I remembered this place existed!

The previous stuff looks a bit generic, so I decided to implement phase shift, a mechanic that changes (and breaks) the game at every turn in the level.

Here's how I implemented it.

TLDR; it took a ton of if statements for EVERY SINGLE level change I wanted to add, including but not limited to:

  • Speed
  • Jumps
  • Gravity
  • Spike rain?!

You could also take a look at the Crazed Server!! if you wanna talk (I'm lonely)...

Oh and here's a gool GIF because why not.

I feel like you'd need to describe more of your game or have a key differentiator to make a title that clicks (maybe add visuals)?

I know you can do it!

We are so back.

I've just started working on a devlog series for Crazed Corps!!, a high-speed action platformer with not-so-conventional game mechanics...

What are those mechanics, you ask? Well, I'm working on a few space-time manipulation abilities, including:

  • Teledash
  • Stomp
  • Auto-cannon
  • Anti-gravity
  • Phase shift

Want to learn more? Read the full devlog...

Now GET OUT OF HERE. I'M (not) SERIOUS!

Congratulations! You won the competition. There isn't much I can give, so I guess you will receive free keys for all of my games.

The competition has ended! Submissions from this point forward will not be considered.

Just one day until the competition ends! I advise current participants to finish their models ASAP.

This is probably the best one I've seen yet! If you allow it, can I use this in a video?

Pretty good! If you allow it, can I use this in a video?

Yes, you can still participate. Send your model in a post here. However, you might want to get started soon. It ends on the 24th!

Because of my complete incompetency with the theme reveal, you now have until the 24th.

The theme is:

MEDIEVAL!

Welcome!

Rotor Drift is a steampunk racing simulator that's currently in development. Using advanced AI that uses past races, you'll be pitted against realistic and challenging opponents. We are planning to add several maps, car models, and modes, all with a steampunk flair.

The game's recent update introduces several quality-of-life updates along with a new track: The Dugout.

We're in need of feedback, as Rotor Drift has many unstable aspects that may require tweaking. Consider playing the game and leaving your suggestions in the comments.

Playtesters would also be greatly appreciated. If you are interested, join the r3sgame Community for more information.

Thanks!

Rotor Drift

Hello!

These past few weeks, I added several small but impactful polish changes and a new track to Rotor Drift, a steampunk racing simulator featuring a distinct art style and advanced AI.

Now, it's time to list all of the major changes:

  • Dynamic camera
  • Updated vehicle models
  • Options menu (It's still a bit limited, you can only change the graphics as of now)
  • New track names
  • Decreased vehicle flipping when touching opponents
  • Smoke and impact particles
  • ..And more I probably forgot

I highly recommend downloading this game version, as it's a good indicator of where I want to take this project. Also, we're in need of playtesters. Check out the r3sgame Community for information on how you can join and the perks you'll receive. Stay tuned!

Hello! I wanted to interact a bit with the itch community, so I've decided to host an art competition.

You'll be tasked with creating a 3D model based on a set theme, which will be announced on August 20th. The last day to submit will be the 24th. Entries after this point will not be considered.

You must submit your model as an image to this post or the r3sgame Community, where the central part of the event will be held. Any modeling tool is allowed if you have created the item yourself. Make sure to use common sense and submit original and non-NSFW models.

Lastly, winners will be judged by the admins of the community. There will be two runner-ups and one champion. The best will receive bragging rights, perks in the community, and publicity.

Have fun!

I agree, I would like to add "blueprints" for existing systems over time. I also want to focus on a foundation for clear and informative UI.

Hey there! As sort of a fun project, I've decided to take on the task of making a game engine from scratch. I want my engine to have good AI support for simulation-type games and systems for fun, fast-paced experiences.

However, I want to ensure that the engine suits a broad user base and see what others think. What would you personally enjoy in a game engine?

Um...

How is this related to the jam's theme?

The projects will be judged by those who have entered the jam and the jam moderators.

Hey there!

With determination, hard work, and a little help from my Discord server, Rotor Drift, a steampunk racing simulator, has finally received its first Beta update, adding new tracks, vehicles, AI, and options! The game uses an advanced system to generate realistic drivers from recorded races. So, in the future, you'll be able to create your own racers!

We're also in need of playtesters. If you're interested, check out the r3sgame Discord for information on how to get started and the perks you'll receive.

Thanks!

Hello again! I would recommend playing Rotor Drift, it's a steampunk racing simulator that uses advanced AI to generate realistic drivers. The beta version currently has four vehicles and three tracks to try out. Thanks!

Welcome to 2PJ, also known as 2nd Person Jam.

We all know about first-person games (Looking through the eyes of the player character) and third-person games (Looking outside of the player character), but what about second-person games? It's our job to give an answer to this question.

Participants will be given roughly seven days to create a game inspired by the second-person theme. After the submission period ends, games will be rated based on their creativity regarding the topic (theme) and general quality (gameplay).

If you're interested, check out the event's itch.io page and Discord Server.

Hey there! We're glad you're interested in this jam.

Before posting, remember that content should not be NSFW or malicious. If you want more discussion, check out the r3sgame Discord.

Thanks, and have fun!

I'm back! Here's a time-lapse of the creation process for a new vehicle in the game.

I would recommend trying out Rotor Drift's prototype. It's a steampunk racing simulator that uses machine learning AI to give realistic opponents.

Welcome!

Rotor Drift is a steampunk racing simulator that's currently in development. Using advanced machine learning AI, you'll be pitted against realistic and challenging opponents. The game will feature several maps, car models, and modes, all with a steampunk flair.

The recent prototype release features the game's core gameplay and logic with one track to showcase it all. However, I need feedback in order to get a feel for where the game should go. Take a look at this devlog to see how you can become a playtester and the perks you'll receive. Additionally, feedback can be sent through the game's comment section.

Thanks for your help!

Making an art style was something I spent a ton of time and effort on, so it's important that I have a devlog to detail the process.

Nice

The best game is quite subjective, but I'd say the best game would be the one with the most polish, success, and pure fun.

I think these are the top contenders:

Celeste

Superhot

ULTRAKILL

Thanks! I haven't really decided on an art style yet, but I think having a ps1 art style would be a good choice.

How did I make the trailer? Find out here!

If you'd like to see an AI-created trailer for this game, take a look at this video.

oh no

Whole wheat bread is pretty cool.

Hey there! This is the development topic for Rotor Drift, a steampunk racing simulator that utilizes Machine Learning AI.

You can check out how I created AI for this game, which you can check out in this devlog. It contains information on the processes, systems, and challenges I created and experienced to get a (half) functional driver. This was especially challenging due to the fact that I used Machine Learning for the foundation.

You can expect a playable prototype in the near future. Visit the full devlog history on the game page. Stay tuned!

Hey there! Lots of games require the ability to look at an object (top-down shooters, AI in general, visuals), and Unity is a pretty good engine for something like this, so I decided to give a quick snippet/guide on how to do this:

This was made when I was a wee young lad. 10/10 game design:
