I loved how simple and self explanatory this game is, although I didn't understand why the mechanic is a viking. the aesthetic is quite polished and... Linux support‽ this might just end up on my steam deck :P

Very polished! Controls well and the music's prone to ear worm.

I had cuphead soundtrack playing while I drew the art to stay 'in the zone' XD

Nice nice, thankyou so much!

Godot 4's window class is cross platform, or else the editor itself would be windows only (unlike other engines the classes that make up the Godot editor are also given to the user)

Thanks :P

I'm basically pretty bad and slow at doing art so I made a primitive putter that puts primitives anywhere then mirrors them and makes an image which leads to this abstract twisted land of triangles.

You can go both ways, the starting point is in the middle of a biome in the middle of other biomes.

Thanks for the feedback :) extra kudos for positive sandwich format :D

The first level does load however, last minute cyclic reference fix, leading to a longer load time, leading to the browser freaking out.

This definitely nails the theme! I just wish the guitars weren't so thin and had more EQ variation so it wasn't quite so muddy because the piece is written so well and fitting.

Woo automation! The VSTs are killer in this mix. The intro reminded me of sweet Caroline though that's definitely more my problem with earworms. The melody has tonnes of great phrasing and develops over each repeat helped along by the harmony with all the leading tones like in the Gm Bbm Cm/D and the G D Eb Bb pattern is genius.

Triplets, triplets everywhere! Very memorable even though the melody is mostly arpeggiating inversions of the chords. There's a nice dynamic curve through out the whole piece as well. Also ending on a major out of nowhere, a wild Chopin appeared :D

You pointed out some rough edges I've missed so many thanks!

How do I see how many secrets I've collected? They're level by level so it's always either 1 or 0.

What are seeds? Hit points. I walked over a bug and lost one - I've yet to animate that.

Do seeds cycle into another life? Yep.

Froze after reading instructions, Trying to breathe fire made the game freeze - Turns out it's of my optimisation scripts that deletes empty parent objects that was still trying to find deleted objects.

Can't figure out how to close info popup - There's a jump button (space) and a confirm button (enter) touchscreen doesn't have this same issue.

Thanks! And thanks for hosting the month long Halloween music jam (I didn't see another one)

The visuals are simply a masterpiece going for that PS1 aesthetic, my only gripe is that at first I thought the monster was a soldier because it looked so similar through the dithering. The sound design was a bit too piecing but the music made up for it especially regarding the atmosphere. Also those bats... christ almighty, I need my ligaments reattaching! XD

Thanks! I get what you mean with the transition to tempo primo, I'm thinking about putting a reverse symbol there to make the release feel more climactic.

Wow! The development of each section is great and it loops perfectly. Regarding theme imo this sounds like a level more than a boss because it has quite a slow pace and has a lot of dynamics and doesn't sound too threatening, I would've liked more dissonance like when the melody does D C# A C G# B in staccato.

The little details everywhere are a nice touch as well, those initial two snares(?) and the Bb arpeggio 'blip' set the stage for the rest of the piece and it delivers!

Thanks! I've got a theory on the bug but idk what's truly causing it yet, plus it works fine on gotm.io which is bizarre to me.

Thanks for the feedback especially on the art style. The obstacles is a good point, believe it or not the friction is set to 0 on all objects because of how awkward it felt... I'm still a bit baffled by it :/ (I used rigidbody for the character for the momentum effect)

Really? O_o I can't try it for a while yet but I thought browser shortcuts were overrode when it's focused on any media.

Very interesting use of 5/4 and 4/4, and also how the sections in common time are split up. You mention the sections sound sporadic, I would agree due to how hectic the drum pattern is and no noticeable dynamic change between the sections. For boss music specifically I would say it's quite fitting stylistically though I would like something to keep the rhythm more grounded when changing time signature so often.

The melody is really catchy and quite discernable (I got a Gm Bbm Dm Dm7?) That with the descending and ascending patterns hidden behind the vibrato are a nice contrast and imo fits the theme really well.

The samples are nice touch and make it sound polished. The section with the crow sample, I would've preferred maybe a slow arpeggiation instead of block maj7 chords so it was more audible and ominous.

Thanks for the kind words I really appreciate that. I must've rejigged the structure over twenty times at this point and settled for the good old ABCD approach. And yeah I'm still trying to figure out what's up with the game.

'just to get your own game rated' It's not just that, they're using the gamejam for popularity. Say on average 5% of people care to check your itch page, more spam = more views = more possible followers, and it clearly works to some degree.

Thanks, it's my placeholder jam for the jam until I could spend more time on it XD might keep it now!

Thanks! Yeah I made the level then noticed it doesn't actually tell the player what to do so the objective was a last minute botch job :/

I found myself inching along despite race being in the name. The idea of this game reminded me of what crash bandicoot 4 did - show the obstacles in both dimensions but swap the collisions, imho something like that would make this game twice as fun!

The idea and level design are commendable but that difficulty spike... are they levels 6,7,8 & 9 or 1,2,3 & 4‽

I kept running into the crabs thinking there was more level which was a little disappointing cus it controls well and it's nicely animated too.

Thanks! The ammo/health balancing was a tricky aspect.

Your take on the theme is genius. I've also got to appreciate the use of the transitions putting more focus on the character's narrative rather than having fancy particles and tweens on the gameplay.

Screwball scramble! With a space theme and a tune I've got stuck in my head now. Nice game I wish had more levels. The only downside (a bit petty) is the jittery movement in the pipes and turntable as though it was fighting against a translate function.

Bit short but gameplay wise it controls well and animated nicely. The music could be better though, some 'question answer' phrasing and moving the tritone to a 4th or 5th could help.

... you've uploaded the godot project instead of the game

That credits scene was shorter than I expected for a game of this quality! Great satisfying game... stage three is just cruel tho.

Different browser worked (was in brave, worked in firefox) discovered levels 2&3 :D

Thanks! I'm thinking the problem atm is the larger AIs don't have the ability to react to the player yet other than using look_at.

I got the bugs but there were no flowers? Also the difficulty gets easier as it goes on, the ball almost took up the entire screen by the end.

Nice, it's a great puzzle/platformer. The 'maybe something else' I'm gonna guess sound ;)
