What a polished game! We gathered our thoughts and talked about it on the game jam episode of our podcast. You can listen to it here (or wherever you get your podcasts!):  https://anchor.fm/nestalgia/episodes/S05---NEStalgia-Game-Jam-euj95s

Hi all, thank you so much for participating in this jam. It was amazing to watch all the discussions, play all the games, and enjoy this small community of for the past few weeks. Whether you're a seasoned developer or this was your first jam, it was a ton of fun to see what you created. We will be reviewing all the entries on a special episode of our podcast "NEStalgia" that will post on April 10. We hope you tune in!

You don't need to make each sprite out of groups of 8x8 or 8x16 pixel sprites like the NES originally did, but all graphics should be pixel art, ideally using the NES color palette.

Yes! It's meant to inspire ideas, but if you want to ignore it completely because you have a plan, go for it!

As long as it fits the requirements for the jam, it's ok!

This is a great point! If you would rather do 224 instead of 240, please feel free.

I'm going to add this color palette to the game jam description though.

But there are no other restrictions than the ones already mentioned. Thanks for asking!

This is a great idea! Since we're allowing some leeway with the audio requirements, let's say it's not a firm restriction, but it's encouraged.

First off, thank you for joining this game jam as your first one! If you're having trouble building different versions, don't sweat it. It's more important that you get your game out than worrying about making it for multiple platforms.

General frameworks are ok. If you want to start planning out things on paper before the jam starts, that's ok with me!

Pretty much that, yeah! You can space them out a bit if you want. To me, it seems to make the most sense to have one hand be dedicated to the D Pad, and one hand be dedicated to A and B, but however you want to do it, go ahead!

Hi! We're not making a Discord forum for this jam, but feel free to start casual threads in the community page if there's something you want to talk about.

Hey there! No, they don't have to be A and B. Just having two buttons/keys that could function as A or B in a game. For example, you might want to use the J and K keys as A and B buttons, with WASD as your D Pad. Really, it's just about having the right number of inputs. Make sense?
