LOOKISM IS SO GOOD HELP!!!
I'm going to get straight into the meat of this topic: Lookism has got to be one of the most amazingly written human masterpieces in the entire history of...ever! I'm far from the only person who thinks this but there's just something so genuine about the story. I actually kind of judged this Webtoon based on the way it looked and only until I watched the anime on Netflix (which is pretty good to!) did I finally decide to pick it up. Kind of ironic, huh?
I assumed that Lookism was just going to be another one of those generic fighting manhwa with constant fight scenes and a bunch of emotionally unstable testosterone induced teenagers try to ruin each other's lives. But it is so much more than that at least in my opinion. There's not even a single character in this story that I don't find interesting. Daniel is such a likeable protagonist (which is a lot to say about a Webtoon protagonist). The side characters are equally well-written and even the mean characters had something interesting going for them. The themes of bullying, stereotypes and well lookism (yo she said the title!) genuinely make me think about the times in my life where I judged people based on their looks. It's something that humans will always do. It's something that everyone does at least once in their. But it doesn't make it right...
ALSO PRETTY BOYS MAKE ME WEEEEEAK!
I know I started this post off all philosophical but I'm sorry I need to go to fangirl mode here. Jay is best boi and you cannot convince me otherwise. Man doesn't even speak but he's already charmed his way into my heart. Also I know this might be a little controversial and some people might even hate me for saying this but I ship Jay and Daniel so hard! Granted, I don't think anything will become of their relationship since that doesn't seem to be hinted at in the story (at least not where I am currently). Everyone can have their opinions and nobody should be forced to believe anything against their will but come on! Jay is into Daniel and you cannot convince me otherwise. He bought Daniel expensive clothes for his birthday despite not knowing him well at the time, he beat up a bunch of guys to help Daniel and stopped smoking when someone advised him that it might help him get a lover (and he only acts that way about Daniel), he has a picture of him in his wallet AND on his phone case, he blushed when Daniel gave him a present, he got envious when he saw Daniel hanging out with a girl that everyone mistook as his girlfriend and he adopted puppies from Daniel despite being terrified of dogs (the fact that he dresses his puppies up in designer brands makes him love him even more!)
Also Mira and Zack are also so cute together! Zack cares so much about her and tries to protect her at every moment and Mira pretends like she doesn't like him but deep down she really does and it's just so freaking wholesome! This Webtoon just makes me feel so lonely and I love it! Oh yeah...the plot is good and the story is impactful and yeah yeah...but hot anime people!
If you ever want a story that has light-hearted elements but isn't afraid to tackle some of the more darker sides of life then I cannot recommend Lookism enough. But if you don't want to read it then there's always the Lookism anime on Netflix that's only currently eight episodes long. I NEED ANOTHER SEASON 2, PLEEEASE!
And always remember this my simp students: Jay is bae~
I actually tried to make a game similar to this concept a really long time ago but just never went through with it. This was my idea: the game was called Love Story at the End of the World and the premise was it was a few nights before prom night at the MC's high school and they were beyond ecstatic. They were a hopeless romantic that wanted to fall in love and have the best prom night ever. However, a zombie outbreak occurred, causing everyone to be sent to bunkers. It turns out that the MC gets stuck in the same bunker with four of their classmates that they had been crushing on for years. They won't let an apocalypse stop them from having a fairytale ending with the love of their life so the game involves them pursing characters romantically and getting different endings based on their choices. The good ending would then be them dancing with their crush as if it was a normal prom night
I hope you find this helpful and sorry if it's all over the place. I wish you good luck on your game :)
Hello everyone! I'm working on a small short visual novel for a game jam, but I ran into a little problem. I found a textbox that would perfect for my game but due to the white in the character sprite it's a little difficult to read the dialogue. I was able to fix the problem by moving the sprite to the side but it looked really awkward how she was off to the side so I added a silhouette of the protagonist's head. I don't think it looks too bad but can you tell me if it looks stupid (*/ω\*)
OH MY GOSH, CLOUDNOVEL IS OVER?!
It's true...This feels like the end of an era. Cloud novel was the very first visual novel website I ever tried and despite its many flaws, I cherished my time with it
So many wonderful visual novels and assets are now lost to time and that probably stings the most in my opinion. Even my own games...
