Very fun well designed strategic game here 5/5! Great job, it took a moment to get used to everything going on even after the tutorial but once I understood, it was phenomenal. Expand on the bosses one be the main thing!

Hey there, I am trying to get other to re-submit their reviews for my game if possible...it was deleted and removed from the Jam on accident based on a technicality which was solved between the Jam Host and a particular asset used in the game...please if you have time, energy, and/or generosity to re-saved your ratings/reviews for the game. I am going through and re-saving yours given my browser kept your rating saved data on my end...but it looks like I lost all 73 reviews and ratings from my end....  :( best of luck to you in the Jam

Sorry for the inconvenience if you have a chance to rate/re-rate

The main mechanic of placing platform is really intuitive and fun to use. The controls on the keyboard are a little bit weird although usable, and I appreciate the controller support. The main pain point for me is that there isn't much clarity of objective or if I'm doing damage to the boss. Overall, I think that is a game with a solid foundation and a lot of potential. Great job!

Game has a lot of potential as for a demo prototype. Platforms that you can place are really cool mechanic that gives players a lot of freedom in gameplay!

The bosses are looking kinda goofy and there is a real mismatch of platforms and background textures and style with the bosses texture, but for the most part it's not that crucial.

Interesting game with a really cool ideas!

Really liked the platforms and how multi-functional they were. Definitely could use more bosses (Same for me) I was so ready to try out different things.

This is very interesting, gameplay is quite fun and easy to get into! Nice use of SFX too, really satisfying to use the hammer. Only thing I wish for is more boss fights. Also I noticed the button mappings are a bit unusual, especially for jumping & hammer in the gamepad. But not really a big deal. Well done on your entry!

Developer

Thank you.  I'm never certain on button allocation. I'd check more games later to find a kind of common layout, also for the keyboard. Then add a config screen.  Then definitely more bosses will come later, as I think I'll keep developing this.

Usually button south | X on playstation | A on Xbox are used for jumping.
While button west | ▢ on playstation | X on Xbox are used for basic attack.
The button mapping you have for spawning platforms seems perfectly fine.

The game is so much fun and what an original take on the theme, great job, just needs some more bosses.

This I thought was quite cool. I liked the art and the unique approach to a boss fight that you came up with. I particularly liked the platform placing ability, which I thought was a lot of fun.

My only note would be that it might have been cool to have the boss substantially increase in difficulty as you get closer to fixing every part of it. As it was, it didn't feel like it was building up much as the fight went on. I felt that made it fall a bit flat at the end.

Developer

Thank you, and I agree about the increasing difficulty. I managed to get overall game difficulty levels in, and the purpose was to control difficulty on each part so I could get the exact escalation you're talking about. It was a bit risky so late in the game, as I didn't want to risk somebody going from entry level to impossible after one component! :D

Awesome polished game! Literally me vs my code at 3 in the morning
This is totally not a military project, i trust my boss

I loved how simple and self explanatory this game is, although I didn't understand why the mechanic is a viking. the aesthetic is quite polished and... Linux support‽ this might just end up on my steam deck :P

Developer(+1)

I couldn't develop the story too much in the jam, but if I expand it, the idea would be you discover this abandoned forge of a legendery viking, and retrofit it to fix robots, or something like that. ;)

Man this game mechanic is REALLY fun. It's probably one of my favorite fights of this jam so far. Love how you can use the platforms in different ways, and the freedom you have. Great boss design, loved playing this game. You guys really inspired to have more creative ideas for boss fights (:

One of the few games I rated 5 stars for Fun category.

Developer(+1)

Much appreciated. I'm happy you had fun!

The attacks are very diverse. I like how the basic mechanics can be used in different ways to protect

Submitted(+1)

Well done, seems very polished with the focus on a high quality boss fight. I love the various attack styles of the boss as well as the possibility to build platforms. The fight is totally balanced and the difficulty rises slightly. Good job.

Love love love the platform mechanic and how it gets used. The bosses have a sort of reverse snowball effect where they start out with lots of attacks and end with very few; maybe in future builds you could have the fixed parts gain new attacks, or provide buffs and support to the remaining broken parts.

Developer

Thank you.   For the reverse snowball I had planned to increase the difficulty level, since all the individual components can be more dangerous -- though I'll also look at adding additional attacks.

I love the exchanging mechanics, the gameplay is super polished and the systems work perfectly, very solid and fun game.

Developer

Much appreciated, thank you!

Wow nice art style and interesting bosses. Well done!!!!!

Submitted(+1)

This game was very nice, I liked how you tied in the theme nicely with responsive controls.

Developer

Thank you kindly!

The bosses are cool, and so are the visuals. Took a while for my clumsy fingers to get used to the keyboard controls, but things went really smoothinly once I got that figured out.

Developer(+1)

Thanks. Yeah, I don't think the keyboard is ideal. It's on my post-jam list to survey other platforming games with similar mechanics and find a better default layout.

Hi, is there support for keyboard and mouse? not seeing any options in the menu.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

There is keyboard support: A,D left/right and , . (comma, dot) for hammer and jump.  By the labels on the gamepad image it shows the keys as a reminder.  No mouse support -- there's no aiming either.

Submitted(+1)

ah my bad when I launched the game I did look at the controller must've missed it.

Submitted(+1)

I loved the art, music, controls, and game play. The use of theme was great too.

Developer

Thank you very much!

Great game! I really like the boss design & unconventional battling. The music & visuals are really well done. Took me a bit to figure out that you can destroy your old platforms to make room for new ones. Other than that I had no issues.

Developer

Thank you kindly.  I would definitely like to create an improved tutorial post-jam to more step-wise expose each concept.
