EDIT: Ya encontré la versión en español, ¡qué bueno que la podré utilizar para mis cursos en español también!

I just played through this whole game I love it so much! Felicidades Nico and Niebla Games. Because you said feedback is welcome:

  • I think it's an amazing adaptation of Guaman Poma's work and it really does justice to the major themes and some of the most memorable illustrations in the original work
  • I'm a professor and I will definitely be teaching it in both my game studies and Latin American studies courses, what a fantastic educational tool to bring this material to younger and global audiences!
  • My first game system was the Atari 2600, and the graphics are such a nostalgic throwback to games like 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' or 'Adventure' but in a wonderfully decolonial way, SO cool!
  • I have a couple small suggestions to smooth out the English--would you mind sharing the text of the script if you would be interested in that kind of feedback?
  • Is the game available (or could it be) in Spanish? Quechua? That would be so cool too!
  • The soundtrack is 💯
  • Okay I'm not a game developer, but one observation is that in one of my favorite serious games, Anna Anthropy's Dys4ia (https://w.itch.io/dys4ia), the narrative is complemented by a series of repeating mini-game mechanics that actively engage the player and gradually increase in difficulty, with a focus on level design and interactivity that (to my way of thinking) enhances the transmission of the message.
  • That's 👆a "for what it's worth" comment, because I think this game already does a great job of leading the player on an interactive journey through Guaman Poma's text that transmits its meaning beautifully. Una belleza de verdad Nico
  • This game had me cracking up! I love the chaotic feeling of being attacked by the sea monsters, and I really love the way the voice callouts responded to my moves in logical but still sometimes unexpected and humorously surprising ways.
  • This was the most challenging of the games in the jam, it was really difficult to win and the sea monsters got FIERCE at the end!
  • I love the pirate dialog, the voice acting made me smile and want to play more and the music was a driving force that really matched well and kept the gameplay moving
  • The islanders saying “Oh my gooood” is stuck in my head, classic!
  • This was super-repayable and fun, and I got definite women’s leadership on the ocean vibes!
  • Super humorous dialog that made me want to keep the story moving, the tone really showed character even with limited writing
  • Lovely pixel art style
  • I got a real sense of homey coastal setting with the restaurant wars going on, a really good vehicle for talking about sustainable fishing practices
  • The ending was abrupt, but funny, left me with an lol and a smile on my face!
  • Both the wave sounds and the nostalgic, NES-style soundtrack lulled me into a sense of quietude and relaxation, very positive vibes from the sound
  • The movement mechanics were really smooth and easy to navigate, and there were so many surprises hidden in the mechanics: the reaction to the big shipping vessels, bouncing off the buoys, being able to go through some obstacles but getting blocked by others, etc.
  • The ship upgrades were like an a-ha! moment and it felt like ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED! Great tidbit of design there, and the larger ships being able to take in larger pieces of garbage was a mechanical stroke of genius as well—what at first seemed impossible was actually possible
  • I found the game highly replayable and could imagine expanding it to different levels with different types of trash and obstacles.
  • I appreciate the way the mechanics reinforce the message that clean oceans are good for people and the environment alike

- The sound design took me in immediately, both the musical score and the typing sounds that drew my attention to a very intriguing narrative hook

- Business Industrial Giants Oligarchical Imperial Legion, lololol

- Musical feedback was great, I felt triumphant when I finally figured out how to stop other ships

- Using the awesome power of the ocean in the form of whirlpools, hurricanes and waterspouts is a really creative and compelling mechanic

- Using satellite earth imagery and the graphical recreation of weather events was unlike any other game I've played before, very attention-getting

- A beautiful, contemplative and philosophical experience
