that means it's actually in 5th place and not 6th place

@shybyte with The Tunnel Effect; 16.1 points

@herald and @SheatNoisette with Quantum Dorifto; 14 points

@Grim  with Quantum Clippy - and - @smartest blob  with Infinite Growth; 13.6 points each!

Community Award (golden certificate of achievement)

The community elected to award @shybyte for the game The Tunnel Effect; 70% of the vote!

Congratulations to all winners. DM me on discord to claim your prize

Please keep in mind that the judges were a little harsh so the precise details will be available to participants by request only. Thank you for this amazing jam everyone!

This is a reminder that voting is still in progress until the 17th at 23:59 --- that's 5 days from now. A lot of you still haven't voted. Voting is important because it promotes a sense of community and fairness, this is the community award we're talking about after all!

Due to the nature of this jam, compressed executable are often falsely flagged as viruses on Windows. It is very likely that the game isn't actually a virus. I recommend using a virtual machine, a sandbox, an environment that resets to a previous state on reboot or something else akin to that. Please report only legitimate viruses.

In regards to the previous email I sent you guys, I forgot to mention that you have until the 17th at 23:59 to make your vote.

I nearly choked on my own saliva, that is so small! Congrats on achieving such a small size haha

Since we don't have too many entries this time around, I'll allow late entries in exchange for points deducted for lateness. I'll consult the judges on how many points they think would be fair. All late submissions go to my discord dms and must be submitted as soon as possible.

Edit: The late submission period has started. Make a itch.io page for your game and send me the link in dm on discord. You have 20 hours. Points are deducted based on how much extra time you take.

It doesn't matter if they're packaged separately. They still count towards size if they're needed to run your game

Is your submission disqualified or simply removed? Before you make a thread or @ me on discord, please look at this excel sheet and try to find your game:

thank you for the fast response!

according to the logs, you removed the submission yourself

btw because we're using a custom ranking system anyways, I'll just keep note of your game and your entry will be evaluated, whether it is in the system or not

Hello,

I'm the only admin on the 4mb jam, but an entry seems to be invisible or removed. Can that happen? It seems like a legitimate entry so I don't know what to do, can I just tell the person to resubmit? I think it might be a bug.

I'll look into it, it doesn't show up as a submission on my side. it might be a glitch

yes

As long as your game is either a windows or ubuntu game, it's fine. When you submit, you'll be asked to indicate if your game is for windows or ubuntu --- other platforms won't count.

Depends what you mean by windows version. If you need a browser to play your game, then no. Else, potentially yes.

4MB Jam 2023 community · Created a new topic Prize pool

I'm currently organizing a prize pool people can contribute to give to the winner of the jam (or winners, if we get more than expected) If you want to contribute something just send me a private message on Discord and that can be arranged. We already have a total of $100 pledged!

I think it's been done in the previous edition of the jam and someone on reddit asked about it, but I think you're the first to confirm that you'll be using them.

You're going to be doing a lot of things that are normally discouraged to get the size down, that's unavoidable.

If you static link it, the linker should exclude the unused parts. Additional compiler flags might be necessary, it's your job to investigate that :-P

If you join our discord, some people might be able to help you with that.

Windows 10, Windows 11 and Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS
If you can find a way to embed an emulator into your app or something like that though, then go for it!

Browser window didn't actually meet the criteria and was deleted. In the logs it says in the deletion reason was "Not a game", but there could be many other minor reasons why it was deleted, which I usually didn't put as I only needed one major violation to prune an entry.

You can find a list of deleted entries here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ch8XFmhJEJ_knJ9XIzNr1AVqOZvtzXvWucfj9yZi...

In what way does it respect the theme? Also it's not obvious where the source is.

I had a pretty good idea almost immediately. It's actually dead simple when you don't think too hard about it.

The creator of the jam is usually not this late for anything really. I can speak on his behalf that he's usually a reliable person. We must assume something really important his holding him back. In the meantime, I suggest people set up their project environment if it's not already done and take this time to reread the docs of the libs/frameworks/engines they're going to use.

We tried asking on Discord, where he's very active, but he's AFK or dead.

EDIT: Thank you!

You have 24 hours to provide a download link to ALL your game files. If you do not comply, I, or another, will remove your submission.

As long as you have one version that is under 4mb, I think your game qualifies. However, I think we can't evaluate your game on the versions which don't qualify.
This is a tentative answer until you get an official answer.
