How does your game apply the limitation (and optionally, the theme)?
Boss: You're on a trip with your boss. However he's only in the intro cutscene. Looking back I don't really like this decision, but hey! There's a boss :') | Theme: When I hear "On the edge" I think of stressful situations where you have to escape. On the edge of your seat type of thing. Such as when you're drowning in the Sonic games. This game is meant to invoke that "edge of your seat" feeling when playing.
Team Size
What main engine/tool/language did you use to construct the game?
Besides the assets, everything was done in Construct 3.
Which diversifiers did you use, if any?
I guess retro palette might apply??? But I didn't even know the diversifiers were a thing haha. My art style makes this look kind of like an SNES game, but the resolution and color palette are based on the SEGA Genesis.

Wow, what a game! I really enjoyed playing it a lot.
But the last level was sooo hard. It must have taken me 40-50 tries to get everything perfectly timed. And I don't think I could repeat that 😅 I didn't think it was a bad thing at all though. It really put me "on the edge".
Small suggestion for improvement: With such cool cut-scenes at the beginning, I would have liked a short explanation of the game. When I got to the first lever, I didn't manage to open the door, then searched in the manual somewhere under the game and the lava got to me before I could figure out what to do and press E.
But all in all a great game, I had a lot of fun!
I escaped with my life and the artifact! Can't say the same for my boss through...
Fun fast platformer. I like how the slowly rising pillars and the rising lava make it feel like an escape. Wish there was more going on mechanically, or more complex levels. Theming was nice though!
WOOOO! congrats on escaping :D
Extremely good music and sfx, the artstyle as well, just beautiful. The look is so very polished. The difficulty is ... crazy? After several minutes of trying, I gave up in level 3 ... poor archeologist will have to die down there ...
Death count would be great ... though, maybe depressing xD
rest in peace archaeologist <3 you will be missed...
This is a great game, but I couldnt get past the second level. The double jump is kinda weird because sometimes it seems to get you high in the air but sometimes not.
the thing about the double jump could just be a fault of the level design on my end haha
I'm glad you still liked it ^^
I enjoyed this... even the last level, which I think is well executed and has spot on trap placement. Those last row of arrows did have me grunting!
As others have said... a timer and death count would easily make me replay.
Nice one!
I really enjoyed your game, it reminded me a lot of 1001 spikes. It's challenging and just the right amount of fun. I think it's worth doing more stages and exploring more of this mechanic. Good job!
Thank you! :D never actually heard of that game. should check it out sometime. and yeah I probably will make an extended version of this game since there's a few levels and mechanics that I really wanted to include but couldn't. it's something I'll probably do one day, we'll see.
Great game! I spent too much time trying to finish 3rd level haha... but still, good stuff.
I enjoyed the game, thank you!
YEAH I may have exaggerated the estimated times actually. it's definitely difficult for ppl not used to platforming games but for people who play a lot of games in general it's a neat lil challenge. I'm glad you enjoyed the game ^^
really fun game love the character he looks like Indiana jones which I'm guessing this game is inspired by that correct?
yeah lol indiana jones influenced this game quite a bit aesthetically. loved those movies as a kid and I would play the lego game a lot. but I didn't intend to make the protagonist look like indiana jones ^^; I feel honored have them compared to him tho!!!
if I were to choose a specific source of inspiration for this game, the primary inspiration for the gameplay was actually a roblox game called flood escape! it's a multiplayer game where there's 3 levels, and you have to press blue buttons to make your way to the green button, which unlocked the gate to the next level. I played it a LOT a few years ago, and played it quite a bit during the development of this game to get inspiration for level design.
flood escape is a pretty high stakes game and takes a lot of teamwork, and I always found it really fun. I would find myself stressing to find the fastest way to the button as well as going through some parkour and tricky-ish jumps to get through the gate. I basically just "stole" this concept, ditched the multiplayer, and used it for this game. was pretty fun to mess around with ^^
sorry for the long response. wasn't my intention. I just like talking about this kind of thing haha
The game was tough, but fair. Speedrun mode and death counter would be great. I'd remove the falling stone at the start of level 2 if you do. I died to that more than the rest of the game.
yeahhhhh Idk why I added that. it was 5am and it made sense to me at the time 🤷♀️ I'll remove it once the jam is officially over lol
The art is very nice, and the music fits perfectly!
Really fun game, and there'es no room to breathe.
Good job!
Great game!! Super fun, played it all the way through after getting stuck for a while. Would love some more levels. Some sounds when those stones were dropping would have been cool and I found myself wishing for a dash button.
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it! ^^ I would've LOVED to add more levels had I more time. There was originally going to be 5 but I only had time for 3 </3
I never actually thought about a dash button! :O having something like that would've actually opened up a lot of opportunities for more precise platforming... 🤔
great game! simple controls and exciting gameplay, the background music is awesome and appropriate with the environment, though being dropped by a stone block at the beginning of a level seems strange, but overall I enjoyed playing ! congratulations, keep it up!
Really fun game, and super satisfying to complete!
I did feel like some of the hitboxes were somewhat unfair, and would benefit from being a little more lenient to the player. But overall, great work! Awesome job!
Really good level design and gameplay
Really fun game! The last level was pretty unforgiving, but I could easily see this be polished into a more full game in the future. I would love to have a speedrun mode implemented to compare times! Great work!
Thank you so much for your feedback! :D And yeah, I agree with you there, this type of game was pretty fun to make and there's so much I wanted to do but couldn't because of the time limit, so maybe one day I'll return to this concept and make a full game out of it. We'll see!
Great game! Really fun to play
I'm glad you think so ^^
That was a fantatsi little platformer ! The last level wast pretty challenging but I managed to get through. Music was really fitting too. The camera could have been a bit smoother, but I had a good time. Good job !
I'm happy that you enjoyed playing despite the difficulty. And yeah, as soon as I found this music I thought "wait, this is really good. I gotta use this."
