oh wait a minute, I maybe did not understand one thing. The boost is only working on the current roll and if you roll it, it bring nothing?
In my first run I understood that the boost was for all roll, so I boost myself and then I heal and attack
Amazing entry with a lot of depth in its mechanic. What a good idea to put an attack depending of the dice face AND an attack with your dice throw! And around that put mechanic that encourage play far away from the dice (electric, dice return) and mechanic that encourage play near the dice (freeze and explosion which allow to take the dice back if your quick enough).
Just amazing work around the time and your initial idea
Really interesting game with nice mechanics
Some feedback :
-enemy should come from everywhere and circle the player so he cannot always circle strafe.
-I should have prefer to reload with space button, more ergonomic as it is a main mechanic (i always loose cause i was looking for the "r" key on my keyboard :(
-Enemy should shoot bullet too (slow and big bullet)
I really enjoy playing it though! Good job!
So cool! Interesting mechanic and good level design. The control is a little bit "off" and need refinement but still a very enjoyable game.
Some feedback : it is a bit hard to know exactly how many jump we have, I suggest to always display total number of dice in black and to color each spot in red or something to know how many jump we still have.
(and music is so nice too !)
Love the idea to have several character in a wario ware game.
But right now there is some design problem and some untested case that prevent me from fully enjoying my time with the game, for example you cannot finish the multiplication level with the car or some platform level seems impossible with the slug.
But once all of this will be corrected, the game will be nice for sure!
Thank you for your feedback!
Several people struggle to understand all the UI directly and the little tutorial/instruction on the page didn't help.Next time I will do an in game tutorial for sure!
The effect of each card appear on top of the screen when you hover the card. Each [ ] on the instruction are a receptacle for a dice.
You cannot play the dice twice a turn, when you play a dice it disappear. So each turn you have 4 dice to spend on any card you want.
I like the simple visual and the stealth mechanic, but It miss a little something to make the gameplay interesting. Right now I just wait in a safe spot for the enemy to pass and I cross my finger to have a good dice roll when the way is clear.
idea : make the dice roll loud so the guard can hear you if you reroll too close from them ?
The idea of reload bullet depending on the dice roll is really interesting!
Now the control and the design not help to make it appealing
As already said by the previous commentary :
physics need to be improved, and I will be more extreme : don't do jump button or even movement button if it is not necessary (or already said meaningful).
When I played, I only use reload and fire :p
An idea : If the game put the character at the center of the screen, static, and made enemies appeared from the left and the right, the player would have more option and more decision to make without creating you more work to be done.
But as already said (yes i repeat a lot :p) good job for finishing something, and good job for having one good design idea to work with.
PICO-8 is a lot more "direct" and straightforward and I love that. You can go on the PICO-8 website and I think you can look at any cartridge there to have an idea about the difficulty of the code aspect (there is a little link/button at each cartridge which will show the code).
And yes, the double attack card was intentional to not make the game extra difficult, but now it is maybe too easy :/
edit : and thank you by the way!
Sokoban + dice + arithmetic operation ? My brain is melting and I am level 2 :'(
Love the dice animation.
I love that since the dice operator is only 3 different faces repeat 2 times at opposite face, I could predict exactly what will be the next face with my move.
Maybe do more easy level at the beginning for people like me :p
