I'll defo look into these things. A part of me does want to come back to this project to fix some of the things that I couldn't do, but maybe when I get better with Unity, or maybe try it in Godot.
I got my Bachelor's in Game Design, which took two years, but I can only really confidently say that I took it seriously for about 5 months now. I'm still learning and trying to improve myself.

Very solid gameplay loop. I really love the art. The effects on the water and the simple designs of the raft and shop were very well executed. This might be a skill issue, lol, but I found it quite difficult to deal with enemies at times, and dying was pretty quick. Overall, pretty solid experience. I can see this being expanded upon. Great work!

This was a very cute and quite fun game. I absolutely love the art style. The designs, the backgrounds, the death screen, and the little animations are very stylized and cute. It's a pretty simple concept, but it was still pretty enjoyable, very pick up and play. I will say, the one criticism that I have is that on my final run, I got caught when the wasp was looking away from me and it was a pretty decent distance. Though that was just a minor bug that I found. Great work!
The implantation of the theme was spot on. I would say the strongest part of game is the art style, it really ties the island theme together. I even noticed the attention to detail with the character sinking into the water a bit, very good touch. The music even helped with keeping the theme together, so it was a good choice. I did get confused at the start on what it was you had to do, but looking at the top right helped out with understanding, maybe it could have used stronger conveyance. Overall, pretty solid game. I would defo like to see this expanded upon. Maybe even have some nice animations to fit the dope art style. Great work!
Thank you so much for checking my game out and leaving some feedback! Yeah, I wanted to do at least one more solo work before trying to branch out and work with others, just to see my current level and just to challenge myself. A lot had to get cut out and even bandaged due to my lack of scripting knowledge, so the difficultly fluctuated a lot. The Sun King was going to have more attacks, and there was even supposed to be a mini-boss that was "The Sun Prince" with his own attacks. Sucks I couldn't use any of those art and animations I made, but it is what it is. As for the tilemap flickering, it was my first time making my own tilemap from scratch, so I just kinda assumed I messed up somewhere, but I'll defo look that this video for future projects. Long shpeel over, thanks again for checking my game and enjoying!
Hello! Thank you so much for checking out my game, it means a lot! Also, thank you for the honest feedback, it will definitely be taken into consideration.
I had a few others play test this demo, and the dodging of the bullets was a common critique. I wanted the jump to be not too floaty, as that was a complaint I had before, so finding the balance was a bit of a challenge. Also, the thing I struggled with the most was scripting, which is something I definitely want and need to level up. In terms of the leaps of faith, I wanted the air dash to be more utilized, so I added the background line detail, but I probably could have used an additional means of convenience, or altering the camera a bit.
I had never done backgrounds or tilesets before, so it was something I wanted to get for free while I was working on this through college.
I will definitely add more to the game. It's a passion project of mine, and my first solo endeavor. Again, thank you so much for the feedback! I'm happy you had fun!
