A solid prototype!

I like how the dice is expected to roll around like a ball, that's a good idea, and it could perhaps make a great game.

Although in this game, there were a few problems... The biggest of which is that the physics is a bit janky. The dice feels super floaty, and it's really hard to tell where it's going to land. Those are both critical for a game like this to feel good.

Also, probably related to the gravity being too low, it doesn't feel like it matters that this is a dice. It sometimes rolls or bounces in a way a ball wouldn't, but usually it just rolls in whatever direction I press, without the orientation of the dice really mattering at all.

Overall, it was fun little game.

Tricky to control, but very satisfying when you get a good run. I think a flyby of each level before you start would help orient yourself, and maybe a little more forgiveness of the platforms, but what you have here is quite fun :)

A fly by is a super good idea I hadn't though of! I might have to go back and implement that and fix the screen size issues. Anyway thanks for the review! :)

I really prefer the long (distance), speedy levels over the ones where you have to slowly roll around the obstacles, so would have loved to see more of those.

(Also the screen size to big to display on my laptop, so I couldn't see the entire screen at once)

Developer

I definitely agree! If I were to remake it I would make all the levels wider and longer so you could go faster. Thankyou for playing!

I love the low resolution, it add a lot personality to the game.

It remind me Super Monkey Ball in a good way.

Tell me the truth : do you beat level 3 the one with the big jump and small corridor reception)? I try it a LOT and didn't succeed :'(

Developer

Thanks! Level 3 you just go down the ramp as fast you can and avoid the obstacles, then you should have enough momentum to get the goal. You have to center yourself along the line to land in the pocket that catches you though!

I really liked this game! The aesthetic was really nice, although i think a solid colour background would've better fit the game, and the levels were well made! You really gave me some Brackeys nostalgia with this one! With a little more polish, and some more audio I think this could be a super cool little game, well done mate :) (p.s. small tip, don't use such a big window size for your game, this could put people off and you've got to give them all a chance to play your awesome game!)

Developer(+1)

Thankyou! I remember following the brackeys tutorial a few years ago. I was gonna use a smaller window size but I ran out of time to make another build cause itch.io was so buggy

Love the overly pixel look and the absurdly high acceleration. They definitely give the game a certain charm. Some music would be nice.

Developer

Thankyou! I love old 3D gba games so I wanted to go for that look. I would've had time for music but i spent 3 hours trying to make more stylized grass

😂

I really enjoyed this!

The momentum is something you should probably tweak, but I still found it fun and not really frustrating. The game even allows you to skip some parts here and there, which made it fun to play fast as well. Art looks really nice too.

One of the better games I've seen yet.

Developer

I def think the acceleration needs work, but thanks for the review! I left some skips in cause it makes speedrunning more fun.

The momentum of the dice can quickly become unruly and it is hard to keep the dice from flying of the side of the track. The game play is fun just having to redo a level more than certain times get annoying rather fast. I like the retro style just do not like how it looks like 240p video at times. yes make it look low polygon but not low quality.
