small push and a hint to my much more active twitter.

Hey!

It's great to receive a reply after such a long time! Unfortunately, finding a Korean translator proficient in English has proven challenging, which lead us to temporarily suspend the effort.
I reached out to the head of development and I’ll promptly update you once I hear back.
We haven't discussed the possibility of implementing Korean in a while for aforementioned reasons, so I can't make a decision on my own at the moment.

In more exciting news, Window Garden has expanded its reach! The iOS version is now available, eliminating the previous limitations to Android and emulators for testing and gameplay.

Could you provide us with an email or twitter account to contact you about our decision? You can DM me on twitter @InfoRosebrock or reach out to me directly on the Window Garden Discord. I am nicked as Jen there, too, taged with the blue Translator role!

Thanks again for reaching out!

Edit: already got the reply: Korean is in the works already. Sorry, I wasn't informed...

I'd love to support you with a german localization! The game is adorable!

Hey, I am Jen.

I am looking to join a developer and their passion project as an English to German translator. I am particularly interested in working with individuals who may not have the resources for a professional translation team, or perhaps someone who has considered implementing German localizations but hasn’t yet found the right person for the job.

Over the past three years, I have been translating games and have recently published a book on Amazon. While my passion lies in the genres of horror and thrill, I am open to working on a variety of projects.

As a gamer myself, I love text-adventures like Zork and horror games like Visage or Song of Horror. Having spent over 4000 hours each in Dead by Daylight and Overwatch, I have gained a solid understanding of gaming terminology in both English and German.

Here are some of the projects I’ve worked on:

  • Ongoing Games: Window Garden, Industry Idle
  • Completed Games: Don’t Find Me, Sinister, My Father Lied, Dr. Atominus, Gambit Shifter, Ladies of Sorrow, Saving the Last Petal, The Hole, etc.
  • Games (LQA): Harvest Island
  • Book: The Lost Letters of Hamburg (handwritten cursive transcript/ translation)

If you think we could collaborate and create something amazing, feel free to reach out via email or Twitter.

Yeah. I am aware it's 2.5D- ish. But I more so meant the way the 2D art is drawn. The lineart and coloring.
I saw in another comment and you are working on more, so that's all I needed to hear :)

I don't remember it out of my head, I would need to replay it. Once I do I will let you know :x

You had a brilliant day, eh? :'D
Don't worry, I didn't see anything ^^

Fingers crossed you don't mean SCP ^^

Hey there! Working on something cool? Awesome! Listen up,
this won’t take long, promise. I’m planning to wrap up my current translation work by early-mid November and I’m sending out this open call to all you incredible creators, no matter what you’re working on.

I thrive on thrill and suspense. Horror and thriller games are my go-to, and disturbing content is my happy place. But I also have a soft spot for the cute, the classic, and the surreal. Interactive fiction, MMOs, and shooters have claimed hundreds of hours in my Steam library, but I’m still searching for that special something.

We’re a match made in heaven if you think we could take a step closer to creating that special something together. Check out my Itch profile for games I’ve localized and a selection of games that reflect my personal taste.
For my latest collaborations, head over to my Twitter:

Hello Hobbydevs out there.

Clover-Fi Games is in need of 2 1 Translators to create a japanese and korean localization for Window Garden.
At this point the game has roughly 4000 Words.
We are looking for native speakers! The source language is English.

I got my eyes on it!!! I wish you all the best for the campain. ♥

I wondered how things are going, it's been a few years. Today I noticed that I think back to your game a lot as one of the first itch games I intensively played in terms of spoting bugs, discovering every m² on the map and so on. It's also the 2nd game I ever put into a collection.
You left a great impression somehow, I wanted to have you know that!

Man, I am such a bread. 'I wonder if you can make physical games' - Yes you can lol. That's freakin amazing yo!!! My GB advance will glimm 24/7 if I get my hand at this some day !!! Excited for you!

(1 edit)

Who didn’t start with a GB :') My journey was like this: GB color, GB advance, SNES, GameCube, Xbox 360, PC. I wish I still had a working GB color. I wonder if you can still make a physical gameboy game- Anyway, awesome that you’re thinking about translations. It’s always a plus, right (:
(edit: I saw the recent update right after I replied! Nice!)

I’m telling you, the waffles series is a hidden gem, and I’m stoked to help shape the german player experience. That’s payment enough for me, tbh. There’s always the ‘pay what you want’ option via Paypal but I’d rather have a handwritten post card as a souvenir. (not kidding) Budget- no worries. I think the normal rate is like 3-5 cents/word but I’m not in it for the money. Money shouldn’t be a barrier and if that’s what’s holding you back from expanding the game, I’m more than happy to do it for free or whatever you can afford.

