A simple letter to show my gratitude for the awesome dudes who came up with the jam and hosted it.
Haven't seen ppl doing this so imma be the first one to thank the hosts :)
The theme was perfect for anyone wanting to make their first game and / or get back to game dev after a hiatus . It helps solve the problem of over scoping since the time limit given is small .. but also forces you to be creative and fit a good gameplay with the little time you have.
might have missed a lotta things so feel free to write em in the comments.
Anyway .. Nice jam and will be looking forward to participate on the next one.
Nice one .. managed to finish 2 levels
a lil suggestion would be to fix the collision system of the boxes .. they get stuck on walls often and can be frustrating at times
oh ... and the character can only move in one direction at a given time [i.e can't move diagonally] which makes the game a tad bit harder
anyway .. nice one , keep it up
It is not mandatory and you can just jump straight to the game if you have prior experience , but I get the feeling that what may seem a balanced difficulty for me will be almost impossible for those who doesn't play games as much.
And I think it's better to inform the players how to play .. than making them learn through trial and error and quit without having the intended experience.(since the gameplay is short)
ofc it is enjoyable ... and will play it
for a feedback .. for me the game is balanced .. not too hard .. not to easy , and the edge detection is forgiving (imagine failing if you touch the corner of the road)
Also ... this one inspired me to make a similar game for the 20 sec gamejam (will try to submit it in less than a week)
and.. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Might be late to reply
But ur doing an incredible job
and the redesigned character looks way more awesome
liked the idea of the dangling lantern btw :)
It might be hard working on the same game everyday and posting devlogs about it .. with almost no reply per post, but don't let that get you down
sooner or later people will come across your work and will give you their feedback.
keep up the good work , you will get stronger by the day
Hope u make it to the top
Good luck
thanks for commenting
and yes it is expected for it not to work ...since i don't have a prior coding experience and i did the whole coding past midnight
from what i tested you are able to kill the monsters...it glitches a lot on the robot level tho(cause i used a lot of colliders and an image effect)
will try to improve it if imma do an alpha version
well .. since it was our first gamejam.. i think we did good
tho my friend couldn't work with me on the last day because of some technical problems
also this would be a reminder for us not to bite more than we can chew
the original game we planned had a good plot , cutscenes , dialogue system , boss battle and a mini runner level
but now... we couldnt even get to make the player character face the direction it was moving to (since there aint no negative value in Vector3 function)
also tbh i am not satisfied with the final result .. but well .. it is what it is
i hope we can make a beta version some time soon
oh and one more thing
do not disable the camera clear option or ull end up with sth like this
here is the ink for the "game"
https://psyco6.itch.io/batch-bear
our first trial on making a 2d game .. and sarcastically we started working on it the day before the deadline
I dont think we are gonna finish the full project in time
but hopefully we should be able to finish a level or two
well.. good luck for us
these were a scr shot from what we planned on to do originally
but since the game mechanism and story were complex ... we gotta compromise
and we somehow end up with this.(More or less)
P.S >>> it is waay off from what was originally planned
oh also.. we chose a name randomly .. cause we haven't thought of it beforehand
