That's because I copied this from my youtube community post, lol. Here's a direct link: https://sirwitxh.itch.io/shedding-velvet
Oh wow, I really enjoyed my time playing this!! Kudos to you for making it all on your own!! The art in particular stands out so much, and gives so much charm to the world. And the world itself, wow! I wish I could've spent hours walking around in it. Such strange landscapes and characters. Really evocative work. You should be very proud of this!
//SPOILERS FOR GAME BELOW//
The one thing in the game I wasn't sure I liked is the ending where it's all revealed to be a guilt-induced nightmare due to the suicide of Erika. I kind of wish the weird magical world was real, and not just in the main character's head. But despite that, I still really enjoyed my time with the game!
Thanks for playing! I do want to say the ending where the game closes was very much intentional, but considering there are some other glitches in the game like audio overlapping and a route that cuts to credits prematurely, I get that it can be difficult to determine what was intentional vs not. We're hoping to put out a patch post-voting that will clean up those issues!
Thanks for playing!! I agree we may have missed the mark slightly on the theme. I think we did well with the magical elements representing real life issues, but you're right that the world itself is lacking in realism. (And thank you for the compliments on the backgrounds, I did those!! <3)
One of those paths (the one that goes abruptly to credits) was unintentional, and we're hoping to fix it in a post-voting patch! The one where the game shuts down was very much intentional. Hopefully once we clean things up (like the audio issues where two tracks often overlap) it will become easier to tell what was intentional!
The ending where the game shuts down was intentional! Though there is also a path that abruptly leads straight to the credits while talking to the deer which wasn't ^-^;
Hopefully once the jam is over we can add a patch that cleans things up, so it's more obvious what was intentional and what wasn't! (For example, there are a lot of glitches with the music we only realized were there after the submission period ended...)
Thank you for the compliments on the art btw! We worked very hard on that!