Hmu when the day comes:
Mail: jennifer.rosebrock@gmx.de - Discord: MattIvory#8301 - Twitter

May I carefully ask if you got any other or new plans re: waffles or is the series closed? I kinda want to play more tbh

Thank you for the detailed feedback! I’m super happy that you’re interested despite my concerns. I’ve read a bit more into your devlog and realized that men won’t be a problem for me in this case. My fear is always that I make a man too feminine in a romantic situation, or at least think that I make him too soft. When writing women, I have no worries! :) In an early devlog, I saw that you’re at around 7k words so far, if that stays roughly the same, I’m very confident that I can finish it by the end of November or maybe earlier. Your positive feedback has motivated me a lot to complete one of the other games almost entirely, so everything could go much faster than expected! In what format do you write your texts, or what software would I need to get? I’m asking because I was asked last week to work with a very weird translation tool that hindered me more than helped me. Otherwise, I’m very easy-going and can handle almost any software with a bit of patience, but if I have to buy something (software), I’d have to plan ahead ^^

Hey! I am not sure I can meet your deadline as I am currently engaged with two other games. I’d prefer to see those completed before I commit to a new project. However, I would appreciate being considered.

Although I have experience with localisations across various genres, my experience with romance is limited (1 visual novel about 2 men falling in love). Writing male characters is challenging for me but I gladly take any chance to practice and improve.
Could you clarify how you interpret ‘romance’? If your novel interprets romance more physically than emotionally, I might not be the best fit for you. In general, I confess that I’d like to give it a go and see how it progresses rather than fully committing at this stage.

My pair is en-de.
If it doesn't click for either of us, I am available for proofreading at any time.

I will keep this one in mind and give it more thoughts

I see what you did there!!!

15 ish years ago I had a version of this on my phone. It was super addicting.

I am afraid you didn't intend to reinvent it but in case you did I hope you will polish it to 101%!

Sadly, after all those years, I cannot remember the game title. I WISH I could remember- do you know what I am talking about?

It was this in a dark theme with neon colors, touching the border not allowed and some sort of pendula was swinging around dots instead of sliding on the circle..

thanks! :)

You never failed to entertain me! I hope you keep the principle of quality over quantity. I'll be there for whatever is to come! :)

Sure did! The improvement from game to game is immense!

Well, I need to thank you for making it, I guess ;)

Ay, Let's dooo thiis! ( ◡̀_◡́)ᕤ

Rule 2 already has me hooked. I can see an entire game built just around that line and I hope this will somehow be the case.

Rule 2 actually made me stop to tell people about it and come up with theories about it.

You raised the bar already with that one!

From my first impression, I would recommend having someone proofread the intro parts that contain thoughts and indirect speech. It could be smoother to read with proper punctuation to it! :) (I see someone else also commented that half a year ago, I agree!)

Make sure to check back for an edit to this post. I will add to this as I play!

First edit:

I need more time to read. I had no chance to die in front of the painting because the blinking happened before I was done reading the first paragraph. The Option in the Basement that disappears with the 2nd text block appearing was also gone at the point I reached the clickable part. I know I am not this slow. Somehow I feel like I had no chance to click the basement options without knowing the game before going there and that felt unfair and a bit demotivating to continue. I will tho. I like the concept, especially the compass and quest mechanic as such.

My god, the art is incredible and for it being free, it offers quite some play time. Time to check out what you pushed out after this *-*

I can't affort the full game at the moment, but the Demo play in Browser has typos in the German version I'd like to mention. You'd either title the options Einstellungen (missing the N; Einstellung is singular but Einstellunge does not exist) or Optionen.

Play should be "Spielen", not "Speilen"

That's for the very obvious ones that hit you when you open the game. Feel free to drop a mail in case you would like me to proofread what you got! Having the Play button missspelled is quite crucial ^^

Besides that, it took me llonger than I like to admit to complete the Demo. Very well done! I like to be challanged! I hope I can grab the full game next month! I am sure it's worth it.

Oh, the mail: jennifer.rosebrock@gmx.de ; I can share my private discord there too!

All feedback I can give is this:

I am very confused tbh because the URL name is german... The settings are also partly untranslated.
There are also some missing strings:

Can I help you out solving some of those issues in any way? It's a shame that this great game is being let down by localization! :))

here the quest asks to go to the "Gastwirt" whos standing on the left. It took me longer than I like to admit to figure out that it's the person down the hallway.

Beim Putzen.

