My second devlog

I'll be doing some video devlogs over on YouTube for this Jam. Here is the first one.

I wanted to add music but it wasn't working for some unknown reason. As for everything else I have no idea what's going on. The game should go on until the player dies.

As for my getting the fullscreen to work, I think all you have to go to your Games properties and under "Resolution and Rendering" look for the "Game Resolution resize mode" dropdown, and choose "No changes to the game size".

Thanks for your feedback, I'll probably fix the bugs after the jam is over.

I'm glad you liked it.

I asked this I another thread but didn't get an answer. Are we allowed to submit VR games?

I'm working on my first VR game in Godot. Can we submit VR games?

DEVLOG #2

7dfps 2023 community · Created a new topic My Devlogs

Here I will post video Devlogs every day until the end of the jam or when my game is done. Here is the First one:

That helps, but with the amount of time left and my limited knowledge of Godot I decided to leave the Jam already. I have more to learn but who knows, I might join the next Godot Wild Jam.

Time to crunch

What I got done so far.

*sigh* I have to start over with Unity due to something in Gdevelop. It lags hard. So I'm going to change tactics and make the game top-down in Unity. I wasted the first 2 days and I feel like an idiot.

Hello! This is my first time making a Roguelike so I'm kinda learning as I go. My idea is an FPS Roguelike where when you kill an enemy, you get that enemy's power. I still have a lot of work to do but here's what I got done so far.

  • Player movement
  • 2 Enemy types
  • Started on room randomization
  • Shooting and Power Stealing
  • Other boring stuff

As for the engine, I'm using GDevelop with a 3D Extension because I know more about GDevelop than Unity at the moment.

Anyway, that's all for day 1 of Development. I hope I can get this done in 7 days. Wish me luck!

I'll be using either Unity or GDevelop.

My second Devlog Video

I decided to make Video Devlogs for my game. here is the first one.

I've never made an FPS before and I've been slowly learning Unity and Play Maker. I think I'll make a game similar to Gone Home or Dear Esther. I am not looking for a team because I'm the kind of guy who likes to do stuff on their own. As the title says, This will be my first FPS game. Wish me luck!

Hi, for this Game Jam I wanted to make a Survival game where you have to keep an furnace lit. I have a few ideas but I think A. it's too much to get done in 10 days and B. not sure if the furnace idea fits the theme. Below are some notes of what I want to make. What do you guys think?

DevLog video # 2

I made some changes AND a boss

DevLog video # 1

Hello again, I've made some changes to my game and finally gave it the name "PakPok" What does it mean? I have no idea, it's just something random I came up with. The game is now a level-based top-down shooter where you start at the bottom of the level and you have to make it to the top, defeat the boss and continue. I'm also adding  Xbox One Controller support.

Right now I have to do some level design and make more enemies and the bosses.

Here are some more screenshots of my game so far

I started a bit late with this Jam, but I least I got something working. My game is an "All against one, how long can you last? type of game." Here is what I got done:

  1. Player movement,
  2. Player main attack,
  3. Enemy targeting player,
  4. Some sound effects and some placeholder music.

What I still need to do:

  1. Make the background
  2. Add more enemy types
  3. Adjust enemy spawn rates.
  4. Some other stuff that I can't think of at the moment.

Anyway, as of writing this post, it's just about midnight. I'll leave you with a screenshot of my game so far.

It's going to be a "boss rush" game where you have to stay on the white beam or you will take damage. I still have to make more bosses.

I've had an idea for a game in my head for months and It's going to be a big project that won't be finished by the end of the jam. Is it ok to submit one part or area of my game?

Thanks for clearing things up. This will be a challenge.

Hello. I'm a bit confused about the 64x64 limit. Is it the screen size that has to be 64x64? or the sprites / objects have to be 64x64?

not a planet, but the VOID.

I'm glad you liked it! The 2nd ending is quoting a song that I liked and where I came with the idea for the game.

I did want to add sound but I couldn't get it working.

Make it to the end of the maze.

To get the 2nd ending, you have to collect all 10 things and then talk to the guy at the end of the maze.

did you get both endings?

It's done. My game is done. I couldn't get the audio working. It's a short game, but it has two endings. I can't wait to see your feedback! https://mikes.itch.io/i-am-you

Here is a Devlog Video I made.
