There was so much to do here! I really appreciated all the platforming challenges! The music and art are really cute, it reminds me of old educational PC games in the best way! The open-ended was really fun, and I like not being forced to do things in a specific order.

The controls were really difficult, and it was really hard how to figure out how to use the items.  The wall jump was especially difficult. I would've appreciated a bit more written instructions about the items. Also, I appreciated that you could remap the controls, but I was unable to remap the jump to space bar where I'm used to having it because that is the button that brings up the menu.

Overall, a really impressive game for a jam! Would love to see what you do with it in the future.

That's understandable! I'd love to hear your thoughts about the fixed version after the jam if you replay it!

Thanks for playing our game! Hearing that you had fun makes me so happy! And thank you so much for the thoughtful feedback.

Were you rating the new version or the old one? Those bugs should be fixed in the V1.0 version (although those bug fixes were made after the initial jam period). If you are still experiencing these issues in the new version, please let us know! Also, if the objects were too far away to capture (indicated by camera blur) they won't count (we should probably indicate that in the instructions).

Fun and had nice effects. Wasn't always totally sure how the weapons worked but I still had fun and that's really the main goal!

Really had fun with this! Kept pressing replay to get a higher score! What was there was really polished, I'd love to see more!

Would love to see this expanded more! Maybe more enemy patterns and the ability to choose which tower to place? I really liked how sometimes one giant boss would come at you instead of a lot of small ones. I didn't know what the differences between the towers were but the variation in particles was fun!

The graphics are great! There's a lot of enemy variation, did you model all the kaiju yourself? The only gripe I have with the graphics is that the Japanese text didn't make sense. (the billboard on the right is also upside-down)

A genuinely fun game with impressive audio, animation, and gameplay! Super impressive for a jam game! I would love to see it expanded more! Maybe some more gameplay variation? (the game already does a pretty good job of that tho)

Nice writing but not very interactable. I'd love to maybe see it as a multiple-choice conversation game. The concept of having a existential conversation with a shapeshifter has potential!

The dialogue was funny and made me chuckle. I gotta call HR now tho!

Really impressive for a jam game! I had fun and it had a good challenge level. Would love to see instructions though!

The visuals were great and what I saw of the story was really interesting. Unfortunately, after I found the key I had a lot of trouble finding the entrance again and the walking sound effect gave me a bit of a headache. I got soft locked by getting trapped in a house with monsters at the door and had to quit.

I would love to see this polished more after the jam cuz there's a lot of potential here!!!

Hi! Love to see a fellow Godot user! I thought a kaiju card game was a cool concept, but there isn't much strategy that I could see unless there are mechanics going on behind the scenes that I don't know about.

One thing I did really like was how speedy the rounds were, you got to see if you won or lost a round really quickly. I don't like card games where turns last forever.

This was fun! Mine looked like a sushi roll at the end!!! I loved the little sound effects and animations! It was really nice to have a tamagotchi like experience condensed into a short period!

If u were ever to expand, I'd love to have a little instruction manual to explain a few of the animations and minigames. It took me a few tries to realize that I was supposed to mash the button in the second one instead of timing it to the animation. Also the games were both kinda all or nothing, I'd love to see a bit of a mid range. These are very minor gripes tho, the game was very solid!

hahaha yea. After our bug fix we realized a bit too late that it had made the game much too easy. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for playing! You reset the ball using r! It's in the controls.
