We haven't tried the ebook but its safe to assume they got the same information (at least text-wise). Ebook says that it includes a wide variety of videos to exemplify the concepts given and other material; so it sounds like a really nice purchase.  In the end, its just a matter of what you feel more convenient; the important part is to keep practicing and watch a looot of animation in different formats: movies, video games,  ads, etc.

Another good resource is the book "The illusion of life", written by two of the animators known as Disney's Nine Old Men, who defined the twelve basic principles of animation.

We liked a lot the concept of the plastic waste making the player slower, it really sends a powerful message if you think about it.

We just think that it could be communicated in a better way as we first thought that it was our computer which was getting slower; a different sound or a particle effect could work.

Also, its nice that I have to come back to the shelf to reload my weapon but actually there is no reason to move out of there. We were able to start camping in the shelf shooting all the zombies with a big pile of thrash on our feet, but we didn't care about getting slower because we were not moving.

The visuals and character movement are nice, we enjoyed watching the human and zombies move. We loved the ambient music and sound effects, they really sold us the theme.

For game art in general, Riot games released a series of videos on their Youtube channel that explain the different areas.

And for animation, we think every animator would agree that "the animator's survival kit" is THE BOOK. As it explains the basics that pretty much every animation follow.

Now, specifically for games, we are big fans of the YT channel "New Frame Plus". Dan really loves animation, and you can notice from his videos, he explains in detail every aspect of the animations and why they do or don't work well.

Also, https://80.lv/ and https://polycount.com/ very good sources of information and feedback regarding everything in the world of art for games.

We agree. Sound is also a very important part of a video game, from the background music that sets the mood, to sfx that serve the gameplay as feedback to the player,

Thanks for sharing a little bit of your workflow! We think that is more common to see information and tools to come with some nice visual placeholders at the very least, that it is to find something about creating sounds (not just downloading them from a site)

Also, if someone is interested in sound effects for an 8-bit style game, we've found that https://www.bfxr.net/ is a pretty helpful tool

We tried to play it but we were not able to figure out how to move the tiles. We changed the heart colors and moved it, changed levels, restarted it a couple times but nothing happened :(

Sounds like an interesting concept for a puzzle game, though; reminds us of those mini games that came preinstalled in cellphones like the legendary Nokia. Would like to see it working.

Liked the arrow mechanic and the concept overall. The music is really catchy.


We felt that the level design was a little too punishing when a player chooses a wrong path, maybe it would be better to give a little more of space to correct the path, as we felt that it was more a matter of luck than ability.

Really nice and fun game. we got trapped in the middle of the doors once, because we managed to arrive before they opened; though we didn't feel bad for that, it was actually funny, and got some flashbacks from that experience. 

In a couple of levels we felt that we depended more on luck than in our ability. Also, sometimes it was a little hard to find my character on the screen.

Loved the style and the safety tip in the loading screen.

Was a little confusing in the beginning, but once we got used to the movement, it was pretty fun.

Felt that it got too easy when the length of the tongue increased, though. Maybe you could try to set a fixed a length and increase the difficulty with some level design magic.

Also, it was a little hard to tell when the chameleon was fully attached to the walls, maybe its just that it takes too long; but we liked the possibility of releasing the tongue mid-air to achieve some pro maneuvers.

It is a nice and interesting concept and really liked the style.