Well, I can't screenshot everything- you get my point. I recommend to play in English for everyone else! That versions reads better so far! :)

First of all: I had no problem signing up or logging in. However, I noticed right away that there are issues with the german localization, see the example in the screenshot, it's the 2nd text field to pop up and I am considering to switch to english because I am sure that version is written much better! :) :s

If you wanted to fix this particular one: jemandem instead of jemanden (Dativ) and Handybildschirm as one word. Ignoring the sentence structure here. Not going to deep into it, because there is something here and there and this would become a long error-report. A short note to punctuation: the word 'indem' generally needs a comma (, indem). Do you eventually have a community sheet up for translations? The gameplay is good and I think some proofreading would not hurt the game!

I am an hour in but I will update this in case I run into bugs! I like the concept of the free MMO, especially playable in browser. I got great hopes for this to evolve into something massive!

Is there a name for the art style? I saw quite a few games pop up looking like this but I can't nail my google search to get anywhere useful.

I clearly want to see more games set in this style and/or an extented version of this!

(1 edit)

Hey, I wanted to let you know about these:

1. chosing house + backpack leads to a mess when hovering the mouse over the word 'reach' right below the word 'house'. I cannot hover and screenshot it but it looks very wrong

2. Typo in 'maintaining good grades' - currently spells: maintaing

- ofc I got to a bad ending :') Thats typical. Anyways, I was kinda happy I could chose 'play with your hair' cause that is a tick I am having IRL for all my life. I can not not touch my hair.

You combined many great features and art styles and they all make sense together. A solid concept, a well-written story aka intuitive mono/dialogue and I was happily surprised that I was busy for more than 30 minutes.

I didn't spot a single bug, yet but maybe in a 2nd run (:

The best thing about this game page is you as the dev though ngl. Still updating the games shows that you care and that you enjoy what you made. I can see your passion for the project inside the game and imho Time is Solid Here completely stands out from other itch games.

I kinda wish I had some critics to give but- believe it or not - I can't complain at this point at all! :)

Let me know if you would like to add german to the game as well!

new link?

If I have ever seen rusty lake inspiration you toped it all. Surely the art isnt as clean as the RL art but the cube and general lineart/ perspective and simplicity surely remind me of them!

It seems the game will stay in early developement for another long while- wondering what you are up to by now.

Heartfelt greetings!

Visually its great, the puzzles are anything but boring, the overall audio is great but sadly my ears crumble under this 'voice' style. It kinda forced me to fastskip the dialogue, which is a shame because the parts I did read on the run were very well written.

Maybe it was an unlucky timing to open up this game, as I just came from another game with this sound and might be a bit triggered from that :c

Though, this may sound like a negative review to some inconfident I think that the art and mechanics are wining it for this game and I believe the story does too, even though I skiped some. May check it out muted but thats a shame for the other sounds.

Specially the intro was very well made, I liked the contrast of the elements, the movement with the mouse, the knock, everything abt the start was perfect - untill the sound hit me but I will stop.

Muted I give it a 8/10, with this squeeky sound- I rly dont know tbh..

Given the submission rules you nailed it. As a stand-alone I know you can do more :)

Ahh see, I just saw the other update post on dollhouse and said it could easily have 10k downloads but OFC this one made it. (dummie me lol.) That is absolutely amazing, very very proud of you! I remember forcing my best friend to play it for me as my PC broke down a while back and we had a blast! I was hoping for Insym to pick it up but afaik he didn't yet :'(

The tape had me reminded of the amazing wttg/scrutinized series, not quite sure why exactly but I feel that you got a similar mindset and goal as a developer and I am 100% here for the journey!

It was surely a great game. I am shocked it is 'just' 1000, I thought it could easily have a 0 more! ♥

A shame you did not bring this out in english this time. Interactive Fiction is a genre I so deeply admire- usually I would use my browser addon to translate the text but you didnt give us a browser version either this time :'( I am crying! :D

But I love your games, the way you write- I'll be waiting for an en version if ever- ...

I do recommend this writer to anyone though: If you understand this games page you will love the game!

I already commented the same thing on your blog but can't stop myself from triggering the algorythm some more.
I can't see what kind of players would not like this game, it has intruiging elements from various genres, set in a classy style and ofc we are featuring cats here - cmon. Try it, comment it and rate it - I cant believe I havent seen this on the front page :O

Thanks for the play in browser version ♥
You did a very good job. The english version reads well, don't worry :)
What inspired you to develope for GB? I love the GBc but I don't see much love for it in modern developement :c
I hope you consider to add german as well some day. I'd be down to help you out if needed.

I will drop a seperate comment in case I run into any bug or errors in the future! :)