Country Love Story and UwU (yes I named it that) will be missed...I-I'm sorry....I just need a moment...
*screams into the void*
Thankfully some of the original games and assets have been archived somewhere else and I'm glad that I also archived some on Itch Io. But alas
Cloud novel gave me the confidence and knowledge to be able to go onto more professional (well as professional as I can get) projects and for that I'm grateful. But maybe the end of an era is just the beginning of a new one
Hello, everyone. I hope you all are having a good day :3
I'm looking for an artist who would be willing to do at least four CGs for my game Cageless which will be a submission for the Monstrous Desires 2024 Visual Novel Jam where we must make a visual novel about any monster of our choosing with romance elements
Another thing I should probably mention is the monster of my choice is a demon. I just thought I should let you know because I understand that some people might not be comfortable with that
If you're interested you can contact me here: lunarmoon8483
Anyway, I hope you enjoy your day further:3

I absolutely adore romance and dating sims and I've noticed that it is one of if not the most popular genre on the website currently. I believe that the best way to get more people to play your game is to make it look as professional as possible even if you're nowhere near professional level
The first thing that any player will see first is your thumbnail. Making it interesting to look at like a character directly looking out or complimentary colours goes a long way. This might difficult if you don't have original art but there's a lot you can do with just Frankensteining thins together. Of course when it comes to the actual page of the game you don't want to use default font and not include any images of your game as it may come across that you are insecure about the quality of your project, thereby making your players insecure about it too
I've noticed that you're also more likely to get views if you submit projects to game jams as often times a lot of people will tune in to play. But of course luck is a huge factor in the amount of downloads you get
If you like writing psychological horror but still want to appeal to a mainstream Itch Io audience, I'd suggest writing Yandere stories. It has that love story element that many romance players find appealing but also enough elements to let it be considered a horror. Yandere games are also extremely popular on Itch Io but this is only a suggestion as I completely understand why people don't really like those games
Keep in my mind that I'm no professional and that I'm just sharing what I've seen for the last few months. Hope this helps and good luck :)
CLOUD NOVEL NO LONGER EXISTS??!!11!!!1
A couple of days, I went to Cloud Novel to look through the library for new assets but it was shut down :'(
I'll admit that I was never a huge fan of the Cloud Novel engine but this kind of feels like an era
So many amazing games and artwork are now lost to time. Even the first game I ever made 😢😢😢😢
A moment of silence........
Hello everyone, I hope you're all having a good day. I've attempting creating my first serious dating visual novel but I'm a little unsure on how to go about it. Frankly I'm not the best at writing romance anyway but I wanted to try something different. So if anyone is interested, could you let me know what you absolutely love or despise in dating sim type games?
My biggest inspiration would probably have to be Game Theory and MatPat. I loved it when he went into depth with all the cool details and theories he had for the games he liked especially indie games. It made me realize that games could be so much more than just mindless shooters especially at a time where not a lot of people took them seriously. I also thought it was so cool that MatPat was so passionate and invested in a game that he literally made an entire YouTube channel about it. It made me want to bring joy to others even if it doesn't get a huge cult following. Saying this just really makes me miss MatPat :(
Hello! I have a project that I have been working for almost a year but have recently changed it from a visual novel to an RPG. Would you be willing to do the front, back and side profiles for four different characters? You can contact me here or my email: lunarmoon.itchio@gmail.com or my discord: lunarmoon8483 if you are interested :)

Hello, everyone. The official sequel to the Sweet to Sour Game Jam is available to anyone interested! The Sour 2 Sweet is the official sequel of the first game jam I ever held The Sweet to Sour Game Jam which did NOT deserve the amount of participants and amazing submissions that it got. It was so much fun and I wanted to try my hand at another jam! 💕╰(*°▽°*)╯
THEME:
This theme is the opposite of last year's. Instead of telling a story that seem unassuming and wholesome at the start but then becomes dark and gory (for example games like Doki Doki Lit Club), this year we're going to craft games that seem scary and dark on the surface but is actually way sweeter and innocent than what it seems. The whole 'don't judge a book by its cover' Whether it be stories of befriending the monster under your bed or getting lost in the woods and meeting a caring guardian creature, this theme will surely bring out the creative writer in you :-)
Thank you for reading and I hope you'll consider joining or even just stopping by to see what's what ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ
