Me and my girlfriend played this game, and we both had a really fun time! The atmosphere is PERFECT and while there's only one actual jumpscare that's pretty small, I'm STILL shaking from it. I don't do well with horror lol

I would honestly love to see a full version of this game with more involvement from The Watcher. I genuinely think this would make a great game.

I like the minimalistic look! I am also OBSESSED with the music. In terms of gameplay it reminds me ever so slightly of osu!'s catch the beat. the difficulty is tough, but pretty fair. I feel like the hard difficulty is a bit TOO hard? but that could just be a skill issue on my part. Overall I'd love to see something like this explored further! Awesome job!

Cute character design, nice music, and a really good interpretation of the theme! Definitely would've felt more polished given more time on the art, but still a pretty solid game. Only real issue is the zoomed out camera. Sure, it helps with finding other dolls, but it would've been good to tone it down a *little* bit.

Great art, I LOVE Boltby's design. I wanna give him a hug. The music makes me almost wanna fall asleep, it's so calming.

It's a bit of a shame that it feels almost impossible to play on a keyboard, but with controller it feels just fine. Only real issue is that on my end at least, the jump button is mapped to square instead of x (I use a PS4 controller).

The player feels very slippery to control, and I honestly would've added a controllable camera? Both to add a better sense of control as well as to make it a little easier to find the bolts. Not exactly a necessity, just something I wasn't personally used to lol

WOOOO! congrats on escaping :D

rest in peace archaeologist <3 you will be missed...

the thing about the double jump could just be a fault of the level design on my end haha

I'm glad you still liked it ^^

Thank you! :D never actually heard of that game. should check it out sometime. and yeah I probably will make an extended version of this game since there's a few levels and mechanics that I really wanted to include but couldn't. it's something I'll probably do one day, we'll see.

YEAH I may have exaggerated the estimated times actually. it's definitely difficult for ppl not used to platforming games but for people who play a lot of games in general it's a neat lil challenge. I'm glad you enjoyed the game ^^

yeah lol indiana jones influenced this game quite a bit aesthetically. loved those movies as a kid and I would play the lego game a lot. but I didn't intend to make the protagonist look like indiana jones ^^; I feel honored have them compared to him tho!!!

if I were to choose a specific source of inspiration for this game, the primary inspiration for the gameplay was actually a roblox game called flood escape! it's a multiplayer game where there's 3 levels, and you have to press blue buttons to make your way to the green button, which unlocked the gate to the next level. I played it a LOT a few years ago, and played it quite a bit during the development of this game to get inspiration for level design.

flood escape is a pretty high stakes game and takes a lot of teamwork, and I always found it really fun. I would find myself stressing to find the fastest way to the button as well as going through some parkour and tricky-ish jumps to get through the gate. I basically just "stole" this concept, ditched the multiplayer, and used it for this game. was pretty fun to mess around with ^^

sorry for the long response. wasn't my intention. I just like talking about this kind of thing haha

yeahhhhh Idk why I added that. it was 5am and it made sense to me at the time 🤷‍♀️ I'll remove it once the jam is officially over lol

(1 edit)

I'm so glad that you enjoyed it! ^^ I would've LOVED to add more levels had I more time. There was originally going to be 5 but I only had time for 3 </3

I never actually thought about a dash button! :O having something like that would've actually opened up a lot of opportunities for more precise platforming... 🤔

This was a neat game. The jump height was ridiculous, and it's hard to tell whether I died or not without much of a health bar. It would've been nice if there was some kind of visual indicator that you actually hit the enemy, as it's hard to tell. It would've been nice to see that health bar in the other levels too, and not just the boss fight, which I found quite fun actually.

The graphics were also SUPER small, which is a shame since it means I can't see the designs of the characters very well.

However, it's an interesting prototype that I'd like to see explored more in the future! Nice job!

This was an excellent game! Very well polished. I honestly wouldn't have believe this was done in only 10 days if I hadn't watched a couple streams while you worked on this. It was interesting to see your process.

I'm happy that you enjoyed playing despite the difficulty. And yeah, as soon as I found this music I thought "wait, this is really good. I gotta use this."

I'm glad you think so ^^

Thank you so much for your feedback! :D And yeah, I agree with you there,  this type of game was pretty fun to make and there's so much I wanted to do but couldn't because of the time limit, so maybe one day I'll return to this concept and make a full game out of it. We'll see!

Yeah, I see what you mean! I had to let my mom know when playtesting that "hey, you can only jump with the W key" since she's used to the spacebar. I'm glad you still enjoyed it! thank you so much for your playing and I appreciate your feedback ^^

fair! both camera and level design were frustrating to do considering the small resolution >> but I completely get what ur saying. would've been a good idea to add an indicator that you'd fall to your death, actually. I'll keep this in mind for future games. thank you for your criticism and I hope you still enjoyed the game to some extent!

yeah, I'm also not a fan of the abrupt change,,, I would've LOVED to add a transition, but I realized I wouldn't be able to figure it out in time so it had to be scrapped.

thank you! :D this definitely makes me happy to hear ^^ level design is a pain in the butt so I'm glad that I was able to make it somewhat enjoyable. This is the first game I've ever made so I'm REALLY happy you enjoyed it.

I love how the sound effect for getting a box right almost acts as a sort of soundtrack!

being a rhythm game enthusiast, I was definitely intrigued by this game! the music is wonderful, and the color palette/visuals are very nice. the controls however were VERY tricky for me since I'm not used to using arrow keys for DDR style games ^^; I'm more used to something like DFJK, but that's less something wrong with the game and moreso just my personal experience with rhythm games. the framerate(?) was also something to get used to as it was difficult to tell when exactly the notes were coming, but I was able to mostly get the hang of it after the first song.

overall this was very well done, and I did still have a lot of fun playing it, good job! 👏👏👏
